And I’m very happy that you decided to watch

this video cuz in this video we’re going to talk about something very

pleasant – about summer. About

how to talk about your summer and

vacation plans since the summer is just around the corner.

Although the situation right now is unusual

and our summer may not look like it would have

previously, it will pass.

Everything is going to be ok. We have to believe in this

and we have to stay on the positive side. And despite all

of this we’re still going to have some plans for this summer

and for summers to come. So

let’s catch this positive vibe, tune in,

envision it and improve our communication

skills. Since I’m going to suggest you not only

some separate expressions or words but also whole

sentences and questions to ask the

person with whom you’re going to speak. Because being a

good conversationalist means being a good

listener and being curios

about your conversation partner and being attentive

to them, in the first place.

Starting a conversation with someone can be quite stressful

in itself yet alone starting a conversation in

English. We never know what to talk about

and what questions to ask. So I hope this video will be

very practical for you. As you guys always ask me for

some specific stuff. So these will be like just

take it and use it. That’s why I have a list

of questions for you to start a conversation and to ask

your conversation partner. They are to help you

keep a conversation flowing. And summer

is a great topic to talk about. So

what I want to do is give you a list a questions

that you can ask someone or that you might get asked

by someone else and some

already ready answers that you also can use

or you might hear from someone. But that

doesn’t mean of course that you can’t change or modify

them to tailor to your needs.So

let’s start with the obvious questions.

These are all basically asking the same thing just in different ways.

On your screen

you’ll see the questions again and

I’m going to give possible answers to these questions.

So you’ve heard possible conversation starting

questions that you may ask someone else or may get asked

and possible answers.

And of course those can be changed, can be shorter,

longer or different. But

if you feel like you might need something like

this and you usually don’t know what to ask,

just write them down in your phone’s notes,

so that they are always with you. Just in case.

this question will probably be very to the point this year.

It sounds a little sarcastic, but not in a

bad way, cuz it describes the actual situation

and fits very well. Also it can be a

conversation starter or a follow up question

just as this one

Follow up questions. We ask follow up questions to get

more information and to show our interest in the

person we’re speaking with. They may be related the previous

question or may be different depending on the answer.

This “Tell me more” always works because it shows

that you’re interested in the person you’re speaking with

here we have some follow up questions.

Now possible answers.

So we already have a little conversation going on.

It may be a good idea for you to just practice asking these questions.

And some bonus more interesting and engaging questions.

Again to keep a conversation going and to get to know a person a little better.

BTW you can start by saying something about yourself

and then ask a follow up question so it doesn’t sound like an interrogation

Now let’s talk about the meanings of those words and idioms that we used in our Q&A.

It’s actually a very good idea to make a summer bucket list. I’m going to think about it.

Cuz there’s always so many things that you want to do, but sometimes you

just forget about them and don’t remember

them until the summer is over.
