are we on are we connected i hope so here we go  then oh my goodness i can't believe it we are  

back together again live on youtube yes we are all  here together again to spend a little bit of time  

enjoying the wonderful world of english yes  we are coming to you live from the birthplace  

of the english language which just happens to be  oh my goodness i can't believe it it's england

did you enjoy that my introduction had no music  there is there is nothing i can do about it  

unfortunately hi everybody this is mr duncan in  england how are you today are you okay i hope so  

are you happy i hope you're feeling happy  i'm not sure how i'm feeling at the moment  

i'm just trying to sort myself out because there  are lots of things going on here in front of me  

as usual there are some technical problems  so i'm trying to sort those out at the moment  

that's it i think we're working now i hope so here  we go then yes oh we've made it all the way to the  

end of another month and this is the beginning  of a new month yes because august has arrived  

and for those who know me well you will  know that august is no ordinary month  

find out a little bit more about that later  on yes we have made it also towards the end  

of another week and also another weekend because

it's a little bit chaotic i'm going to be  honest with you i'm not going to pretend  

that things are not chaotic because  they normally are here in the studio  

especially when we have the occasional  technical problem but we are here together  

it's very nice to see you here for those  who don't know who i am my name is mr duncan  

that's me by the way and i talk about the english  language i'm a little bit different from all the  

rest there are many english teachers on youtube  and i am probably the weirdest i'm going to admit  

it i've decided to listen to public opinion when  people say mr duncan you are so weird and strange  

and odd we've never seen an english teacher  like you i suppose i will have to just concede  

and agree when you concede by the way you give in  you quit you decide to go along with the situation  

that is happening at that moment on in time so  that's it i've conceded that i am possibly the  

weirdest person that teaches english on youtube  i admit it i put my hand up and say yes it is me  

so i like talking about english but also i like  to chat to other english addicts as well you see  

so that's the reason why we call this program  english addict because there are many people  

around the world who love english very much so  now we have the introductions out of the way

been doing my live streams for for quite a few  years now and of course i've been on youtube for

my second jab my second vaccination appointment is  tomorrow afternoon so i will be this time tomorrow  

i will be preparing to have my second and final  vaccine tomorrow so i'm looking forward to getting  

that out of the way to be honest with you i've  been waiting for a few weeks for my second one  

and tomorrow is the day when it happens i thought  we would talk about some nice subjects today  

including well i suppose we can't have one of my  english addict live streams without talking about  

animals can i say a big thank you to saeed  hello syed thank you very much for sending  

a very interesting photograph now i'm not  going to tell you what the photograph is  

i think it would be nice to guess what it might be  so i'm going to show you the photograph but i want  

you to guess what we are looking at we are looking  at something very unusual something hopefully  

interesting as well because i always try to make  these live streams as interesting as possible  

do i ever succeed sometimes hopefully today will  also be the day when i do that so here it is here  

is the photograph sent in by syed the question  is what are we looking at what are we looking at

there seem to be two animals and also  it looks like one egg but what are the  

animals what are we looking at if you know the  answer let me know right now on the live chat  

what is the animal what could it be  what is the animal on your screen

on the live chat christina says is it a baby  chicken well there are there are actually two  

young animals in that photograph there are  actually two of them but what are they devs

interesting you are in the right area i will  say one thing you are you are very close

when you see what this is hello to what's in the  west hello what's in the west is it a hamster  

it is not a hamster in fact there  are two animals in the photograph  

these are birds and yes they are birds so  i will give you a clue these are birds that  

sometimes make a very lovely noise they  can also be very clever animals very clever  

some of these animals have a very special  talent lena oh hello lena is it a partridge  

no it is not oh now i thought this would be quite  easy i thought it might be quite easy so my clue  

or clues are they are birds that are very nice to  look at and also they can be very clever as well

turkey please don't say that because  i'm feeling rather hungry at the moment  

to be honest with you i'm a little hungry right  now but no it is not a turkey i am going to  

give you the answer right now christina  it is not a robin it is not a peacock

there are two birds in this box they are  babies they are chicks and they are in fact  

baby parakeets they are baby parakeets that  have just hatched out so can i say thank  

you very much to saeed for sending that lovely  photograph and as you know i love birds very much  

it doesn't matter how big they  are if they are young or old  

as long as they are happy i am happy thank you  saeed so there they are two very young parakeets  

and i've never seen young parakeets before  i've never seen them after they've hatched out  

but there they are oh very nice parakeet a  parakeet i suppose you would say that it is  

very similar to a parrot looks very similar  and they are quite clever because they can  

mimic sounds and some of them can can even talk as  well so they can mimic sounds rather like a parrot  

and they are very exotic birds they look very  exotic parakeet parakeet is the name of that bird  

and a lot of people keep them some people keep  them in large cages some people keep them in their  

house as you know i don't really like to see birds  kept in cages to be honest i always think birds  

should have a lot of room to fly around in if i  was honest with you parakeet thank you valentina  

for guessing the answer after i gave the answer  hello also sandra it is not a pigeon and it  

is not a black bird they are actually baby  parakeets young parakeets aren't they lovely

they are rather cute in a strange sort of way

i can't wait to see them all grown up if you could  send me another photograph later as they grow up

up today talking also about different types of  animal do you have a favourite insect i know what  

you're thinking mr duncan that is a very weird  question do you have a favourite insect now i  

was out in the garden yesterday and i noticed that  there are lots of beautiful insects flying around  

at the moment i don't know why but there seemed  to be a lot of wasps flying around during this  

particular season i don't know why but there do  seem to be a lot of wasps i'm just wondering if  

we have a wasp's nest nearby now a lot of people  become very afraid when they find out that they  

have a wasp's nest or maybe a bee's nest near  their house they feel rather afraid because they  

think maybe the insects will come into the house  and invade the space but we will see what happens

insects don't you have a favourite insect  there are some insects that i love seeing  

in fact vittoria says i like butterflies  and also ladybirds as well we also have

vitas also says butterflies yes a lot of people  do like butterflies i think you are right there  

and there is a lovely butterfly now on the screen  a lot of people love butterflies i must admit  

during the summer months there is nothing nicer  than looking out of your window and watching  

the butterflies flit around flit flipped  if something flits it means it moves about  

it moves from one place to another it flits so  there it is a lovely butterfly also we just had  

mentioned this particular insect as well  this is a ladybird lots of ladybirds around  

at the moment normally this time of  year the ladybirds are busy mating  

and having their young so there  is a beautiful ladybird one of my  

favourite i will be honest with you the butterfly  and also the ladybird i think they are both  

maybe two of my most favourite insects of all  but what about you do you have a favourite insect

adi says no this is not a strange question in fact  i love this question because i love grasshoppers  

and i have a grasshopper tattoo on my arm well  all i can say is you must really love them  

you must really love grasshoppers do i have  a photograph of a grasshopper no i don't  

however i do have a photograph  of one of my other favourite  

insects one that you often see during  the summer months buzzing around  

the bee the bumblebee i have to be honest  with you i do love this particular insect  

i love bees i love the sound that  they make and i also like to see them  

flying from flower to flower and of course  they are very useful insects because they  

don't just collect honey for humans to eat they  also help to pollinate the flowers by going  

from one flower to another so i think they are  rather nice creatures a lot of people don't like  

them because they think they will sting them but  of course as you probably know bees don't really  

sting people unless it's absolutely necessary  because if a b stings you then sadly the b  

itself the b will die so you often find that  b's don't sting unless they really have to so  

you will find often that bees bumblebees will not  sting people unless that person really deserves it

so if you do annoy a bumblebee  they will eventually sting you  

and unfortunately they will also give up  their life to do that they will die sadly

adi says i like caterpillars but not worms  caterpillars are very interesting creatures have  

you ever seen one in the process of transforming  so you will see a caterpillar then you will see  

a chrysalis and then eventually it will hatch  out into quite often a lovely beautiful moth  

or of course a butterfly very nice to see so many  people joining already oh my goodness sergio hello  

sergio sergio says i like butterflies caterpillars  ants bees ladybirds grasshoppers spiders and  

flies that's quite a collection there it almost  sounds like you you're keeping them somewhere  

in your house i wonder if anyone does collect  flies never heard of it it seems like a very  

strange thing to collect but if you do collect  insects of any sort please let me know here's  

another one that i like i like this creature  i know a lot of people don't like it but i do

so this particular insect is called a woodlouse  

a woodlouse and you will often see these in  areas that are damp or where there are lots of  

things lying around such as leaves or old pieces  of wood as their name suggests they like living  

in damp places and also places where there  might be a lot of wood nearby and that's  

the reason why they are called wood lice so  the actual collective noun is wood lice and  

singular we say woodlouse so this  particular creature is a woodlouse  

another insect that i really love oh very  similar i know very similar to a bumble  

bee but quite different in fact so this is a wasp  and i think at the moment there are lots of wasps  

flying around the area in which i live over  the past few days i've seen quite a few wasps  

flying by my window in the studio and i think  maybe i'm not sure but i think i might have  

a wasp's nest very close to the house so i  might have a look tomorrow i'm going to try  

and find where all of these wasps are coming from  i don't know why but i have noticed that there  

are quite a few wasps flying around in the area  where i live and i don't know why i have no idea

there are many other insects that people  don't like of course such as worms  

although the birds quite often will come into the  garden here and they will peck and they will hunt  

and they will take the worms away  

quite often to eat for themselves but  also to feed to their chicks as well

pros and cons now when we say pros and cons we  often mean the upside of something or the downside  

of something so that means things that are  positive that you might get and things that are  

negative that you might get from doing something  or having something or behaving in a certain way  

so everything in life i suppose it would  be fair to say that everything in life  

has its prose and cons and that is the  main subject that we are looking at today  

with not only myself but also mr steve coming very  soon yes he is on his way before then we will take  

a look at one of my full english lessons whilst  mr steve gets himself all nice and comfortable

i don't know about you but i love hearing gossip  to gossip is to talk freely about another person's  

life the things you have heard about another  person regardless of whether you know it to be  

true or not the word gossip can be used as a noun  or a verb a person who gossips is a gossip they  

like to gossip about other people the things said  are the gossip you can hear gossip from others  

gossip can be described as hearsay title tattle  rumour scandal you will often find that very small  

towns and villages will have local gossip a person  who seems to know all about what is happening  

in the surrounding area is the local gossip  be careful what you say to her she is the  

local gossip around here so gossip can be the  person spreading the rumours or the thing that  

is being said some people like to read about  celebrity gossip on the internet or in magazines  

a gossipy person will often be reluctant to  tell you where they got the gossip from if you  

ask them where they got the information they  will often reply with a little bird told me

have you ever seen a prefix in an english word  well in fact there are lots of them in fact  

there might be more than you realize there are  many occurrences of prefixes in english words  

that serve to dramatically change the meaning  of the original word for example the prefix  

pseudo before a word denotes something as fake or  artificial for example pseudo science refers to a  

practice of science that has not been accredited  or qualified it is seen as untrue and meritless  

another good example is the prefix quasi which  defines something that appears real but is in  

fact the opposite for example quasi-political  an action appears to be stating an opinion  

but in fact is doing the opposite you might  say that these two examples have similar  

meanings another example of a prefix is retro  this particular prefix means to go backwards  

or regress for example retro migration which means  return to your place of origin migration back to  

a place of origin the prefix earn before a word  denotes an opposite meaning such as unapologetic  

there are many prefixes in the english language  some of which take the form of combining words  

such as anti auto and omni how  many prefix words do you know

hello hello hello mr duncan hello lovely viewers  from all around the world what i love exciting to  

be back what i love is just how exciting and how  excited we get so something is exciting but the  

feeling is excited so the thing itself is exciting  you are describing how it appears or how it is  

but the person themselves they are feeling excited  but of course they can also appear excited like us

that's a bit over the top that's too much mr  duncan well we have somebody here we love to  

mention new people watching new people  we have somebody from across the pond  

as we say watching today what's in  the west welcome somebody from the us  

watching us today which is a rare occurrence for  us isn't it we don't get many people watching  

from the u.s so it's a welcome welcome  i'm always i'm always quite quite amused  

by how excited you get well we get lots  of people from south america watching

brazil argentina all over the place  but not too many from north america so  

welcome welcome i hope you find something  useful today and if you or anybody else

because it's summertime and one of the things we  always think about during this time of year is  

all of the beautiful nature not only the birds but  also the insects as well so i was asking generally  

what type of insect people like and of course we  had the the lovely choices such as butterflies  

definitely ladybugs ladybugs ladybugs or  ladybirds ladybirds we call them here but  

although of course they're not birds at  all they're just bugs in fact we've got an  

insect in this very room right now buzzing  around it's a it's a i think it's a hover fly  

yes it looks like a wasp but it sort of just  sort of hovers yes and we get a lot of those  

in the summer something we haven't been getting  many of this year which we're very grateful about  

of course is the thrips or thunderbugs as  we call them incredibly minute little black  

flies that well i can only describe as plagues  sometimes we get a plague of them which  

plague means just many many many of something  an infestation like a plague of locusts  

um and normally that means that we find  it difficult to go outside and sit outside  

because you literally they just crawl all over  you very minute two three millimeters long  

but they're incredibly irritating  and itchy they don't bite you  

do they but no but but they are annoying and  they get inside picture frames they get inside  

they get everywhere they usually come for about  a week or so and disappear but we've hardly had  

any this year so we're very grateful for that yes  very grateful we are louis asks do we like flies  

well well no we really don't like flies  house flies horse flies blue bottles  

any type of fly really because they are quite  annoying as you know if you've been watching  

me for a few years you will know that i have  a very strong dislike of flies especially if  

i'm in the kitchen or eating so if you're doing  something with food and you have flies nearby  

it annoys me anyway well um we i mean if there is  uh you know if you go to hell for killing insects  

well everyone maybe for you know killing humans  you may go to hell but i'm not sure about insects  

but if that is it does in fact happen okay i'm  going to you know real hell because i've killed  

thousands of flies using our outside fly trap yeah  can i just say that everyone kills insects all the  

time when you're walking if you go for a walk in  the meadow i can guarantee that you are killing  

hundreds of insects just just by walking along and  maybe if you're riding your bicycle maybe a fly  

will go into your mouth and you will  swallow it driving your car that fly  

is now dead you've killed a fly so if  if killing insects is seen as a sin  

we're all going to hell basically but say you  kill 3 000 flies you know within say a month  

as i have done by putting up my outside fly  trap which i think we have shown haven't we  

um i think i showed it once but not not to show it  in a positive way but also but actually to show it  

because it's really disgusting because it's  it's full of dead flies anyway anyway yes but  

anyway we've got so much to talk about good  good good glad you're well planned mr duncan  

okay i don't know what that means i'm just  conversing just trying to you know lift the mood  

because i've you know been a bit depressed  this weekend i'm trying to make myself feel  

more cheerful i am going for my second covid  vaccine tomorrow number two they're going to  

stick another large prick into me and i'm  not sure if i'm ready for it to be honest  

is anyone ever ready mr duncan there's no answer  to that oh yes uh mayori has killed lots of  

mosquitoes yes we all do it yes well um this what  this is what always gets me when people talk about  

killing animals being a sin and bad because  where do you draw the line where do animals  

stop being precious at what point so if  you say the obvious ones are dogs and cats  

you kill a cat it's awful you kill a dog terrible  but you can walk around your house squashing flies  

like there's no tomorrow you can kill hundreds of  them and no one cares isn't that strange though so  

so that they are still animals they're still  living creatures but no one cares they go oh flies  

oh they're so annoying i'm just gonna well it's  interesting isn't it because i know somebody who  

says oh i can't possibly eat lamb i  can't eat lamb i can't think about oh  

because it's awful those poor little lambs they  only live for a few months and then they die  

you know i won't eat lamb and yet they eat  beef okay so you know the cue to the animal  

in in this particular person i know  obviously the cue to the animal the less  

likely they are to eat it so don't don't eat  animals that you are attracted to i think that's  

uh you know well i'm we're not going to get into  a debate about vegetarianism oh no i wasn't going  

to we could easily do that and i think it  would be very interesting and controversial  

we like to cover the controversial  subjects don't we mr duncan  

do we we like to yes because we like the  live chat we like people to to get all frothy  

oh mr well mr duncan you're always saying that  you know we like we need lots of people getting  

excited so live chats and that will send you  out okay are you okay and you know i've got to  

find out what what steve takes just before he  comes on because he's not like this normally  

normally he's in the corner of the room on the  floor weeping wow and then suddenly he is here  

springing around like like a jackrabbit well  it's because i know i'm with all these lovely  

friends that we see every week you know you know  how sad that sounds it's not really it's not so  

what is the line where where where is the line  that you draw as far as an animal that you can  

and can't kill right so so you can't lambs sheep  what about ugly animals yes the ugly animal is  

fine yes so what about in i don't know well pigs  are quite ugly pigs yeah but lots of people don't  

want to eat them either for various reasons  so religiously yes well that's what i just  

said for various reasons well of course cows  in india sacred um lots of reasons you know so  

i don't know i it's we've had this discussion  before haven't we mister we've had every every  

discussion we've had before i think it's  interesting that to this person that i know  

i'm not going to say who they are say their name  begins with a j they'll know if they're watching  

is it your sister i don't i haven't got a sister  uh don't like to eat lamb but beef is fine still  

an animal still dying and i'm sure that that  uh that that cow well cows are very attractive  

i think cows are lovely they're my favourite  animals as you know mr duncan but yes i i  

looked up about lambs at what age they killed  them before you know they only they only they  

kill them around six to nine months old 69 months  six to nine hours between six well between six six  

months and a year i think on i think nine months  is the average which is a 1 24th of their lifespan  

so but there you go gives you an idea so with the  equivalent i worked out to a five-year-old child  

human child anyway just have you i'd like to throw  these facts and figures out there mr duncan yeah  

it's just it's just all random like a machine gun  so so what is it well so where do we stop so so  

i mean i know i know some people eat flies and  insects and all sorts of things some people do in  

certain countries certain cultures but and there  is a lot of nutrition in fact some people believe  

one day we will all be feasting off insects well  there's an endless supply yeah so um you know  

bring it on as long as it's disguised to look like  a beef burger yes you could eat it you could just  

squash the flies you could squash them and then  put a little bit of barbecue sauce on the top and  

that's it you'll never know the difference well  i mean it's the same way they managed to disguise  

peas as we've discovered because we bought some  plant burgers this week or last week it's hardly  

the same thing yes but what i'm saying is  they've got the technology to make that uh  

vegetable matter in this case i think it's mainly  peas look like a beef burger and even tastes  

slightly like i mean it didn't taste like a beef  burger but very similar so i'm sure they can turn  

flies and other insects into something  that resembles a beef burger they could  

just do it not tell us they could just say it's  something else but don't tell us that it's flies  

you know like they did a few years ago with horse  meat when they were putting they were putting  

horse meat and everything and we didn't know  but so but it still doesn't answer the question  

what what is the line cats dogs sheep what what  is the area what is the level where you can start  

killing things without worrying i mean i could  never kill a butterfly i would feel really guilty  

if i killed a butterfly because they look pretty  that's it but it's strange so we so we don't kill  

things that are cute and attractive it's bizarre  isn't it no we don't most of the most of the  

animals we eat i would say are unattractive  very strong i do like cows but nevertheless  

we have i mean we're you know talk about hypocrisy  we're guilty of literally watching the lambs  

well i'm not at the back of our house in the field  in the farmers field while simultaneously eating  

lamb yeah but i didn't know we've done that that's  not hypocrisy though they've also eaten beef while  

they've been cows at the back that is literally  not the meaning of literally waving at the animals  

and eating their ancestors are you listening  to what i'm saying yes that's not hypocrisy  

well no because we're not saying that we're  anti-meat no i'm not well i'm not anti-meat  

i'm not against meat because it keeps me nice and  warm in the winter and helps me to move around but  

i i would never say don't eat meat because  i do like eating meat and and i do like  

animals as well so i would never say oh  don't eat meat because that would make me  

a hypocrite you say because i'm tet  i'm telling you not to do something  

whilst doing the thing that i'm telling you not  to do what's in the west says i love bacon but  

of course it's a cultural belief why other people  eat certain meats or don't or don't eat any meat  

yes so that's your first thing isn't it if you're  brought up in a culture that that bans certain  

types of meat then or all meats which some  cultures do then that's your starting point  

must be quite easy if you're if you grow up  in a in a culture that uh doesn't eat animals  

uh like in most of india i think i'm right in  saying that no actually you're wrong you're  

wrong well i was going to say you know i was  going to say hinduism i don't that's what i mean  

i don't think hindus are strictly vegetarian i  think it's i i thought about that i remember many  

years ago learning about the hindu religion and  one of the things i learned was not not not all  

hindus are vegetarians but i think it is i think  it is a thing having any hindus watching today  

that is a little bit of please tell us that's a  bit of information that's inside my brain from  

when i was at school uh well let's see if it's  true uh have we anyone from india who's a hindu  

watching are all hindus vegetarian or not we  want to know because obviously we don't want  

to spread or talk about wrong information on this  channel hmm mayori has already given us the answer  

no no we are not all vegetarian right okay fine  good i thought that was the case so i'm wrong  

i stand corrected and i am standing so i am  corrected as i stand here before you thank you  

i'm right i'm right well that means somebody who  somebody from india told me wrong information then  

or you just weren't listening i'm  going with the letter you weren't  

listening so what are we talking about today  mr duncan well we've been talking for the last  

35 minutes about insects uh before you came on in  fact and then after you came on and right up until  

this very second that's what we've been talking  about you've got words connected with insects  

no we are we are actually talking today about  something completely different can you believe  

yes i like to mix things up you see so it's  not just one subject we can talk about anything  

that's the wonderful thing about doing a live  stream is you can talk about almost anything  

so how did the subject of insects get started i  mentioned it okay fair enough it's your channel  

we have the sentence game coming up today but  also we have today's main topic and today we are  

asking i don't think it's an unusual question  i think it is quite a quite a good question  

today we are looking at the pros and cons so when  we talk about the pros and cons quite often we are  

talking about the positive things and they are the  pros and the negative things or the downside of  

something and they are the cons the pros and the  cons but what about the words themselves mr steve  

what about them do you know why we say the pros  and the cons please tell us please enlighten us  

pro-derail from latin and means for so if you  are pro something it means you are for that thing  

and it derives from the word pro from latin for  

and then we have khan and that also derives from  latin and it means against so for example contrite  

is against something so the full the derivative  of khan is contrite you are doing something that  

is the opposite or you are against something so  that's the reason why we say pro when we are for  

something or maybe something that is favourable or  good and khan is something that is often against  

or something that is not favourable so when we  talk about the pros and cons well first of all  

when we talk about the pros we are talking about  the benefits of things so i suppose it's fair  

to say that everything has a pro everything has  some sort of benefit what are the pros of being  

vegetarian yes we will talk about that a little  bit later on the pros and cons so the cons we can  

say that they are the disadvantages the things  that go against what you are doing or the thing  

you have something you want to do maybe a certain  type of job there might be a good side to that job  

or a bad side we describe those as the pros and  cons the pros can also be the upside of something  

so quite often we say imagine a coin a coin a  coin often has two sides in fact it virtually  

always does i think i think it does mr duncan  yes unless it's one of those square coins  

that has lots and lots of sides it might be a  cube you see imagine that if coins became cubes  

your pocket will be bulging all over the place so  the pros are the upside of something the upside  

of a certain thing and the opposite of course the  cons the downside of something so we are talking  

about the downside negatives the negatives  yes so the pros are the positives the good  

things the things that might bring some benefit  to you and then as steve just said quite rightly  

the cons they are the negatives the downside  and i suppose it would be fair to say that  

all things have their prose and cons so in  a few moments we're going to list the pros  

and cons of certain things and you can join in as  well so we are going to name some things a little  

bit later on steve and what we're going to do  is name the pros the good things and the cons  

the bad things or the bad sides of things  the benefits are the good things and  

the detriments are the bad things the detriments  that's a great word by the way so detriment just  

means the downside something that makes a certain  thing appear bad it is the detriment or maybe we  

can say detrimental as well something that  makes one thing appear bad so the benefits  

are the good things that come your way and  the detriments well that's the opposite  

of benefit and that means the downside all  of the bad things that might come your way

what you gain are the pros  and what you lose are the cons  

so everything everything in your life everything  we come across everything we do everything we  

see everything that exists you might say that they  all have something you gain and something you lose  

the ability to win is pro would you  describe yourself as a winner mr steve  

have you would you say you are a person  who moves forward you you you aim to win  

i think well i've made it to this age yes  uh so i would probably say that on balance  

i've had mo more wins than losses uh because  otherwise i'd be living in a cardboard box  

we all would yes so you know sometimes two steps  forward and one step back but yes um yeah i i what  

about yourself mr duncan well i'm not sure if i  am a winner but i always try to look on the bright  

side of things but i suppose in this situation  something that you do so for example being on  

youtube are there things that are the pro or could  be described as the the the winning side of being  

on youtube i'm not sure if there are many to to be  honest i think sometimes the bad things outnumber  

the good things so when i i talk about the pros  of being on youtube i suppose it's a good way of  

meeting new people and finding out about different  people around the world different cultures i think  

that is a good thing being on youtube it allows  you to come into contact with people you would not  

normally talk to so i suppose that is that  is a big pro i and also the the downside  

and there is there is in fact there are many  downsides of being on youtube we know all  

those mr duncan because you tell us about them  virtually every week that's it there's too many  

there's too many to mention but there are there  are some good things about being on youtube  

but there are there are also some some  bad things lewis says that con in french  

is slang which means stupid oh so different  meaning uh there uh i wouldn't be surprised  

if it if it derives from the same direction as  as being against so maybe a person who is clever  

is is someone who is giving a lot and maybe  someone who is not so clever or stupid might  

be a person who who is against all that so  there might be a slight connection i'm not sure  

alarussia said something interesting earlier that  she feels guilty uh even eating a carrot because  

carrots are living things yes i've often  thought that even you know if you're  

i mean animals and plants are both living things

but they're you know so how can you eat anything  anyway that's just uh that's just another subject  

altogether no i think that's that's fair enough  uh but yes we could talk about the pros and cons  

of eating meat or the pros and cons of not eating  meat couldn't yes and it does prove that there are  

always two sides to one coin so there's always a  good sign and a bad side a pro and a con so for  

example here we are looking at the negative the  chances of losing is the con it is the downside  

so you might gain something but there is a good  chance that you will also lose something as well  

there might be something you have to give up maybe  you move to another part of the country steve  

and you get a good job however there will also  be some cons as well which means that maybe you  

will be far away from your family so you won't be  able to see them so the pro is maybe your job is  

better and maybe you will earn more money but you  will have to move away from all your friends and  

relatives so that would be the con so you are  kind of losing contact with people around you  

yes there's very rarely just upsides or cons to  anything there's usually always a downside as well  

but do the pros outweigh the cons and therefore  make it worth doing as you say like a new job  

so you might you might get a new job with much  higher pay you know you've been offered double pay  

to go and move to maybe even another country  or another part of the same country and you're  

getting more pay you're being promoted but you've  maybe lost a lot of friends and you don't see  

them so much or your family or maybe you feel  homesick maybe it takes you a long time to adapt  

uh to your new environment but hopefully in the  long term then the benefits of your choice will  

outweigh the negatives or the cons because you  might become vastly successful in your new job  

and become a multi-millionaire and thus um you  can say that you've gained more than you've lost  

so i i think there are pros and cons to everything  and quite often if you want to achieve something  

if you want to win quite often you have to accept  all of the cons that come with it you have to  

accept that there will be difficulties maybe  pain maybe hardship maybe there will be things  

that you have to overcome so even something like  you know winning the lottery yeah it would sound  

that would be that is coming up later ah yes okay  so we don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves  

so let's have a look at some things steve  that might have pros and cons would you  

like to have a look yes definitely here we  go here's the first one and you can join in  

as well because it is your show we are just  the the glue that holds everything together

the pros and cons of technology oh  

so first of all the good things can  you think of a good thing steve no

i'm i'm a bit of a technophobe that must be one  that doesn't uh well what particular technology  

that's i mean just technology general or generally  or just well well in this respect let me think of  

mobile phones and that that's a relatively new  technology to well i mean when i say relatively  

new but 30 years it's been around now i can see  the advantages big advantages of not having to  

put coins into telephone kiosks and wait there  in the freezing cold while somebody answers and  

then you run out of money so a mobile phone has  transformed the way we live our lives but on the  

other hand it makes us more accessible all the  time so you have more people calling you your  

boss will call you wherever you are out and about  same with emails emails are very quick and fast  

and this is the thing i find with technology and  a lot of people say this something comes along to  

try and save time technologies often comes around  to save time or to make things more efficient  

but it often creates its own problems in that  it generates a lot more work because it's become  

more efficient so you're able to do more things  so i i was talking first of all about the pros  

so the good things first so we don't want the  bad things we want the good things so another one  

another obvious one i can't believe you didn't say  this either steve was keeping in touch with people  

keeping in touch with people and and being able  to see them face to face well um jagdish says i  

can see your video because of technology you can  see this live stream today i'm not sure if that is  

a pro or a con well um what's in the west made a  very nice comment earlier uh which is uh you're a  

huge pro in the youtube world oh okay they said so  thank you very much for that i wish you would tell  

youtube about that yes can you go to to the uh  uh offices of youtube and tell them all about mr  

duncan and how that they should they should alter  their algorithms to make mr duncan more visible  

to more people around the world and i i want  that whoever writes their algorithm programs  

i want them to to rewrite part of it that says  mr duncan can have as many viewers as he wants  

and we're not going to to withhold them we're not  going to stop people from seeing his videos or  

his live stream so that would be very nice if  you could if you could ask youtube about that  

that would be lovely but the thing is during  this very weird period of time with lockdown  

and all the other silly nonsense that's going  on where oh it's just i don't know any i don't  

understand the rules anymore to be honest i  don't think anyone does but but during lockdown  

technology has had a very big pro for  example it's allowed you to see your mother

that might be joking that might also be a con  we're not sure well it's been a big pro to my  

mother being able to see me oh i say so for your  mother it's been a pro but for you i can't it's  

you know anyway no i'm joking i'm joking uh  yes so yes that's what i mean a double-edged  

sword so if you say a double-edged sword it means  something that is the pros and the cons isn't  

it yes some things uh there are benefits but  also disadvantages to everything can you think  

of anything that is just all pro and no con no can  you think of anything i don't think there is that  

is just okay i can name something straight away  just out of my brain but even that has a con water  

water is the most amazing thing without water  there would be no life on this planet anywhere  

there would be nothing there there would be no  life we wouldn't be here now talking i wouldn't  

be wearing my lovely hat and mr steve wouldn't be  wearing his lovely shirt we wouldn't be here at  

all and nor would you without water but of course  water stream water has a downside there is a con  

of water and i suppose one of the biggest cons  is the fact that we need it isn't that bizarre  

so our on our reliance or our need for water  is almost a negative thing because there are  

many people who can't get water or can't find  water or have water to drink or fresh water  

so it's strange even even the very thing that  that created all of the life on this planet

almost you could drown in water yes and of course  too much water we've been having too much rain  

in parts of china in germany and netherlands and  places like that causing floods so yes um i mean  

if you drink too much water you can die that's a  strange one mr duncan water yeah that's a strange  

one to pick i think no it's not us no that was my  example of how even something that appears useful  

has a downside yes even i think it's a good  thing winning the lottery i think it's one  

of the best ones i can think of something  that is all is all uh con and no pro marriage

is that it am i right i was thinking death oh for  goodness sake you know because i mean yeah there's  

got to be no upsides to that and less unless  you've ended your own life in which case it's  

probably a good thing for you uh not the young  know it because you're dead that's the paradox but  

yes i can't think of an ups unless it's a horrible  murderous killer that's been terrorizing society  

uh then yeah i can't i can't think then that  would be an advantage to everybody else but to an  

individual dying that there can't be any upsides  to that assuming that you wanted to stay alive  

wow there we go you said water was a terrible  one that that doesn't make any sense so is there  

anything else that that that's very that's  a con you can only have pros and cons if you  

know the outcome but yes but yeah okay so  so death death actually can't really have  

a pro or a con because we don't we don't know we  don't know the what happens after you say ah oh  

we don't that's true we may be ascending to a  greater place yes or we don't know that or we just  

it's just eternal blackness  we will have to wait and see  

this is really cheerful i hope you're enjoying  a sunday afternoon yes belarusia says if you  

put too much water on your plant it will die  true yeah and yes the roots need oxygen and yet  

without water the plants would not be there  in the first place a balance it's a balance  

strange always a balance yes so the pros and  cons of something else now we've done technology  

oh steve the pros and cons of energy now i'm sure  you know what i mean by that what do you mean well  

it's obvious isn't it energy  the things we the things we use  

to to generate electricity to drive our cars to  to make everything work so we can sit at home at  

night and watch rubbish on television so you mean  electricity or electricity uh you can pronounce  

that in two ways how would you pronounce it  electricity or electricity i would say leki

uh yes that's it and uh of course oil  to to to power cars yes i think we know  

i think we know what energy is yes we all know  everyone knows what energy is i thought you meant  

you know me full of energy i thought you know  that's that type of whatever you've got going  

on there that is not energy that's something  else that's that's that's something that needs  

to be determined by by a specialist but the pros  and cons of energy so so think of a good thing  

an upside of energy well we've got and  again without electricity we wouldn't be  

on youtube we wouldn't electricity is one of the  technologies uh if you can call it that has led  

to humanity sort of progressing as it as it is i  mean you can't imagine a world without electricity  

uh so we're doing lights at night we'd be going  to bed every night you know as the sun went down  

we'd be getting up when the sun came up just like  ancient man used to do don't we do that anyway  

well not really we stay up don't we  long hours after the sun goes down  

uh in the winter although there is that thing  called fire which is very good yes but i mean  

you know candles i suppose you could still  use candles but it'd be very difficult to  

you know read books with candles this is really  straying away from what i'm talking about so a  

good thing about energy it allows us to to now i  was going to say steve it allows us to stay warm  

today when it's when it's cold and it allows us to  stay cold or cool when it's hot so energy in that  

respect so you might have central heating to keep  your house warm you need gas or maybe electricity  

so energy has an upside and do i need to even  mention the downside i mean really well it's  

talked about everywhere now isn't it you  know climate change really all that yeah  

exactly finding new forms of energy is is probably  the the nearest the nearest we can get to turning  

a con into a pro so you're trying to get those  those damaging things and somehow turn them into  

something that is still good so for example wind  power solar panel power things like that but we  

saw a very interesting report the other day didn't  it steve about a company that that is involved in  

mining bitcoin and they've actually set up their  main premises or their main business next to  

a disused gas power station which was closed  down yeah that's what i just said decisions not  

environmental reasons yes and yes a bitcoin mine  presumably because they've closed them all down  

in china uh this is the united states yes that's  what i mean so that all that all that uh business  

is moving now from china to other parts of the  world most of it i think is coming across to  

america and south america and yes but yes exactly  so i just thought it was amazing that they've well  

i haven't got to the point of the story yet the  point of the story is they've actually reactivated  

this gas power station and just so they can  power all of the computers thousands of computers  

that are being used to try and find those little  ones and zeros around the world that are being  

generated so it it does seem strange that you  have to hunt for them it's a bit like pokemon  

so imagine bitcoin like playing pokemon go you've  got to find them you've got to keep looking for  

them because they are generated randomly so  they all of these thousands of computers have  

to keep looking and looking which of course uses  a lot of energy so this one company has actually

restarted the gas power station so they can  power their computers which i thought was amazing  

and also slightly disturbing at the same time  

it is it is a bit odd i mean i think we will solve  the problem of cheap uh pollution-free carbon-free  

energy i think humanity will solve that problem  yeah uh and we are getting very close with uh  

what's that what's that um power source  they're trying to develop i can't think  

what it's called i don't know that's  like the sun it's as hot as the sun  

uh but it uses virtually no energy at all it's not  hydrogen no no it's not what it's called now uh

not nuclear it's like it's the op it's  like nuclear power but it's it's it's  

the opposite but it produces vast amounts  of energy it's the opposite of nuclear we we  

definitely need that well it produces it produces  energy like the sun does instead of through  

through fission rather than i i can't i don't  know all the details but it's the whatever the sun  

does that's what we're trying to develop  the energy source on earth i've been trying  

trying to get it for decades it will come to me  somebody will will tell me i'm sure uh i hope so  

yes uh and they're getting very close to that uh  very close to it um so uh you know hopefully we  

will i mean actually actually nuclear power is  the best in terms of carbon isn't it because uh  

it doesn't produce really any pollution apart from  the radioactive waste yeah that's it you can deal  

with that yes okay steve yeah i've got to move  on right okay fine you started the subject well  

i didn't actually i'm just looking at the pros and  cons but you you've decided to turn into a greta  

thundberg speech the pros and cons of energy let's  have a look at something else shall we hopefully  

we can what are the pros and cons of your channel  how about that should we do that i think you've  

already have already mentioned that haven't i not  nuclear what's in the west there's another one  

steve yes the pros and cons of humans fusion  no yes it's like fusion i can't really call it  

what yes dear man it's fusion not fishing or the  other all the other way around one of the two can  

i just say no one cares i do and i want to know  once i want to want to know what it is somebody  

you're telling me the pros and cons steve i think  that is steve yes the pros and cons of humans what  

you picking some very odd subjects mr duncan  i don't think this is an odd one i think this  

is pretty good the pros and cons of humans our  existence on this planet is it a good thing or  

a bad thing or maybe it is a little bit of both  i think it's good for me i'd say it's good for me  

but is it good for me it's good for all of  you because you're all here but uh if you're  

consuming vast amounts of energy and owning three  or four cars yes but okay steve we're not having  

to keep racing and then you keep racing ahead the  pros we're not talking pros the pros of humans  

probably the only pros of humans i would say  there's only one and that's the fact that  

you and i exist and are conscious of that fact  i can't think of any other advantages because i  

don't think that we're really helping the planet  very much no but that that's interesting but  

but don't you think that there should be more the  list should be a little bit longer you would think  

there would there would be many pros but actually  the fascinating thing is there aren't many  

i know that is interesting actually that yeah  well that's why i chose it if you think of it on a  

larger scale on a planetary scale i can't think of  any are there any advantages of us being here no  

because we are sort of messing everything  up aren't we yes but that's not what i'm  

talking about i'm talking about the pros  yeah i know can you think of any pros  

uh apart from you me and all  our lovely friends existing  

um or maybe in the future maybe in the future  we will you know humans will save the universe  

in some way the universe we can't even we can't  even take care of this little blue pebble that  

we're sitting on never mind the universe so it's  interesting i i i thought of this earlier when i  

was writing this steve and i suddenly realized i  couldn't think of any i couldn't think of any pros  

yes yes that's strange yes tom it is latin we've  explained that earlier yes yes you couldn't think  

of anybody yes can anyone think of any prose  do you mean the of the existence of just humans  

existing on the planet well yes i can't think  of any other way what have we done that's been  

positive to the planet no no anything yeah  do anything yeah anything yeah i can't  

it's very hard to answer that isn't that  weird now steve so you can let let loose now  

what about the cons of humans existing on this  planet and i i have a feeling there might be  

quite a few isn't that strange i know but that's  that's the point i'm making well that's a good  

point mr duncan oh by the way it's all been  it's all been explained thank you very much  

uh fission is nuclear power fusion power is  is is the one where it's you know combining  

hydrogen atoms you know that you know this is  the opposite it's the opposite of what happens  

in a nuclear reactor is fission things  splitting apart whereas fusion power is  

is the atoms being fused together and that is  much cleaner i think i've got that right now  

and that's the one that is this is going to  solve everything and thus will be a pro on  

the human side mr duncan a pro because we will  develop fusion power which is clean yes and you  

know can produce any vast amounts of it and that  will be the the secret of us maybe making the  

planet better yeah but we're still going to  be here and we're still going to be sort of  

doing things that that might still be harmful to  the planet anyway another con here's another one  

another negative of humans existing on this planet  is the fact there's just maybe too many of us

i think that's very controversial but some people  have said there are not too many groups of people  

but too many people on the planet itself so  i'm not talking about individual places or  

areas i'm just saying generally the planet earth  there are too many people on there using up all  

of the resources and and maybe people having  more and more and more kids hatching more and  

more humans out as the populations of many  countries start to expand more and more so  

there are two sides of that i suppose there might  be pros and cons of procreation isn't that bizarre  

well there's a calculation in in if you look this  up i think i don't know the details okay well  

please have the details assess the  environmental if you wanted to assess  

you can you can there's a series of questions to  assess your environmental impact on the planet uh  

which is mainly measured in the amount of co2  that you will produce in your lifetime yes you  

know from eating from buying clothes driving  cars going in planes all that sort of thing  

yeah well it's your carbon footprint that's it you  can do a calculation of your environmental impact  

but if you have children then you you double that  straight away or treble it oh okay well what is  

it well i'm no i'm just saying that when you have  a if you have a child i'm not saying you know i'm  

not saying i'm before and against chill having  children but the impact is that when you have a  

child if you replace yourself and then because  then that that your son or daughter might have  

another child and another one and it's just  increasing your impact has to be measured from  

not just you yourself what you do but the result  of everything you do including having children  

because those children will go on to eat consume  fly planes have you know imagine that imagine you  

know you immediately doubled your carbon footprint  when you have one child so that so that is quite  

sobering when you think controversial but think  about it i don't think it's controversial i don't  

i think we've we've we've been talking a lot  about people's carbon footprint i've said this  

to people i've had arguments with people about  this and it's not i've got to have children i've  

got to have children you can't count children  in my environmental impact well i think you can  

well you you're effectively bringing another  life into being that will once again use  

up the resources of the planet and and some  people of course have three maybe four kids  

so that's that's a lot of impact that  those those little people will have over  

the forth coming years valentina says humans are  capable of the best and the worst of things true  

exactly that's very very very i've heard that  phrase before um yeah lovely we can't think  

nobody has said uh well what's in the west say the  pros humans make the world beautiful to live in  

but too many cons to mention  yes i mean we can make things  

art yes but that's only there for us to enjoy  it doesn't it it doesn't benefit anything  

you see art doesn't make anything better you  mean on the planetary scale well on anything as  

as the existence of of this planet and humans  existing on it so art is just for other humans to  

enjoy i mean animals aren't enjoying it you don't  see many many tigers walking around the louvre  

admiring the mona lisa so that's that's my  point i i don't think there are any pros  

to humans being on the planet which  which is bizarre when you think about it  

that is really weird i must admit  i find that i find that quite  

that almost blows your mind yeah well yeah nobody  else has come up with any here's the final one

money ah right well

i don't know much about the pros of  money because i haven't got that much  

i'm sure you can imagine can  you imagine you're joking  

well you're not you're well you're not rich well  you see i've never been sort of i've never been a  

consumer you know in terms of i don't see  myself as materialistic i've never wanted for  

material things apart from cars okay  well we're not talking about that again  

yes i have to keep explaining so give us some  pros of money well it it uh it gives you freedom  

that's what they say about money it gives you  freedom gives you choices you're not tied to  

a job having to go to work nine to five and  something that you might not like it gives you  

choices is what the people say if you financially  independent you're not dependent on a job for  

money uh then it gives you freedom to do whatever  you like i know that's the main advantage  

there must be more than that power gives you power  particularly if you have a lot of it yes well even  

if you've got say twice as much as somebody else  it still gives you a bit of psychological power uh  

i think sometimes people that get a lot of money  you know they can change can't they they can  

change the way they view other people yes anyway  that's a con the prose self-esteem that's the word  

i was looking for so your self-esteem can actually  go up because you feel oh i i'm i'm i'm wealthy  

i'm rich i'm better than other people so that is a  pro even though it might seem like a selfish thing  

to the individual it is actually a positive thing  and that is again why these things are so bizarre  

because to other people around them that might  not be a pro that might be the the downside of  

it because that person becomes maybe selfish  or arrogant so with with self-esteem you can  

sometimes also become quite arrogant as a person  another pro i suppose well you said freedom  

i like that one yes freedom freedom choices gives  you choices so freedom to explore the planet  

travel around maybe you can help other people with  the money that you have you can give some of the  

money to charity yes so so you can help other  people so i would say that there are many pros  

many upsides and of course uh you know we we say  a lot in in business without without companies or  

individuals and companies making lots of money  it means that we don't have an economy which  

means we don't have money generally in society in  businesses in the economy helps people have jobs  

i mean when you think about how our lives have  changed just in our lifetimes in the 40 50 years  

that we've sort of been conscious of everything  everyone now compared to when i grew up even  

uh we're we're all a lot better  off now than we were in my parents  

time you know they didn't have gas  lights and you know i think everyone  

tends to agree in in not in every country  but certainly in america great britain  

europe i think the quality of our lives due  to money i mean it is mainly been due to  

the economy which is money has improved  everyone's lives it i think generally  

healthier uh you know we we're not you know you  know that's what they're generally saying okay

i don't know what you were saying but it doesn't  work in all countries does it obviously well well  

no well this again we have the cons you see yeah  so that's it so there are many pros to to money  

the existence of money so not necessarily having  money but the existence of the money the the means  

of earning money or having money so it is a  way of maybe giving you something to to aim for  

so i think money is a little bit like the the  carrot on the end of the stick so so if i say  

to you mr steve oh look look at that lovely juicy  carrot would you like it and then you say oh yes  

i would well the carrot is money so it is getting  you to to do things or to move forward or to aim  

for something in your life so you  might say the pursuit of money  

is what drives most of us to to actually live  our lives and do things because without money  

you can't do anything yes because we we live in  a system where you know we're not in the barter  

system anymore you know hundreds of years  ago or thousands of years ago whenever it  

was when there wasn't money before money  existed you know we we were we were you  

know somebody would grow some crops uh i might  grow some wheat uh but i actually want a pig  

so i'd say well i'd say to the person who has  pigs or i've got i can have one of your pigs  

and you say yeah can i have some of your wheat  that's how society used to exist before money  

you had something that somebody else wanted and  vice versa because that's very inefficient so we  

we developed invented money to make things more  efficient wouldn't it be great if he could use  

poop as money imagine that imagine if one  one day they said that that they found  

a new type of machine that can run off  poop people's poop and then suddenly  

poop will will will have this amazing value  no wait there i haven't finished yet steve  

poop will suddenly have this amazing value they'll  be weighing it like gold and you'll be going  

along collecting all of your poop to putting  into this big machine because it needs poop  

so it can it can drive everything that happens on  the planet all the machinery all the electricity  

that would be amazing suddenly poop will  be valuable well it's good for your roses  

yeah uh horse manure uh well you you can put um  i'm surprised you see when when all the effluent  

the sewage goes to a sewage farm okay to be  processed uh by all those little bacteria uh  

it all gets broken down i think a lot of it gets  turned into methane and things like that which  

they really should be harnessing that meat thing  you know and storing it as gas okay and using it  

to power things so what what is this the pros  and cons of is this the pros and cons of poop  

i don't know i wasn't talking about that but  anyway yes there'll be lots of smelly fingers if  

poop was used for money says imagine that imagine  not necessarily like money you wouldn't go to the

you could be unhappy for example you know  what i'm like i'm miserable most of the time  

i'm sure if somebody gave me a million pounds  tomorrow i'd probably still be miserable most  

of the time you will you probably wouldn't  because you know i'm not going to go out and  

get pleasure from buying lots of things it  doesn't never been something that excites me

i've ever met in my life i am not into i'm  not into jewellery or gold or shiny things  

my clothes most of my clothing  is very old i've said this before  

i don't like repeating myself but i'm i'm not  a materialistic person i don't i don't like  

shiny things i never buy jewellery i never  i never have anything that looks expensive  

i suppose the only thing is the watch that mr  steve gave me but this is my treasured possession  

maybe my only treasured possession you see  well i mean something that's been bought  

i don't remember buying you or did i um tamek says  he prefers money to love who doesn't yeah well  

money's not going to let you down i suppose but  you know you could be let down by love money hurt  

money will never cheat on you no money money will  never lie you could lose it unless you had it in  

gold bars in which case you probably fairly safe  you know why because money money has no conscience

that's deep yes you could use money to make  

other people happy and to help other people  yes well that would be something i would do

but i mean i would imagine you must get i mean  at what point say you won the won the lottery  

and you had i don't know you won 10 million  

dollars or euros or pounds which is more money  than anyone ever really needs but at what point  

there's always going to be somebody that's richer  than you if you pursue money as a thing in itself  

there's always going to be somebody so you might  you might for example have a million pounds  

so you buy yourself a nice yacht you know a nice  boat and then you go to a you know you go to  

cairns or somewhere like this in france and  you you moor your boat your lovely nice new  

shiny boat uh there and then somebody else with  one three times the size comes and parks right  

by you because they've got 10 million pounds  they park do they uh they moor up by you who  

park so you suddenly now you know you've left your  world with all your other neighbours who are just  

ordinary working people because you you've  got a million pounds you've won the lottery  

so you're you feel better than them because  you've got more money than or everybody in your  

neighbourhood but then you go out into the world  with spend this money and then you right the boat  

and you go you moor up in cans and then somebody  comes along who's got 10 times much money than you  

and their boat's three times as big so you  suddenly feel oh dear you don't feel very wealthy  

anymore because there's somebody but that person  then somebody comes and parks by them because  

they're a billionaire and they've got a yacht 10  times as big yes you've just made that point three  

times by the way where do you stop i mean the only  people that are at the top are jeff bezos and and  

people in you know microsoft boss and yeah they're  they're at the top microsoft boss what's his name  

uh who's the richest man in the world is  it is it jeff bezos amazon boss i think  

another richest oh okay steve just you know i  know who isn't i know two people who are not  

the richest people in the world and that's us so i  think the secret is if you get lots of money live  

amongst poor people and then you will always feel  good well that's that's awful i know it's awful  

but yeah i'm just i'm sort of joking in a way i  don't know what you're doing so i think mr duncan  

if you ever become a multi-millionaire because  of your youtube channel but i don't want to  

yeah well i wish you would because anyway  but if you did if you know what's in the  

west has got a contact in youtube and says  oh come on mr duncan should be more popular

and suddenly money comes flooding into mr duncan's  account uh then we'll never move from here because  

you know we'll always feel richer than everybody  else that's the secret and we can always smugly

and that's the secret get lots of money don't go  anywhere where there's people that got more money  

than you otherwise you're going to feel inferior  anyway well it doesn't matter how how much you  

have there's always another person somewhere out  there who has more than you it's always going to  

happen so even if whatever amount of money you  have there will you will you will eventually  

meet another person who is richer than you and  you are going to feel bad about it so that's it  

as you said you're you're the person next door to  you has a bigger yacht the person next door has  

has a bigger helicopter or a larger mansion it's  you can't win that game once you start that game  

you are doomed it's true but yes that's it well  we're getting uh comments from from various people
