oh very interesting it's all a little bit different today we are doing something slightly

different i hope you will enjoy this i hope at least one person enjoys this even if it's

only me hello everyone nice to see you here we are on a very gloomy damp day here in england

and yes it is another day of our special series of live streams during the month of february

or should i say february how are you today

oh

there you are hi everybody this is mr duncan in england how are you today are you okay

i hope so i hope you are happy as well are you happy i hope so here we are we've made

it to another day and my voice is starting to go so today i'm trying to give my voice

a little bit of a rest so i thought we would do something slightly different so today we

are going to look out the window and we are going to watch the traffic not only that but

you will be able to join in as well we are going to play spot the white van however we

are also going to look out for other vehicles as well that coming a little bit later on

of course for those who don't know what this is or who i am sometimes i don't know who

i am sometimes in the morning i wake up and i have no idea who i am or what i'm doing

or why i'm here

and then eventually my my brain boots up and everything is all right again so yes i talk

about the english language i've been doing this forever such a long time nearly 15 years

i've been here on youtube a lot of people don't believe me but it's true oh this morning

i couldn't resist going outside this morning having a look in the garden because the snowdrops

have come out and also we have some other flowers coming up as well you will see them

in a moment there are lots of lovely flowers coming up right now in the garden and this

is the voice i will be using today i'm trying to rest my voice or else i will lose it completely

so there you can see some lovely snowdrops growing in the garden and this is something

that i filmed just a few minutes before i came on i couldn't resist going outside to

film some of the flowers and look oh look what has arrived the daffodils are out well

at least they're growing they are currently at the stage of being bids buds i like that

word bud buds so they are not open the flowers have not opened yet but they are coming up

yes it really does now feel like spring is on the way because the daffodils are coming

up daffodils and snow drops whenever we see these flowers it always feels as if spring

is on the way and i think that is what is happening right now it really does feel nice

today even though the weather doesn't look good it's not a nice day here but it is incredibly

warm it's around 14 degrees today so it feels very mild when you are outside and also some

good news apparently on friday and saturday and also sunday the weather here is going

to be rather nice some sunshine very warm so i might be outside either friday or saturday

we will be outside and of course my 28 days of february comes to an end next sunday but

i will be doing my final day with mr steve of course as well because it will be sunday

a little different today yes we have made it to the middle of the week once more because

it's wednesday

wednesday is here how has your week been has it been a good week i hope so it's a strange

day today because we are here together live on youtube but i want to do something different

and this is something that i've wanted to do for a while to be honest we have the live

because we are going to play spot the white van but we are also going to spot other vehicles

as well in the distance and whilst we're doing that you can have a chat on the live stream

little look outside and then we will also see if we can identify some of the vehicles

duncan you mentioned spiders yesterday i mentioned them but i didn't show them

and many of you have said mr duncan do you know that spiders are not insects yes i know

that they are a different form of creature but yes you are right because insects normally

have six legs and spiders have eight yes i know that i know sometimes sometimes i feel

that you think i am stupid

lots of people now watching around the world we are going to have a look outside because

we're doing something different today we are going to watch the road that i always like

to feature during my live streams we can watch them together and if you see any vehicles

if you see any interesting vehicles on the road and i was watching earlier and there

were some amazing lorries vans all sorts of shapes and sizes going by there was also a

man walking around in one of the fields and i was watching him from eight miles away so

we will be going live with our camera watching the road

under this video so underneath the video is is a description of today's live stream but

also underneath there is a playlist as well with all of my february lessons on there so

you can watch them as many times as you want let's have a look outside because i can see

lots of vehicles going by in fact there are many vehicles going by right now so i'm going

to turn my camera on it will also give me a chance to drink some water and we can have

a little chat together this will allow me to save my voice because i am losing my voice

today and to be honest with you i don't want to because my voice is is everything without

my voice i can't do anything i'm completely helpless some people say that i'm very helpless

so there we go you can see the familiar sight looking into the distance there are two roads

in the distance there is one road going across the middle of the screen and there is also

another road further away you can see there are some some birds flying by a couple of

crows going by so sometimes when you are watching a video or maybe a live webcam it is good

to describe what you see and this is something i've always said describing things is a very

good way of improving your vocabulary and also your word power so i always say that

describing things is a great way of improving your english so you are using your eyes but

also you are using your brain as well oh hello what do we have here we have a white van in

the distance yes i think that was a white van and also a large lorry in fact today i

should be able to identify these vehicles so i think we just had a very large truck

did you see the truck go by so we had a very large truck driving along the road and quite

often these particular vehicles are used for delivering lots of items quite often to supermarkets

you will see these large trucks or lorries so in english we often call this a lorry but

you can also call it a truck as well some people also call it a juggernaut juggernaut

i like that word a juggernaut is a long vehicle normally with a movable axle so the axle can

move backwards and forwards so you can see there are lots of large vehicles on the road

today we are looking for white fans but also if we see any interesting vehicles on the

road i will try to identify them for you what a lovely thing to do oh hello to serena for

those wondering what is this mr duncan what are you doing to us i'm trying something different

i would imagine that no one has ever done this before on youtube and they will probably

never do it again but we are watching the road one of the main roads that comes in and

out of much wenlock and that is where i am at the moment broadcasting to you so there

are lots of cars driving backwards and forwards and sometimes you will see some large vehicles

maybe you will see a truck a juggernaut or perhaps you will see a large white van that's

a big white van ah that is a big one mr duncan oh there there you go you see so i think that

was that was a large white van going by then you might sometimes see a bus going by and

this particular bus that you can see is actually one that drives around this area so if we

are very lucky today we might see one of these an actual bus go by oh mr duncan this is so

exciting

some people also like to go out and about in their caravans so quite often you will

see people pulling or towing one of these behind their cars caravanning has become very

popular at the moment a lot of people are enjoying driving around in their caravans

and even though they are not allowed to go very far but one of the beautiful things about

having a mobile home is that you can drive anywhere with it

i think i just saw a white van then was that a white van oh it was a red van so once again

we have a we have a very large white van going by wow there it was i identified that a large

white van and that is the thing we love seeing on the road i must admit whenever i see a

white van on the road i always get very excited i shed a tear i have to wipe away a tear because

of the emotion of seeing a van a white fan busy doing what it does best delivering all

those wonderful things to people who are waiting patiently for them to arrive

hello hello also to marietta is here now hello marietta we are watching the road very carefully

today we are trying to see some vehicles maybe we will see one of these perhaps we will see

one of these vehicles this particular thing is used for transporting cement from one place

to another perhaps you have them in your country perhaps you you see a lot of these on the

road especially if there is some large construction taking place near to where you live

a cement mixer but this is also used for transporting wet cement so we might see one of these today

go by

very patient you see i'm a very patient person and i can wait for as long as it takes oh

there was another white van

we had another white van there everyone wow

now i i have been asked to explain why i keep trying to spot the white vans well at the

moment you might say that those white van drivers are are the heroes at the moment because

they are transporting all of the essential things the essential goods sometimes they

have to make emergency deliveries so maybe something that is needed in a hurry the van

will drive to that place to make the delivery so i think at the moment during these strange

times that we are living in i think it is a good idea just to pay tribute to those van

drivers keeping everyone safe with their their face masks their emergency supplies and also

something they've ordered off amazon perhaps to make them happy

so i suppose we should really have a round of applause for the for the white van drivers

tarzan hello tarzan what is the meaning of spot in this class the word spot means see

so you are trying to see something you are trying to see a particular thing you are trying

to spot something so in this particular sense the word spot is used to mean view or see

so we are trying to see something oh there is another white van but that particular white

van has has windows and i can show you that white van so there is a white van sometimes

you will see white vans and they will have windows and people sitting inside which is

what we just saw

and of course we also saw another white van and there is another white van oh my goodness

so now you can see why i'm doing this it's such a good game maybe you can try playing

this next week when you are out and about if you are allowed to go out and walk around

maybe you can play your own game i've spot the white van how many white vans can you

spot near your house

tomek tomek is being very awkward aren't they paid for this job it is like applauding a

pilot who landed a plane safely can i just tell you tomek sometimes i have been on a

plane and the passengers have actually applauded applauded they have clapped for the pilot

normally just after missing a mountain

but yes if if a pilot has to land an airplane in very difficult conditions quite often the

passengers will will give a round of applause so i thought it was nice white van drivers

sometimes are criticized a lot they are criticized but i think sometimes we have to acknowledge

these these people acknowledge the service that they give every day of the week and quite

often you will see you will see delivery drivers on the road on sunday as well so many years

ago that is something you would not see but nowadays it is not unusual to see delivery

drivers going around

oh did you see that that was one of those one of those just went by so that is a large

truck a large van quite often used for moving things perhaps if a person is moving house

they might use one of these oh and there is a bus a large bus in fact i think that is

a coach not a bus there it goes probably carrying some passengers taking them somewhere

i'm not sure where at the moment because you're not allowed to go anywhere so we are still

in lockdown here in england it would appear that all of the restrictions will come to

an end on the 21st of june so it would appear that we might be coming out of lockdown on

the 21st of june but we will see what happens a lot of people getting very excited

hello joe mr duncan you were serious you were serious we are going to spot white vans during

the whole class

yes i'm trying to arrest my voice you see so it just means that i can soothe and rest

and relax my voice whilst talking to you i hope you don't mind

all of the traffic has disappeared where's the traffic gone come back traffic don't disappear

very interesting

of the things that i am always aware of oh there is a big truck

did you see the big truck or lorry

one of the things with doing this is quite often well you can wear your voice out especially

during this month because i've been with you every day

someone maybe something important perhaps an urgent delivery

america that is a good idea the only problem is

the time

that is the problem so because of the time difference here and also in other parts of

the world it can get quite late here that's all i'm saying for now oh that was interesting

i don't know what vehicle that was it looked very strange i think it was carrying maybe

oil or something that was a very unusual vehicle i don't know what that was but it looked very

strange there is another white van going by hello white fan we have seen you

now is anyone keeping account is anyone actually writing down the numbers of the vans that

we've seen today now i think we've seen around 20 20 white vans today so far which is pretty

good

oh i see a person who is a picker if someone picks it means they are taking things for

delivery so maybe if you work in a warehouse and you have to pick things you are taking

things from the warehouse and you are preparing them to be delivered so that is what a picker

normally does you can also pick fruit as well you can pick fruit that means you collect

the fruit normally in a container maybe a basket and then you take it somewhere else

to be processed so quite often a picker when we say a person is a picker they are collecting

things or they are taking something from one place and maybe giving it to someone else

rock water says i can't see very clearly because it's very cloudy

yes i suppose i haven't picked the best day to do this if i was really honest with you

i don't think i've picked the best day to actually play spot the white van

because it is a little bit misty quite misty outside we will do that again in a moment

don't worry i know you are very excited because you want to see all of those white vans i

i don't want to miss the blue bus because we might see one of the blue buses one of

the shropshire buses yes there are some people who become very crazy and very interested

in vehicles maybe buses especially buses people like to visit museums and look at buses old

buses the early types of bus tomek am i awkward well maybe a little bit

we should acknowledge and appreciate everyone who contributes to our societies and does

something important from a cleaning person to a scientist white van drivers are not exceptional

well i agree with you i'm not actually disputing any of that i'm not saying that white van

drivers are the only people we should be applauding but they are working extra hard during this

time just like the doctors and the nurses and even the cleaners who clean the hospitals

so yes i i have talked about this before on my live streams in fact i've talked about

this before all of the people who are well we often say unsung heroes an so if a person

is unsung it means they go through their life without being recognized for what they do

and maybe they do something that is very useful but to other people it might not seem important

however it is so everyone has something to contribute all the time so i'm definitely

not debating that because well because i'm not

that you wouldn't prefer to see a road instead of my face like this

yes of course this is live sometimes people say mr duncan we don't think this is live

we think this is recorded no it's not it's live right now this is the road right now

and and the exciting thing is i don't know what's coming next it could be anything last

week i saw sadly not on the live stream but i did see there was a house

on the back of a lorry so there was a huge lorry carrying a house on the back of it so

you can see some very unusual things on the roads another white van

another white van spotted

now you might think this is not very interesting but i will tell you now i think maybe next

year all of the youtube celebrities and all of the stars on youtube will will have their

own cameras and they will be counting the traffic as it goes by you watch you watch

you never know you never know what trend is going to come along on the internet and quite

often it does happen

far away we might see it again in a moment so that road in the distance actually joins

the main road in the middle so we might see that vehicle again oh my goodness did you

the same time i think that's that's amazing i i i might need to i might need to lie down

on the floor that was too exciting for me

vitesse says an accident is unlikely yes i think so i think so i don't think we will

see any accidents i don't think there is anyone who is going to lose control of their car

and suddenly go through the hedge well i hope not anyway i hope not that would be terrible

i don't want that to happen i don't want that to happen i sound like the manager of superstore

has anyone seen superstore it's a very funny tv show and it everything that happens takes

place in a large well it's a supermarket has anyone seen that it is a comedy show called

superstore and the manager the manager has a very high pitched voice like this

says when i was a child i used to sit on the stairs and spot all the traffic yes i think

it's interesting i think it's interesting watching and seeing all the different types

of vehicles on the road and i think at the moment it's even more interesting because

lots of people are now staying at home because we are in lockdown so most of the vehicles

that you will see on the road most of the traffic will be either vans lorries trucks

maybe the occasional ambulance oh dear and maybe sometimes perhaps a bus driving by most

likely empty i think the bus will be empty if i was honest with you

what i think has happened i've just worn my voice out i think because i've been talking

for the last for the last 24 days i've been talking every day on the live stream so i

do think that i need to rest my voice a little bit and that is what i'm doing after this

live stream has finished after the live stream has finished i am going to take a well-deserved

lie down on the floor

ladies and gentlemen welcome we are now broadcasting live from england and we are watching the

traffic on the road and there is another white fan driving by i hope you are enjoying these

thrilling scenes

you see i i'm almost aware of how bad this seems what's that in the distance now that

is a very strange vehicle i'm not sure what that is but it looks like it had a crane on

the back we might see that again in a moment so i'm hoping that that vehicle will actually

come onto the road the main road so let's let's wait and see maybe that vehicle is coming

too much wenlock

and maybe it isn't

so yes i just saw a very interesting vehicle i don't know what it was but it looked like

it had a large crane on the back

oh come on please come my way please come this way another white van in the distance

i wonder how many white vans are driving on the road at the moment in the uk i think it's

a lot i think there are many white vans and lots of birds as well flying by oh it doesn't

look like that vehicle is going to come by i was hoping to have a close look i wanted

to see it but i can't

belarusia oh that's a big one that's a big truck did you see the the big blue truck go

by it was one of these

and also i just saw it looked like a camper van going by as well did you see that? a camper

van a van that people use to drive around in and they can also live inside it as well

very popular in the USA campervans

are there any more cows behind your house yet no there are not unfortunately can i just

say that there are no animals yet at the back of the house i'm not sure if we will get any

this year i really don't know if we are going to get any animals this year so i can't say

yes or no but i'm hoping maybe over the next couple of weeks we might get some animals

at the back of the house and that will be amazing and of course as soon as they arrive

i will show them to you as well last year we had some baby cows some little cows last

year and i did do some filming as well

vitas says mr duncan you should work as a traffic policeman i think that's a good idea

yes if this is all you have to do if you are a traffic policeman is this all you have to

do is just sit in front of a monitor watching the traffic yeah i can do this i think i would

be very good at this meanwhile on the road not much is happening i feel like david attenborough

here in the wilds of england we are waiting patiently to spot the greater white van

a shy creature and there yes just briefly and once again another in the opposite direction

the white friends can be seen but sometimes only briefly because they do move quite fast

i'm not going just yet don't worry mr duncan you sound like david attenborough thank you

very much thank you very much the earth is in trouble stop wasting water stop it just

stop it please please stop it please turn off your taps

well i must say the traffic has gone very quiet now i have a feeling that david attenborough

might be blocking the road in protest

i do not like carbon emitting vehicles i am not a fan of them actually

and now on the road all is quiet

as we wait for the next white fan to come by

gg kane you could be on the radio many years ago i was on the radio i used to present a

radio show

edit says my daughter used to live in london 10 years ago and i visited her very often

now she lives in sydney and now i miss her and london also my favorite game

i like to get on the red 24 bus on youtube oh i see i'm not sure

what that actually is is it a youtube channel because i know nowadays a lot of people have

youtube channels where they show vehicles maybe they are driving a car or a train so

yes i think it sometimes

happens by the way i've just thought of something

something has just popped into my head

does anyone still use periscope periscope it's it's a social network where you can turn

on your webcam and you can talk to people you can chat you can talk about a certain

subject or you can show something

but periscope is going it's actually being scrapped it is closing down at the end of

march so periscope which has been around i think it's been around for the past maybe

six or seven years periscope but it will be closing down at the end of march so have you

ever used periscope i did for a short time but then i realized that there were some very

strange people on there and maybe that is the reason why it is closing down i remember

your live stream that you did in paris mr duncan you stood for three hours in the in

the street

yes i was standing on a street corner in the middle of a very busy paris doing a live stream

and i was there for i think it was three and a half hours i stood there

beatrice also remembers my live stream that i did from paris yes it was weird it was a

very strange moment of time i was standing on a street corner and actually you can still

watch that live stream on my youtube channel it is still there and it's available if you

can stand listening to me talking for three and a half hours in the middle of paris but

it was a very interesting moment of time

and now we return to the road where we once more wait patiently for the arrival of the

white fan

actually what time is it it is just gone three o'clock here in the uk so i think at this

time of the day normally the the roads become a little quiet so we might not be seeing many

white vans for the next few minutes we might not be seeing any vehicles for the next few

minutes

there are some cars going by but not many vans it has gone very quiet with the vans

where are they we are looking out for the vans we are spotting the vans

so we have seen lots of these today we have seen some of these today but we haven't seen

any of these sadly i was hoping that we would see one of the buses that travels between

much wenlock and shrewsbury but sadly today we haven't seen them one of the things with

living in the countryside of course is public transport is not very frequent so sometimes

if you are waiting for a bus you might have to wait for two hours for a bus to arrive

so if you do live in the countryside you will find that if you don't have a car it can be

very difficult getting around

there is some traffic but also you have my happy face as well hi everybody hello there

nice to see you here i'm with you for another five minutes and then i'm going but i'm going

to rest my voice because i think because i've been using my voice every day for 24 days

without having a rest oh there's a man walking his dog oh did you see that i just saw a man

walking his dog at the bottom of the screen very quickly there's a man walking his dog

but now he's gone

i promise tomorrow things will be back to normal hopefully i'm going to try and clear

my voice so it will feel better

oh that's interesting sandra says thank for your company and i will be teaching a little

more english together but i will be missing the next week oh i see do you mean you will

be missing my live streams next week yes because they end on sunday so next sunday will be

the last day of february and also the last day of my live streams for this month yes

it will it will all be coming to an end it's so sad

yes i will be having a hot drink after finishing this lesson or whatever this is

i have been drinking a lot of water today to keep my throat fresh

time we can say that you were talking in your sleep you were talking in your sleep i leave
