What if I told you there was a hidden secret that your English teachers never

told you about a secret that would help you finally speak English fluently?

What if I told you about the fluency panion?

This right here is the framework.

You need to finally speak English fluently, and I am

going to break it down for you.

Are you ready?

Well then I'm teacher Tiffany.

Let's jump right in.

Now, the Fluency Companion is a framework that is broken down into three levels.

These levels will help you finally speak English fluently.

Let's start with level one.

Level one is all about giving three details about the topic.

At this foundational level, the focus is on providing basic,

factual information about a subject.

This is something that you as an English learner must master in order

to use this framework properly.

You have to start with level one.

So why is this so important?

Level one, giving details about the topic first, it's so important because.

It helps you develop clear and concise communication skills.

In order for you to speak English fluently, you have to speak

clearly and in a concise manner.

This level, level one also is important because it builds essential

vocabulary related to specific topics.

Have you ever been in a situation and felt like, ah, I just can't think of a word.

Level one will help you and you won't experience this anymore.

And finally, the third reason why this level is so important

is it creates a strong foundation for more complex discussions.

So we have level one giving three details about a topic.

What does this actually look like?

Here we go.

Let's imagine someone asks you this question.

What is your favorite hobby?

And your simple answer might be, my favorite hobby is playing the guitar.

Well, remember we are talking about level one of the framework, the

fluency, panion framework, and level one is all about giving three details.

So let's expand our answer.

Again, my favorite hobby is playing guitar detail number one.

Practice guitar for two hours daily detail number two, own three different

acoustic guitars and detail Number three, learned through online tutorials.

You see I gave three details that connect to my response.

Remember, we're looking at level one of our fluency panion level,

one of the fluency panion framework.

So what will our response look like now that we have three details?

Here's the combined response.

My favorite hobby is playing guitar.

I practice for two hours daily on three different acoustic guitars

and learn through online tutorials.

What happened?

I gave you three details and all of a sudden my simple response.

Turned into a much better response.

Remember, we're speaking about the fluency panion, and we're looking

at level one giving three details.

So that response was really good, but does it really apply to every situation?

Let's check out this next situation.

Question.

What type of movies do you enjoy?

Simple answer.

I'm a big fan of science fiction films.

Now that's a good answer, but it's also a basic or beginner level answer.

So again, looking at level one, how can we add three details?

Here we go.

Detail number one, watch science films or science fiction films.

Weekly detail number two.

Have a collection of 50 plus movies and detail number three,

prefer movies with special effects.

Again, what are we doing at level one of our framework, the fluency?

Panion, we are giving three details related to the question and or

topic that is being discussed.

So what will our combined response now look like with these

additional pieces of information?

Here's the combined response.

I'm a big fan of science fiction films.

I watch them weekly, and I have built a collection of over 50 movies.

I particularly enjoy movies with special effects.

What happened?

I added three details and all of a sudden my simple response

became a much better response.

Keep in mind though, we are still at level one.

Oh, I can't wait until we get to level three.

We're giving three details based on level one of our framework.

But does it really work for every situation?

Here's another example again, using level one.

Here's the question.

What's your ideal vacation?

Simple response.

My ideal vacation would be a beach destination in Thailand.

Great response, but also a basic and beginner level response.

But we want to add three details based on our framework detail.

Number one, beach destination in Thailand.

Detail number two, two week, duration and detail.

Number three, a budget of $3,000.

Again, details are just pieces of information connected to the

topic or connected to the question.

We added three details, so now we have the information.

What does our combined response now?

Look like.

Here's the combined response.

My ideal vacation would be a beach destination in Thailand.

I'd like to stay for two weeks, and I've set aside a budget of $3,000 for the trip.

Now that's a good response.

Again, following the framework, level one, we have three details.

All right?

Three details.

We understand now the importance of level one, but now we need to

move on to level two, level two of our framework, the fluency panion.

Now we're going to understand the importance of personal

opinions and reasons, so let's dive into our second level.

Personal opinion and three reasons.

This intermediate level encourages you to focus on form and express personal

viewpoints with supporting arguments.

This is where things start to get really interesting.

Level one, the basic level of our framework is all about giving facts.

Now level two of our framework is all about giving your opinion, your thoughts,

your ideas, and supporting your opinion.

So let's see why this is so important.

Here's the first reason why this is important.

It develops critical thinking and analytical skills.

You as an English learner, your goal is to speak English fluently and

you're searching for ways to do this.

When you follow this framework, you'll be able to develop your

critical thinking skills, which will lead to English fluency.

The second reason why this second level, the intermediate level of

our framework is so important is.

It enhances your ability to construct logical arguments.

This is good.

Why learn how to support your opinion?

And number three.

It will improve your confidence in expressing your personal views in English.

Confidence is key.

So level two of our framework, the Fluency Penon framework, is all about

you giving your personal opinion and supporting it with three reasons.

So what does this look like?

Imagine someone asked you the exact same question.

What's your favorite hobby, and you gave this response, your opinion?

I believe playing guitar is the most rewarding hobby.

Then you stop.

Your opinion is, I believe playing guitar is the most rewarding

hobby, but you have to support it.

Now we have to give three reasons.

Reason number one, it helps reduce stress and anxiety.

Reason number two, it allows for creative self-expression.

And reason number three, it creates opportunities to connect with others.

All of a sudden, we are going deeper.

All of a sudden we're getting more information to support.

Our opinion, this is leading us to a more fluent English response.

So what would the combined response look like with our opinion?

And three reasons.

Here's the combined response.

I believe playing guitar is the most rewarding hobby

because it helps reduce stress.

And anxiety allows for creative self-expression and creates

opportunities to connect with others.

Listen, if you are preparing for an exam, maybe the IEL exam or toefl,

any English exam, you're going to have to be able to respond by supporting

your re with reasons, supporting your ideas, supporting your thoughts.

This framework, again, helps you.

So we saw the combined response had three reasons and the opinion, can it really be

applied to any topic in these situation?

What about this question we had earlier?

What type of movies do you enjoy?

Simple Response.

I strongly believe that science fiction films are the most

thought provoking movies.

That's a strong opinion.

It's your opinion, but that's a strong opinion.

Now you have to support it with what?

Three reasons.

Again, remember, what are we doing?

We're using the framework, the fluency opinion framework, and we're on

level two, the intermediate level, personal opinion, and three reasons.

So we've supported our opinion with these three reasons.

Reason number one, they explore potential future scenarios.

Reason number two, they challenge our understanding of reality.

And reason number three, they often address current social issues.

So I've stated my personal opinion and I've also given three

reasons to support my opinion.

Makes sense, right?

So now what would the combined response now look like?

Here's the combined response.

I strongly believe that science fiction films are the most thought

provoking movies because they explore potential future scenarios, challenge

our understanding of reality, and often address current social issues.

Listen to me, I want you to understand how powerful this framework is.

The fluency panion framework, if a student.

In my class were to give this response.

The response I just showed you.

They would get an A. They would get an A. Why?

Because they've told me their opinion and they've supported it.

Ooh, wait till we get to level three.

This is a great response, but again, can you really apply it

to any topic and any question?

Let's go to the third example.

The question again, what's your ideal vacation?

Simple response.

I'm convinced that beach destinations in Thailand offer

the best vacation experience.

That's your opinion.

Honestly, I like Thailand.

It's true.

I've never been there before, but they're food.

Come on, gimme some Thai food any day.

Very true.

So this person is saying, Hey, in my opinion, beach destinations

in Thailand offer the best vacation reason to number one.

The local culture is incredibly welcoming.

Reason number two, the cuisine offers unique flavors.

And reason number three, the natural scenery is breathtaking.

You are recognizing what's happening, right?

We're on level two of our framework.

A personal opinion was given and three reasons to support

that opinion were also given.

So now how do we turn this into a combined response?

Check out this combined response.

I'm convinced that beach destinations in Thailand offer the best vacation

experience because the local culture is incredibly welcoming.

The cuisine offers unique flavors, and the natural scenery is breathtaking.

You are going to get an A. If you give this response in my class,

you are going to get an A. Why?

Because you follow the second level of the framework.

Level two, the intermediate level, personal opinion, and three reasons.

Now we have to get to level three.

Level three, they're building on each other.

Level.

One, you're giving three details.

Level two, you're giving your personal opinion and three reasons.

Level three, the third level of our framework, the fluency panion framework

is where things really start to get.

Good.

So level three of our framework is all about personal experiences.

And the five Ws.

So the advanced level focuses on detailed storytelling using the who,

what, when, where, and why framework.

Now, if you've been with me for any amount of time, you have heard me speak

about the five Ws and how powerful they are, who, what, when, where, and why.

And the third level of our now fluency PAN framework utilizes the five W's method.

So why is this level so important?

Before we get into the examples?

The first reason this level is important.

It strengthens your narrative skills and your use of descriptive language.

My friend, I believe in you.

I believe that you have the ability to speak English fluently.

You just have to believe in yourself, and you also have to properly apply

this framework, giving you the ability to use descriptive language.

Reason number two, it develops your ability to share experiences

in a structured way following a structure, so the person listening

to you can follow along as you speak.

And reason number three.

It enhances memory recall and organization of thoughts in English.

This is so important on your journey to speaking English fluently.

You have to be able to remember things and also organize your thoughts in English.

So what does this look like?

Example number one question.

What's your favorite hobby?

Answer, let me tell you about my experience with playing guitar.

You see how I'm naturally leading into my personal experience, but I need the

five Ws, who, what, when, where, and why.

Who?

My guitar teacher, Sarah, and I, what had my first public performance

at a local coffee shop when last summer, on a busy Saturday evening.

Where the acoustic corner, a popular venue downtown and why to overcome

stage fright and share my progress.

So we have listed each piece of information to answer one of the Ws.

Each of the WS has a piece of information attached to it.

Remember, we are looking at level three of our framework,

the fluency PANION framework.

So how can we turn this into a combined response?

So here's the response.

Last summer, my guitar teacher Sarah, encouraged me to perform at the Acoustic

Corner, a popular coffee shop downtown.

On a busy Saturday evening, I played three songs for the audience, though nervous.

This experience helped me overcome my stage fright and showed me how

far I'd come in my musical journey.

Did you see the story play out?

Who, what, when, where, and why?

When did it happen?

Who was there when this.

Is all you need.

This framework will help you get to the level where you can tell a story

and include each of the five Ws.

Okay?

What about this situation?

What type of movies do you enjoy?

Initial response, let me share a memorable experience with science fiction movie.

So I'm leading right into the story.

Right, but we need who, what, when, where, and why.

So who?

My friends from the sci-fi club and I what attended a midnight

premiere of a major sci-fi film When?

During the winter break last year.

Where?

At the IMAX theater Downtown.

And why to experience the film with fellow enthusiasts.

Alright, so we have a lot of information organized, but it was

easy to organize it because once again, we follow the framework.

And the framework for level three is.

Personal experience and then who, what, when, where, and why

we've organized the information.

During last year's winter break, my sci-fi Club friends and I attended a midnight

premier at the downtown IMAX Theater.

It was a major sci-fi film and we wanted to experience the

film with fellow enthusiasts.

This experience perfectly captures why I love being part of the sci-fi community.

What happened, each of the five Ws, who, what, when, where, and

why can be found in that response given your personal experience.

But what about the third question?

What's your ideal vacation initial response?

Let me tell you about a memorable trip to Thailand.

Simple response, but now we have to add in who, what, when, where, and why.

Here we go.

Each of the five Ws has been added.

We're speaking about a personal experience, but what would the

combined response actually look like?

We spent our days exploring hidden beaches and browsing local markets.

Our goal was to experience authentic Thai culture while also taking time to relax.

That was an advanced English response.

Why?

Because we used the framework, the fluency panion framework.

Giving your personal experience, including who, what, when, where, and why.

We went over each of the levels using this fluency panion.
