keep making when using superlatives  and comparatives in English.

And it drives me crazy!

So I want you to fix them if you keep making them.

그러니까 계속 만들면 고쳐줬으면 좋겠어요.

Okay.

So let's and take a few examples.

그럼 몇 가지 예를 들어보겠습니다.

For example, “I am more taller than my sister.”

예를 들어, “나는 내 동생보다 키가 더 큽니다.”

This is absolutely incorrect.

이것은 완전히 잘못된 것입니다.

I hope you know this.

나는 당신이 이것을 알기를 바랍니다.

The comparative form of ‘tall’ is ‘taller’.

'tall'의 비교급은 'tall'입니다.

You don't need more.

더 이상 필요하지 않습니다.

Okay. ‘more’ is a double comparison.

좋아요. 'more'는 이중 비교입니다.

It's grammatically incorrect.

문법적으로 올바르지 않습니다.

So you just say, “I am taller than my sister.”

그래서 당신은 “나는 내 동생보다 키가 더 크다”라고 말합니다.

Second example.

두 번째 예.

“His house is the beautifulest in town.”

“그 사람 집은 마을에서 가장 아름다워요.”

Wrong!

잘못된!

You have to say, “This house is the most beautiful in town.”

“이 집은 마을에서 가장 아름답습니다.”라고 말해야 합니다.

As you know, when it's a long word, the  superlative is ‘most’ plus the adjective.

아시다시피, 긴 단어의 경우 최상급은 'most'에 형용사를 더한 것입니다.

And then we have, “His older  son is badder at math than her.”

그리고 우리는 “그의 큰 아들이 그녀보다 수학을 더 못해요.”라고 말합니다.

This is also incorrect because as you know,

아시다시피

‘bad’, is an exception.

'나쁨'은 예외이기 때문에 이것도 잘못된 것입니다.

The comparative form of ‘bad’ is ‘worse’.

'나쁘다'의 비교급은 '더 나쁘다'입니다.

So you should say, “His older son is worse at math than her.”

그러니 “그 사람의 큰 아들이 그 사람보다 수학을 더 못해요.”라고 말해야 합니다.

“I'm tireder than yesterday.”

“어제보다 피곤해요.”

Again this is incorrect.

이번에도 잘못된 내용입니다.

Because the comparison for ‘tired’ is “I'm more tired than yesterday.”

왜냐면 '피곤하다'에 대한 비유는 '어제보다 더 피곤해요'이기 때문이죠.

With two syllable adjectives, it's a little bit tricky.

2음절 형용사를 사용하면 조금 까다롭습니다.

Most of the time when they end in ‘y’, you just add ‘er’.

대부분 'y'로 끝나면 'er'만 추가하면 됩니다.

When they don't, you use ‘more’.

그렇지 않은 경우에는 'more'를 사용합니다.

So in this case, we say, “I'm more tired than yesterday.”

그래서 이 경우에는 “어제보다 더 피곤해요.”라고 말합니다.

And finally, “This is my most happiest day.”

그리고 마지막으로 “오늘이 가장 행복한 날이에요.”라고 말했습니다.

Again, double superlative.

다시 말하지만, 이중 최상급입니다.

This is incorrect.

이것은 잘못된 것입니다.

You can just say, “This is my happiest day.”

그냥 “오늘이 가장 행복한 날이에요”라고 말할 수 있습니다.

Okay.
