Useful words and expressions for playing online games in English

Hi everyone, I'm George.

With lots of countries still in lockdown, more people are

playing video games online to connect with friends.

So today we're going to learn some useful words

and expressions to use when playing those games.

Before I continue, don't forget to like the video

and to subscribe to the channel.

The first word is gamer, which is someone who plays

a video game.

So, I'm a gamer, but not a pro gamer.

You probably play video games on a games console,

which could be a PlayStation, an Xbox, or a Nintendo Switch.

When playing a video game for the first time,

you probably want to learn what the buttons are.

So you might ask, how do you crouch?

And your friend might reply, press square.

How do you jump?

Press circle.

How do you sprint? Press R2.

If you're asking these questions you're probably a noob, which is

someone who is new to a game and doesn't play it very well.

I have no idea what I'm doing.

Unfortunately, when playing a computer game online the game

might lag, which means that there's a delay between the

user doing something and the game reacting to it.

Oh, there's so much lag.

If you're playing a game online and you're not doing very

well you might rage quit, which means you're so angry

that you suddenly quit the game.

You lose.

Stupid game.

If you're a noob but your team suddenly wins,

it might be because somebody on your team carried you.

This means that a player is much better than the rest of their

team and because of that they carry their team to victory.

You win.

That was easy.

One thing that a lot of gamers hate is someone that camps,

which means you hide in a corner for a really long time,

until someone appears, and you attack them.
