Do you remember I have a dog? Yeah? Do you remember anything about her?

You can ask me questions. That's my dog. If you want to know her name, what do you ask?

I don't remember. Then what's the question? What's her name? What's her name. Percy. Percy? Percy. Mm-hmm.

Um, you want to know her age. What's the question?

Um, how...

old? Yeah. For age. How old is she? How old is she? How old is she? She's three.

She's three. Yeah. You want to know her birthday. What's the question? What is her birthday? What's her birthday?

I'd say...or when. When is her birthday? When is her birthday? Um, November.

November. So right now she's three. In November, what will happen? She will be four.

She will be four. Yeah. How old is your cat? Four. When is his birthday?

In February.

February. So next year, he will be...? She will be... Oh, she!

Five. She will be five. She will be five. Uh-huh. She will be five.

So when we look to the future, we start saying "will." Because Percy is three.

Percy is a cute dog, I think. She's a black dog. She's three. She will be four. She will be four in November.

How old is your dog? Ten. Ten? No, nine! Nine. And when's your dog's birthday? Ah, in November.

As well. Yeah. So in November, how old will her dog be?

She will [be] ten.

She will be ten.

She will be ten. She will be ten.

She will. She'll.

She'll. She'll be ten.

So when you use "will" for the future, it's "will" plus a verb, like "will be."

And when we speak, we often use the short forms,

the contractions. So she will - she'll. I will - I'll. You will - you'll. You'll.

Right now I'm old, and next year I will be older. I'll be older.

You can say, "Yes, Jennifer, you'll be older." You'll be older. You'll. You will be older. You'll be older.

You'll be older. You'll be older. Try again. I will - I'll. You will - you'll.

You'll. She will - she'll. He will - he'll. We will - we'll.

We'll all be order next year. We'll all be here in Boston. We'll. It almost sounds like, um,

the wheels on a car. Wheels. Wheel. We'll. We'll be older. We'll all be older.

They will - they'll. They'll.

Our cats and dogs, right? They'll all be older.

They'll all have birthdays. They will. They'll. They'll. When you end with the L,

you feel the tongue going up and touching the teeth. They'll. They'll.

I'll, you'll, she'll, he'll, we'll, they'll.

Mm-hm. Yeah. Let's go back to our friends here. Remember our friends?

Okay. I'll give you a sentence about a person. I'll tell you what the person does every day.

So then you can tell me what will happen tomorrow. Right?

This is Kim. This is my friend Kim. She is a doctor, and she works in a hospital.

Tomorrow she'll be at the hospital. She's always at the hospital.

So tell me. Where will they be? So Kim is a doctor. She works at a hospital. She's at the hospital every day.

Tomorrow she'll be at the hospital.

She'll be. She'll be. She'll be at the hospital. She will be. She'll be. Okay?

Who is this? She's the teacher. She's a teacher. Where does she work?

She works at school. At school. She works at a school every day. Every day.

So tomorrow...so tomorrow she'll be at school. She'll be at school tomorrow, of course. It's a work day. She'll be at school.

Okay. Who are these people?

These are chefs. They're chefs. They work in a restaurant. They make beautiful dinners.

They make dinner every day, every evening. Um, where will they be next week? Or where will they be this weekend?

They''ll...they'll...are...

They'll be...they'll be [at] a restaurant. They'll be at the restaurant. At the restaurant. They'll be at the restaurant.

And what will they do? Cook? They'll be cook. No. They'll cook.They'll cook.

They'll make dinner. They'll cook.

They'll cook. They'll make dinner. Okay?

Who's that?

A businessman.

Yeah. He makes calls every morning. He makes a lot of calls. So what will he do tomorrow morning?

Um, he'll call.

He'll call or make calls. You can make...as a business person, you make a lot of calls.

He makes calls every morning. Tomorrow he'll make calls. He'll make calls...he'll make more calls.

He's always on the phone. Okay?

Who's that?

This is uh...

computer programmer. Yeah and she programs computers.

She writes programs. Write? She writes programs. What will she do next month?

She'll be...

a programmer?

Well, yes. She will continue to be a programmer, but let's focus on what she does.

She writes programs. Every month she writes programs.

What will she do next month? She'll program. She'll program something.

Yes. Or she'll write. She'll write. She'll write programs. She'll program a computer.

So WILL + (verb). Will write, will program, will fly, will be, will cook.

Okay. Who's that? A hairstylist. Yes. What does he do every day?

Cuts hair. He cuts hair.

He cuts hair. He styles hair. He talks to people. So what will he do this weekend?

He'll cut hair.

He'll cut hair. He'll cut hair. He'll style hair for people. Okay?

We use WILL plus the base verb for the future. Practice this grammar.

Look at the photos. Tell me. Who is the person and what will they do tomorrow?

That's Steve. He's a mechanic. He'll be at the garage tomorrow.

That's Tina. She's an artist. She'll be in her studio tomorrow.

That's Paula. She's a personal trainer. She'll be at the gym tomorrow.

Nice work. Now look at the photos and tell me what each person will do tomorrow.

Peter will finish his painting tomorrow.

Nancy will serve cake to her guests tomorrow.

Ben will watch his favorite TV show tomorrow.

My children will go to college in a few years.

in a few years. But 2029? They'll be done with college. 2029. What else will be different?

We'll have a different president in the U.S. and in Brazil. Uh-huh. Yeah.

Do you think you'll be in Boston in 2029?

I probably will be in Brazil.

I'll probably be in Brazil.

I'll probably be...probably like maybe. I'll probably be in Brazil.

Not "will"? I will probably?

I'll probably be. When you have two verbs like that, WILL and BE, you can put

"probably" in the middle. I will probably be. I will probably be. I'll probably be. I'll probably be in Brazil.

I don't know if I'll be in Boston. Maybe I will. Maybe I won't. Right?

So we talked about WILL. Of course, there's a negative.

Just like DO and DON'T. Right? IS and ISN'T. We can have WILL and WILL NOT.

And what happens in the short form? Won't. Maybe I won't be in Boston. Right?

Maybe I won't be in the U.S.

I don't know. Maybe I'll be somewhere else. WILL and WON'T.

Right? I won't, you won't, she won't, they won't...It's all the same. The negative. Won't. Okay?

We use WILL plus NOT for the negative. The short form or contraction is WON'T for all subjects.

Practice this grammar. Read the sentence and then change it to the negative.

She won't help.

I won't quit.

We won't be late.

You won't be sorry.

He won't come.

They won't say no.

Um, Boston will be different maybe.

What will be in Boston? What will be new?

So maybe we'll have new buildings. We'll probably have...We'll probably have more buildings...new buildings.

I think life will be different. Okay? All right.

So WILL. Think. I'm talking about Boston and the U.S. What do you think will be different in Brazil in the future?

2029. 2039.

Do you think things will be different? If you're not sure, you can say "maybe"..."probably."

I hope...I hope the Brazil will be better.

I hope Brazil will be better. I hope life in Brazil will be better. Mm-hm.

Make sentences. Change the verbs from the present to the future.

Computers will be smaller and faster.

Smartphones will be better.

More people will ride high-speed trains.

People won't use plastic.

Companies won't need many humans. They'll need more robots.
