different today I had planned to go outside  but unfortunately the rain is coming down very  

heavily the wind is blowing and it is freezing  cold outside so instead I've decided to stay in  

the nice warm comfy room that I'm staying in  at the moment so this is a live stream right  

now and if you noticed yesterday and maybe also  this morning I left a couple of cryptic messages  

cryptic if something is described as being cryptic  it means something is hidden maybe something that  

is hidden away in a puzzle something is crypted  cryptic so it has been encrypted it is something  

secret hidden and quite often there is a code  that you must crack you have to break open the  

code so here we are then and I suppose I should  tell you where I am because my videos that I  

posted I did post two videos and I asked you to  guess where I am well I'm now going to tell you  

where I am because we are live everyone hey man  hey come on just played cool man play cool hey

actually see you now one problem is that the  live chat is all coming up in a very strange  

way and I don't know why very weird I don't  know why the live chat is coming up but it  

is all squashed together so I can't actually  read what you are writing which is to say the  

least a little bit annoying if I was honest  with you that is rather rather annoying let's  

just see if I can make it better no I can't  oh that's good well done well done YouTube  

obviously obviously YouTube has made another  update and they've really messed it up because  

unfortunately I can see the live chats coming up  but I can't actually read them because they are  

all squashed very strange isn't that strange  wow there is always a problem with YouTube I  

have noticed whenever you try to do something  there always seems to be some sort of problem  

so the live chat is not working very well because  it is all squashed on the screen and I don't know  

why I can't even read the names well that's very  good YouTube well done well done YouTube you've  

managed to mess up feature on your otherwise  amazing streaming service oh that's just great  

isn't it that is just thank you YouTube let me  just see if I can correct that somehow oh come

on this probably looks very strange  what I'm doing now let's see if I can  

correct this see it this is going to be  a very short live stream that's all I can

say come on come on YouTube don't let me down well  that's that's just ridiculous isn't it absolutely  

abely ridiculous YouTube have obviously made some  sort of change and the change means that all of  

the writing from the live chat is all squashed  I'm just wondering if it's the same with you  

so if you can just type a very short message  not too long and I also can't see your names  

either well that's just crazy isn't that just the  stupidest thing you've ever seen I don't often I'm  

not often critical of YouTube but sometimes  it really does make me rather annoyed let's  

just turn it around let's just see if this makes  any difference does this change anything no it

doesn't

H how weird well I'm not sure if you're having  the same problem as I am but at the moment I  

can't read anything that is on the screen so all  of your live chats unfortunately are not coming  

through and I do apologize for that it is not  my fault that's all I'm going to say it is not  

my fault this is definitely YouTube's problem it's  not not my problem it's YouTube once again they've  

made some changes and it would appear that it's  not working very well which when you think about  

it is is rather annoying anyway you can see  me hopefully and you can hear me hopefully if  

you can't hear me then I'm just talking to myself  basically so where am I I will tell you straight  

away where I am I am in a place that is famous  for its Big River in the it was very famous for  

its shipping it used to have a very large shipping  Port here and lots of goods were were received and  

sent all around the world and also historically  it has a historical importance when it comes to  

music as well this particular place is where  a lot of the British Rock Revolution began in  

the late 1950s and also early 1960s I'm sure by  now you have already guessed where this is I am

in Liverpool Liverpool is the place Liverpool  city the city of docklands pop music and at  

this time of year not many people walking  around taking photographs because it is  

out of season so at the moment in January  there aren't many tourists coming here I  

was walking around yesterday doing a little bit  of filming and also I took some photographs so  

there are some of those as well I think  everyone else can see the live chat all  

right but unfortunately I can't and that is  rather annoying to be honest and I don't know  

why so well done YouTube once again you've  managed to excel yourself by making the live

chat making the live chat virtually impossible  to use isn't that great so sadly I can't read  

your live chats at the moment they're all coming  out in a very strange way on the screen and I can  

only guess it has something to do with YouTube  in fact I'm pretty sure it will have something  

to do with YouTube it is a shame I can't just  press the actual chats and then see what they  

say but I I can't unfortunately I wish I could  but I can't oh I see tan Lee says I can listen  

and understand what you say but I can't speak  fluently well that's easy because speaking is  

the hardest part of learning any language I know  I say this quite a lot of times but it is a very  

important thing to remember learning English  is not just about without remembering words  

or learning words or reading things all of that  is just a way of getting everything to stay in  

your head what you really need to do after you  have learned a lot of the language you have to  

then get used to the idea or become confident in  speaking the language I know what you're saying  

I know what you're going to think Mr Duncan it's  very easy to say that but it's not very easy to

do listening for marir is the hardest part so  if I tap on your messages I can actually read  

them so if I tap on the message like that I  can actually read the message but I can't see  

them as they are moving on the screen back to  your question though know speaking English is  

the hardest part my advice is always the same if  you have difficulty speaking English if you have  

difficulty with your confidence then maybe  you can build your confidence by doing some  

small exercises maybe you can look at yourself  in the mirror look at yourself in the mirror  

when you are speaking and then you can become  more confident as you watch yourself so use  

English words another good thing especially  these days because everyone has some type of  

technology that they can use you can record your  speaking voice you can record the sound of your

voice I I will be pausing now and again as I look  

at your messages it's very hard  following the live chat today

because the live chat is not coming  on my screen very well or very

clearly so if you want to improve the way you  speak English just like anything you have to  

practice it if there is anything in your  life you want to improve in some way you  

always have to practice it listening writing  learning even learning is a skill so when we  

come to actually using the language when  you have to speak some people say that is  

the hardest thing to do the hardest thing  of all is to actually use the language it  

really is and I think it is true that that  can be the hardest thing in the world by the  

way I'm in Liverpool that is where I am I was  supposed to go outside but unfortunately it  

has been raining all day and it is freezing  cold it is so cold and windy we've had two  

tropical storms over the past few days we  have a lot of wind violent storms blowing

around

very interesting I've never actually seen this  before I've never seen this happen on the live  

chat where all of the writing becomes squashed  or compressed together and I can't actually  

read any of the live chats even though if  I click on it I can read it if I actually  

click directly on to the message I can read it  so I may I might be able to read some of your  

messages but not all of them oh a deliveroo  man just went by a lot of people these days  

have food delivered straight to their front  door isn't that amazing unfortunately where I  

live in much windlock I can't do it no none  of these delivery services will come to my  

house because they always say we are too far  away here in Liverpool if there's one thing  

I've noticed there are lots of people riding  around on bicycles delivering food all over the

much easier if you live in the country where  the language is spoken that is true but also  

it is not true if you live in a place where many  people are interested in a particular language  

so not necessarily their native language  but maybe another language and maybe it is  

a popular language so of course many people  these days are learning English as a second  

language and it has become very popular I have  to say ESL uh English as a second language so a  

lot of people nowadays are learning maybe two or  three different languages at the same time French  

is also a very popular language that many people  learn as a second language there are also people  

learning many European languages besides French  also German and many other languages Chinese has  

become a very popular language a second language  so in some schools in fact I think in many  

schools now here in the UK it is possible to learn  Chinese as a second language which I find rather

in a big city I have to say Liverpool is a very  strange place I have never been to Liverpool this  

is my first visit to Liverpool ever in my life  I have to say my first impressions are well I  

suppose it is a typical large city I would say  that any large town or city the average place  

that you might visit here in the UK I would  say that Liverpool pretty much to be honest  

is like many large towns or large cities in the  UK although there are some lovely buildings in  

fact the place I'm staying at at the moment  is right next to the most famous building in  

Liverpool which is the livea building which  is right next door very nice building I will  

be showing you some photographs and some videos  on Sunday next Sunday I will be with you back  

in Much Wenlock next Sunday with Mr Steve as well  so we will be taking a look at some of the videos  

that I was able to film yesterday before the  rain started again so it has rained a lot over  

the past couple of days we've had so much wind  and so much rain and I'm not talking about Mr  

Steve's stomach when I talk about the wind to  be honest you might see the traffic going by as  

well I'm surprised how quiet the road along  here is it's not actually very busy however  

during the rush hour when when everyone starts  going home from their job or traveling back  

home or they start commuting this road becomes  quite busy lots and lots of traffic jams lots  

of traffic waiting in cues to move on but you  can see at the moment it's not very busy but  

yes I don't mind the city I don't mind it at  all it's it's always a nice change sometimes  

having a different environment around you can  be quite nice I think it can be quite a nice  

thing to have a different environment to to  actually experience so I don't think it's too

bad have there been any changes or odd things  in the weather in the UK in 2023 or 2024 hello

CU my throat is very dry one of the things I  always notice about hotel rooms you can never  

get the temperature right it's either too cold  or too hot you can never get the temperature  

right in the room so in this room they have air  conditioning but when you put it on it makes the  

room really hot I don't know why even though there  is a control you can control the temperature but  

for some reason it makes no difference whatsoever  it's still hot it just blows hot air into the room

completely any strange weather conditions well  it this winter has been very strange because  

it's been very mild so normally at this time of  year it is freezing cold and quite often we will  

have very chilly weather very cold weather maybe  even snow but at the moment it isn't like that  

the wind is cold even though the temperature is  quite high so today the temperature is around 10  

Celsius however the wind is blowing straight in  from from the sea because of course Liverpool is  

very close to the Sea so we're not very far away  from it in fact this room at the back of the room  

there are lots of ports where big ships will come  in uh and there is a big Ferry just behind me that  

takes people to a place called The Isle of Man  have you ever heard of the Isle of Man it's very  

famous place very well known small island and  there is a ferry just behind here I feel very  

frustrated can I share something with you now  because because we we have known each other for  

a long time I do feel rather frustrated that I  can't go out and show you all of these lovely

things I think the rain is starting to ease off

oo well I wonder I wonder if I can go outside  the only problem is it's still very cold there  

is also a very strong wind and it's freezing  cold so even though the temperature is high  

because you were asking me about unusual weather  events even though it's very warm here it's very  

windy as well but it doesn't feel like winter I  will be honest with you I have to say it does not  

feel like winter I suppose it feels like I would  say late late winter early spring that's what it  

actually feels like here at the moment I'm trying  to get comfortable I can't get comfortable please  

can you make a video in London walking and talking  to people asking English learning questions yes  

that's very good that's that's a very good sahil  that's a very good question you have to be careful  

though doing that because not everyone wants to  talk to you if you walk around with one of these  

in your hand it doesn't necessarily mean that  people want to actually talk to you sometimes they  

can be very rude and violent so you do have to  be careful because I'm only doing this by myself  

quite often you will see people talking to others  in the street but quite often they have two or  

three other people with them helping them but I'm  on my own unfortunately talking of London I did do  

a video did you see my video that I made in London  walking around and visiting some of the well-known  

places but I was by myself and I always feel that  if I'm on my own I have to take care of myself

sometimes they might want to hit you yes that's  very true Valentine as I said on Sunday I think  

there are a lot of people who would love to  to punch me in the face I don't know why I  

have no idea I I have no clue why that is so  I don't know in Greece Greece is the same in  

Winter we had terrible summer very talked even  for Greece thank you for the answer thank you

think they've had very high temperatures I know  last year there was some terrible fires I think  

now now I'm actually talking about 2023 but also  I remember in 2022 there were lots of serious  

fire as well across parts of Greece Australia and  other places as well I think Canada as well had  

some very ferocious fires last year so there is  definitely something happening with the weather

thousands and thousands of English teachers  now on YouTube have you noticed they're all  

starting to squeeze me out like this this  is what I feel like by the way when I'm on  

YouTube sometimes everyone's on now teaching  English they all want to be English teachers

and and then one day I will  be gone you won't see me ever

again there's no chance of that happening  by the way no chance whatsoever but there  

are lots of English teachers on YouTube I  can't name them all and I certainly don't  

know most of them it is funny how people  assume that you must know all of the other  

people teaching English on YouTube but I don't  I don't know them it's true I know you don't  

believe me but it's true I don't know them I I  that there are only about about three people on  

YouTube I actually know personally from the  past there was a young lady called Jennifer  

Jennifer who remembers Jennifer Jennifer ESL  yes a very early English teacher just like me  

in fact I was the first and not many people  talk about this noways I'm I'm sure in two  

years time when I get my 20th anniversary on  YouTube I'm sure someone will say hey that Mr  

Duncan he was the first English English  teacher on YouTube teaching English the  

first one but most people have now forgotten  all about that am I bitter am I am I upset by

it it's not fair but of course life isn't fair as  I said a few moments ago so I hope that answers  

your question but yes there are lots of people  teaching English on YouTube I don't do daily  

live streams unfortunately sometimes I have to do  other things my personal life has been crazy over  

the past couple of years the last two years there  are things even you don't know out there that have  

been going on in my life and I've never told you  about them personal things things that I can't  

even mention here problems disasters things  I've had to deal with but somehow I managed  

to keep the smile on my face so you see being  on YouTube is not very glamorous it isn't it  

isn't it's hard work you have to keep working  at it you must never stop but yes I do try my

best what is your opinion on the  best English learning News Channel  

well that's an interesting one because news can be

rather subjective subjective so some news channel  chanels are very good for listening and maybe if  

you want to watch an English news channel I  suppose there are many I if I if I was honest  

with you I suppose it depends on your own personal  opinions about the world around you because most  

people will watch the news because they want to  hear things that they look for or want to hear I  

would say that that any news channel that has  captions so if you can find a news channel if  

you can actually find a very good news channel  that has captions then yes that would be good  

I think that would be a very good way of learning  most people think of the big American TV channels  

like CNN or Fox News of course we have the  BBC here in the UK and that can be watched  

all around the world as well so you can actually  watch BBC news all over the world thank you very

much yes there are many news channels to be honest  with you I like watching the news not because I  

want to hear bad news but sometimes it is very  interesting to see other points of view so I do  

watch a lot of other news channels besides BBC  I also watch well I used to watch Russia today  

but now now Russia today has been banned in this  country so I can't watch it anymore even though  

sometimes I can watch it I do watch it on the  internet and also what's the other one Al jazer  

is another news channel I watch sometimes because  they have some very interesting documentaries a  

different view of the world so I think it's a  good idea sometimes not to get your news from  

one place sometimes it's a good idea to look at  very or or many news channels and then you can  

work out your own opinion much much better rather  than being told what to think all the time that's  

my personal opinion anyway I don't know what  you think maybe you disagree maybe you think Mr

Duncan Mr Duncan where is your new microphone  hello vas I am using my new microphone right  

now so this is actually Mr Steve's microphone  that he bought for me so so it is inside this  

windshield so this here is just on the  outside you see and then inside inside

so we haven't used it much at the moment  because we haven't had any chance due to

out what is real and what is not one of the  things I can guarantee right now is this is  

real I am really here in Liverpool and that  is really a terrible day outside the rain  

has stopped isn't that interesting I can't  believe it the rain has actually stopped I  

know it's very tempting I am thinking of going  outside but I think it would be a big mistake  

first of all I will have to set all of my  equipment up again I also have to make sure  

I can get a signal as well so as much as  I would love to go out there now sadly I  

don't think it's a good idea because I would  have to move everything and I might lose the

that's one of the reasons why I always like to  watch news services or read information from  

other places or other countries I always find it  interesting to to hear a different point of view  

or a different way of looking at the world so I  don't always judge things harshly sometimes I do

I think it is a good idea to get your news or  your information from different places not just  

one I think that's always been the type of thing  I enjoy doing I do like getting information from  

different places even something connected to to  YouTube or something technical sometimes I like

was raining it's incredibly windy out there you  can't tell how windy it is because there are no  

trees around if you notice there are actually no  trees anywhere here so you can't see the trees  

blowing in the wind but I can tell you now I can  tell you there are trees blowing around and also  

a lot of the wind is coming from the sea so  in front of me if I was looking that way now  

I would be facing out towards the Mery the river  Mery is over there and a lot of the strong winds  

are coming in from from the sea so that's another  reason why why I probably won't go outside I know  

what you're going to say Mr Duncan you are such  a coward what a coward Mr Duncan are you yellow  

are you chicken are you afraid to go outside in  Liverpool I would love to go out what I wanted to

do Liverpool that is where I am so this is  Liverpool all of this it is only a very small  

part of Liverpool there are many other places  I was going to do a live stream from from the  

area that is famous for the place where  the Beatles used to perform way back in  

the early 1960s before they became big and  famous around the world so I would like to  

do that but unfortunately the weather has not  been very kind I was going to do it yesterday  

but the wind was was so strong my my poor phone  kept blowing away I wanted to put my phone on a  

tripod but it kept blowing over so I had to be  very careful what I was doing I don't want to  

damage my equipment you see I don't want to damage  my equipment there are some bushes yes not many  

though there are some bushes down there if you  look carefully you can see there are some Bush  

bushes but they're very small they're they're  still starting starting to grow so maybe in  

10 or 15 years maybe those bushes will grow up  and they will look lovely and green but at the

moment there is nothing nothing  at all for those wondering yeah

wasn't that strange the moment I did an  impression of a Liverpool accent YouTube  

cut me off I wonder why wasn't that strange did  you see what happened then isn't that weird I'm

honestly sometimes YouTube can be very annoying  it can be incredibly frustrating especially when  

things are not working so am I back I don't know  why YouTube just cut me off very briefly I was cut

off can you see there are lots of people riding  around on these scooters as well so there you see  

that young guy there was riding by so you might  see a lot of people riding past on their little  

motorized scooters which are very popular now oh  look the policeman is back there he's back he's  

still trying to find me there he is he's come  back around look can you see there is a police  

car I think that policeman is trying to find me I  think that's what's happening they're looking for

me all they need to do is go on to YouTube  and they can watch this you see they'll  

know exactly where I am they won't have to  drive around looking for me in the rain Yes  

Matthew Street I believe Matthew street is  the famous place where the cavern Club and  

uh many other bars and restaurants they've  all been created to celebrate the legacy  

of the Fab Four John Paul Ringo and John  John John Paul Ringo who's the other one  

John Paul Ringo and George and of course  Pete don't forget Pete Pete best he was  

the origin drummer with the Beatles but then  he was sacked oh that's interesting yes it

is yes that's right yes Matthew street is famous  for the cavern Club there is something I can  

tell you though about the cavern Club the place  that's open now is not the original one oh it's  

a different entrance it's not the same place  in fact you have to go further up the street  

to find the actual place where the Beatles used  to come in and out of yeah it's true it's true  

Steve went to The Beatles Museum yesterday and  he said it wasn't very good that's Mr Steve's  

personal opinion although he did buy me a pair  of Rose tinted glasses would you like to see

life is so difficult when you get old  it really is take my advice never get

old I would like to visit the world  Museum and also the city library yes  

there are some very lovely buildings here  in Liverpool I have to say there are some  

lovely old buildings we have the livea  building which is right next door very  

famous building huge Stone building I think  originally it used to house the the local  

Authority or the local Council I'm not  sure what it's used for these days but  

it's a beautiful building quite magnificent and  of course it has the iconic Birds on the top so  

there are two large birds on either side  of the building hence the liver birds or  

the liver building and of course that is the  reason why we call it Liverpool as well the

pool denotes all of the water around it  it's very difficult it's very difficult  

reading the live chat today because there  is a problem with it I don't know why your  

glasses look very interesting they match  the rest of your your clothing oh yes it's

again is it so warm it is warm here I did mention  earlier that we we are having a lot of fantastic  

warm weather the only problem is we're also  having lots of wind and rain so it would be

so it's very hard to enjoy the warm weather  even though it is quite unseasonal to say the  

least there is a lot of cold around because the  wind is blowing and it's very cold because it's

miss the countryside that part of the city  is only concrete it is there there are lots

there are lots of nice old buildings here  as well in Liverpool so not everything is  

is modern and not everything is concrete  there are some nice places to visit as

read Comics as a kid I was crazy about Comics  lots of Comics comic strips now these days when  

you talk about Comics most people will think  of superheroes like Superman Batman Spiderman

Aquaman Wonder Woman you see there is  a woman there there is Wonder Woman

yes she she could get attacked  by 20 men and beat them all

off but I did I did used to what I did used to  read Comics cartoon Comics so Comics that were  

designed for little children or young children  funny comics so not necessarily not necessarily  

superheroes so not Batman or or the other Marvel  Comics such as the Fantastic Four I used to read  

that one that the Fantastic Four was always an  interesting comic with the superheroes because  

you got lots of them you see there was that guy  that was made of fire he would he would light  

like a flame and then there was the other  guy that was green I can't remember what he

did maybe he was the Jolly Green

Giant is that supposed to be funny is that  is that supposed to be funny do you want  

to come outside shall we go outside and  have a little fight settle it Liverpool

style oh the other guy the the one I used  to love was the guy made of rocks he was  

amazing I don't know why I I always  liked him he was he was made of rocks  

the Fantastic Four and there was another  guy as well I can't remember what he did  

it wasn't Aquaman was it nobody cares  about Aquaman can everyone please stop  

making Aquaman movies because no one cares  about Aquaman he is he is quite lame as they

say so I do read comics and I used to read them a  

lot are there any traditional dishes  in Liverpool I think most of them are

broken I am living so dangerously I'm  here I'm in Liverpool at the moment  

and I'm saying all these things what's  what's wrong with me I think I've been  

locked in this room for too long that's the  problem I've been locked in here so long I'm

there must be lots and lots of really interesting  things that you can do in your life rather than  

watch me stand in front of a mirror it feels  like I'm looking in a mirror you see because I  

can see my face the reflection and then behind  the mirror there is the outside world look at

that that was a big lorry did you see that  big lorry have you noticed how many different  

colors of car there are look there's a  red one there's a red one there's a white  

one there's a blue one a nice blue car that's  nice I like that one Mr Steve likes blue cars  

there's a red one a red car lots of white  cars Mr Steve doesn't like white cars he  

says they are boring another white oh white van  did you see the white van then that was a white

van the problem is nowadays  there are so many white vans  

on the road they're everywhere lots of black

cars I'm looking for a yellow car because  the yellow car is very rare you don't see  

many yellow cars on the road so we are going to  try and see if we can have a yellow car go by  

and as soon as we have a yellow car I will  end the live stream so that the yellow car  

will help us decide when the live stream finishes  come on yellow car where are you come on yellow

car you know what's going to happen now there are  

going to be no yellow cars no  you see I told you no yellow

cars I might be here for a  while looking for a yellow

car oh there's there's a there's I like  that Lorry look at that big lri look  

at that that is called an articulated  lorry and that one that one is without

any cargo and that one does have Caro so that type  of vehicle the police the police are here again  

there they are look the police they're trying to  get me an articulated lry is like this one here  

going by you see an articulated lry it means it is  able to move in lots of different ways quite often  

and artic ulated lry is long and it can move in in  very unusual ways they look they look a bit like  

a snake when a snake is moving around I always  think they articulated lri is very similar the way  

it moves around like a snake it can wind and move  around it is articulated I wish I was articulated  

it'd be so nice I would love to be articulate  in Liverpool some people might say that would  

be very easy to do but they would be very rude  people saying that have a good day in Liverpool I  

haven't seen any yellow cars yet we have to wait  now for a yellow car I have to keep my promise

what have I done there's an orange lorri does  that count an orange lorri look there's an  

orange lorri coming by maybe maybe that's  that's almost yellow isn't it orange is  

almost yellow it's coming by now come on  come on a bit more a bit more this way a  

bit more hairy there there you see see I  think that might be yellow it looks like  

orange but it it is yellow I'm I'm pretty  sure it's yellow which means I can go now
