Today, we're going to practice 10 common phrasal verbs with 'get'.

오늘은 'get'으로 자주 쓰이는 구동사 10개를 연습해 보겠습니다.

As I say at the start of every phrasal verb's lesson,

So, now let's get on with the lesson.

I'm going to give you 10 sentences with phrasal verbs with the verb 'get'.

동사 'get'과 함께 구동사가 포함된 10개의 문장을 알려드리겠습니다.

The preposition will be missing. So, I'd like you to supply the missing preposition.

전치사가 누락됩니다. 따라서 누락된 전치사를 제공하시기 바랍니다.

He ran and got ........ the bus before me.

그는 달려가서 ........ 버스를 탔습니다.

What is the missing preposition?

누락된 전치사는 무엇입니까?

He ran and got on the bus before me.

그는 나보다 먼저 달려가서 버스에 탔다.

To get on the bus or train or plane or tram is to enter. We use 'get on' for public transport.

버스, 기차, 비행기, 트램을 타는 것은 들어가는 것입니다. 우리는 대중교통을 이용할 때 'get on'을 사용합니다.

No.2 Let's look at the opposite.

No.2 반대로 보자. 버스가

He got .......... the bus as soon as it stopped.

멈추자마자 그는 ......... 버스를 탔다.

He got off the bus as soon as it stopped.

그는 버스가 멈추자마자 내렸다.

So again, for public transport, you use 'get off'. 'get on' and 'get off'.

따라서 대중교통의 경우에도 '하차'를 사용합니다. '타다'와 '내리다'.

We all managed to get ............ the same taxi.

우리는 모두 같은 택시를 ............ 얻을 수 있었습니다.

What's the preposition here?

여기서 전치사는 무엇입니까?

This time, the correct answer is 'into'.

이번에는 정답이 '속으로'입니다.

We all managed to get into the same taxi.

우리는 모두 같은 택시를 탔습니다.

So, 'taxi' is not considered public transport.

따라서 '택시'는 대중교통으로 간주되지 않습니다.

You get into a taxi. You get into a physical space (a car / a building).

당신은 택시를 탑니다. 물리적 공간(자동차/건물)에 들어갑니다.

You can also get into abstract things. You can get into a fight or a discussion. Or, you can get into a habit.

추상적인 것에도 들어갈 수 있습니다. 당신은 싸움이나 토론에 들어갈 수 있습니다. 또는 습관을 들일 수 있습니다.

So, what's the opposite of 'get into'.

그렇다면 'get into'의 반대말은 무엇인가요?

Look at the next sentence. No.4

We got ........... the taxi outside my house.

우리는 ........ 집 밖에서 택시를 잡았다.

The answer is: We got out of the taxi outside my house.

대답은: 우리는 집 밖에서 택시에서 내렸습니다.

To 'get out of' is to leave. Again, for a physical space or even an abstract situation.

get out of는 떠나는 것입니다. 다시 말하지만 물리적 공간이나 추상적인 상황을 위한 것입니다.

You can get out of the car, get out of the building, get out of a habit.

차에서 내리거나, 건물 밖으로 나가거나, 습관에서 벗어날 수 있습니다.

Right! Let's look at No.5

오른쪽! 5번을 봅시다.

Do you have a good relationship with your cousin?

사촌과 사이가 좋습니까?

Yes, we get ........... pretty well with each other.

예, 우리는 ........... 서로 잘 지내고 있습니다.

What's the preposition here?

여기서 전치사는 무엇입니까?

The preposition again is 'on'. We get on pretty well with each other.

전치사는 다시 'on'입니다. 우리는 서로 꽤 잘 지냅니다.

To 'get on well with someone' or to 'get along with someone'  is to have a good relationship with them.

'누군가와 잘 지내다' 또는 '누군가와 사이좋게 지내다'는 그 사람과 좋은 관계를 유지하는 것입니다.

Has she recovered from her operation?

그녀는 수술에서 회복되었습니까?

Yes, she's already got ........... it.

예, 그녀는 이미 가지고 있습니다 ........... 그것.

She's already got over it.

그녀는 이미 그것을 극복했습니다.

To 'get over' is to recover.

'get over'는 회복하는 것입니다.

You can get over an illness, an operation. You can even get over emotional things like get over a shock, a disappointment, etc.

질병, 수술을 극복할 수 있습니다. 충격, 실망 등 감정적인 것들도 극복할 수 있습니다.

공항에 몇 시에 도착하셨나요?

We got .......... the airport at 8.30.

우리는 ........8.30에 공항에 도착했습니다.

We got to the airport at 8.30.

우리는 8시 30분에 공항에 도착했습니다.

So, it's 'to arrive at' but 'to get to' for reaching your destination.

따라서 목적지에 도달하기 위해 '도착하다'가 아니라 '도착하다'입니다.

Yes, his remarks are beginning to get ......... me.

예, 그의 말이 이해되기 시작했습니다.

Yes, his remarks are beginning to get to me.

네, 그의 말이 마음에 와 닿기 시작했습니다.

To 'get to someone' is to annoy someone.

'get to someone'은 누군가를 짜증나게 하는 것입니다.

How long does it take you to finish a carton of milk?

우유 한 상자를 완성하는 데 얼마나 걸립니까?

We usually get ........... a carton in two days.

일반적으로 ........... 한 상자를 이틀 안에 받습니다.

We usually get through a carton in two days.

우리는 보통 이틀 안에 상자를 통과합니다.

To 'get through something' is to finish it.

'get through something'은 그것을 끝내는 것입니다.

And finally, No.10

마지막으로 10번 공급

Did you succeed in contacting your supplier?

업체와 연락에 성공하셨나요?

No, their number was continually engaged. I couldn't get ............. to them.

아니요, 그들의 전화번호는 지속적으로 연결되었습니다. 나는 그들에게 ............. 도달할 수 없었다.

The answer here, again, is 'through'. I couldn't get through to them.

여기서도 대답은 '통해'입니다. 연락이 닿지 않았습니다.

To 'get through to someone' is to connect with them over the phone.

'get through to someone'은 전화로 연결하는 것입니다.
