Learn Subject Pronouns + Not | Basic English Grammar Course

Hi, everybody.

नमस्कार मंडळी.

In this video, we’re going to talk about subjective pronouns,

या व्हिडिओमध्ये, आपण व्यक्तिपरक सर्वनाम,

‘be’ verbs,

'be' क्रियापद

and how to use them with the word ‘not’.

आणि 'not' या शब्दासोबत त्यांचा वापर कसा करायचा

Okay. So, let’s look at the board to help us out.

याबद्दल बोलणार आहोत . ठीक आहे. तर, आम्हाला मदत करण्यासाठी बोर्ड पाहू.

Now the first sentence says, “I’m not a student”.

आता पहिले वाक्य म्हणते, “मी विद्यार्थी नाही”.

‘Not’ means it’s not true.

'नाही' म्हणजे ते खरे नाही.

No.

नाही.

So remember, “I’m a student” means ‘yes’.

तर लक्षात ठेवा, “मी विद्यार्थी आहे” म्हणजे 'होय'.

“I’m a student”.

"मी एक विद्यार्थी आहे".

I go to school, and I learn.

मी शाळेत जातो, शिकतो.

“I’m not a student” means ‘no’.

"मी विद्यार्थी नाही" म्हणजे 'नाही'.

“I’m a teacher” or “No, I’m not a student”.

“मी एक शिक्षक आहे” किंवा “नाही, मी विद्यार्थी नाही”.

Okay.

ठीक आहे.

Now, notice, we first have the subjective pronoun and the ‘be’ verb.

आता, लक्षात घ्या, आपल्याकडे प्रथम व्यक्तिपरक सर्वनाम आणि 'be' क्रियापद आहे.

Then, we put ‘not’.

मग, आम्ही 'नाही' टाकतो.

Okay.

ठीक आहे.

‘Not’ comes after.

'नाही' नंतर येतो.

And then we have the noun.

आणि मग आपल्याकडे संज्ञा आहे.

Okay.

ठीक आहे.

“I’m not a student”.

"मी विद्यार्थी नाही".

Okay.

ठीक आहे.

Now, also, listen carefully.

आता सुद्धा लक्षपूर्वक ऐक.

“Not a…” sounds like one word.

“नाही…” एका शब्दासारखा वाटतो.

“I’m not a student”.

"मी विद्यार्थी नाही".

“Not a…”.

“नाही…”.

“I’m not a student”.

"मी विद्यार्थी नाही".

Okay, let’s look at the next one.

ठीक आहे, पुढचे पाहू.

“He’s not a student”.

“तो विद्यार्थी नाही”.

“He’s not a student”.

“तो विद्यार्थी नाही”.

“She’s not a student”.

“ती विद्यार्थी नाही”.

“She’s not a student”.

“ती विद्यार्थी नाही”.

“It’s not a dog”.

“तो कुत्रा नाही”.

Remember, ‘it’ is used for place, thing or animal.

लक्षात ठेवा, 'ते' जागा, वस्तू किंवा प्राणी यासाठी वापरले जाते.

So, “It’s not a dog”.

तर, “तो कुत्रा नाही”.

Okay.

ठीक आहे.

“You’re not a student”.

“तू विद्यार्थी नाहीस”.

“You’re not a student”.

“तू विद्यार्थी नाहीस”.

Okay, the next one is a little bit different.

ठीक आहे, पुढची गोष्ट थोडी वेगळी आहे.

We have ‘we are’.

आपल्याकडे 'आम्ही आहोत'.

“We’re”.

"आम्ही आहोत".

Now, remember, ‘we’ means more than one.

आता लक्षात ठेवा, 'आम्ही' म्हणजे एकापेक्षा जास्त.

Many.

अनेक.

Okay.

So we say “students”.

ठीक आहे.

म्हणून आपण "विद्यार्थी" म्हणतो.

We put an ‘s’ and we don’t put an ‘a’ in front.

आपण 's' लावतो आणि समोर 'a' ठेवत नाही.

“We’re not students”.

"आम्ही विद्यार्थी नाही".

“We’re not students”.

"आम्ही विद्यार्थी नाही".

Okay. And ‘they’re’ is the same thing.

ठीक आहे. आणि 'ते' ही एकच गोष्ट आहे.

It means more than one.

याचा अर्थ एकापेक्षा जास्त.

So, “They’re not students”.

तर, “ते विद्यार्थी नाहीत”.

“They’re not students”.

“ते विद्यार्थी नाहीत”.

Okay, we’re going to look at some more examples.

ठीक आहे, आम्ही आणखी काही उदाहरणे पाहू.

I want you to listen carefully and repeat after the examples.

"ती नाही".

“She’s not a girl”.

"ती मुलगी नाही".

“She’s not a girl”.

"ती मुलगी नाही".

“It’s not”.

"ते नाही".

“It’s not a chair”.

"ती खुर्ची नाही".

“It’s not a chair”.

"ती खुर्ची नाही".

“It’s not a cat”.

"ती मांजर नाही".

“It’s not a cat”.

"ती मांजर नाही".

“You’re not”.

"तुम्ही नाही".

“You’re not a singer”

“तू गायक नाहीस”

“You’re not a singer”.

“तू मित्र नाहीस”.

“तू मित्र नाहीस”.

“We’re not”.

"आम्ही नाही".

“We’re not sisters”.

"आम्ही बहिणी नाही".

"आम्ही भाऊ नाही आहोत".

“They’re not”.

"ते नाहीत".

"ते लोक नाहीत".

"ते लोक नाहीत".

“They’re not cars”.

“त्या गाड्या नाहीत”.
