Learn English about Father's Day l Father's Day Vocabulary in English

Father's Day is fast approaching, it'll be here  next month. So I think it's a good idea to learn  

some vocabulary about fathers and about  Father's Day. Our first word here is paternity,  

paternity, and paternity is a noun that means the  state of being a father. If you are a father, then  

you are in paternity. Let's see it in a sentence.  So for example: paternity can be a very rewarding  

experience. Some countries give paternity  leave to new fathers and paternity was a noun.

It also has an adjective form, and this word  is paternal, paternal. And paternal means  

like a father, or similar to a father,  or to be of your father's family.

So, let's see this in a sentence,  for example, he is not my father,  

but he has many paternal qualities. Meaning  he has qualities similar to a father. Or:  

my paternal grandfather is 85 years  old. This means my grandfather on  

my father's side of the family. And our  next word here is patriarch, patriarch.  

Patriarch, is a noun that means the male leader  of the family and, it's very similar to another  

word in English called matriarch, which just  means the female leader of the family. Okay,  

so let's look at patriarch in a sentence.  For example, the patriarch of my family  

is my father, or in some societies it is bad  to disobey the patriarch. Our next word, is  

father figure. Okay and of course, you can see  this is actually two words, but we treat it like  

one word. Okay, and father figure is a noun which  means, an older man who you treat like a father,  

especially by asking for his advice, help, or  support. So, let's look at it in a sentence  

for example, he's not my father, but he is a  father figure in my life. Or, it's important to be  

a good father figure. And for our final word or  vocabulary word is a verb phrase, and this verb  

phrase is spend time with. Okay and "with" is in  parentheses, actually because we don't say "with"  

always, but it's there sometimes. Spend time means  to use time doing something or being somewhere.  

Let's look at it in a sentence, for  example: I like to spend time with my dad  

on Father's Day. Or: me and my dad spent  time playing soccer today. Alright everyone,
