Improve Your Vocabulary: Change Simple Words into Advanced Words.

How was your trip to the United States?

Well, it was very good.

We lived in a very beautiful hotel, and we had very nice time there.

I was very happy to see the Grand Canyon.

It's very big and really very very beautiful.

Oh, that's very interesting.

One of the best ways to sound fluent is to use advanced words instead of simple

words.

Today we gonna learn some advanced English words

so that you can use to sound more natural.

In today’s lesson we’ll practice changing some simple words with the adverb “very”

into advanced words.

Ok, the first one is very difficult.

Instead of saying very difficult you can simply say demanding or challenging.

If a task requires much skill or effort, you can say: ‘That’s demanding”

or "That’s challenging"

Is it challenging? - Yes

It's very demanding

The second one is very sad Instead of saying I was very sad

you can say I was disappointed or I was devastated

If you’ve heard really bad news, that can make you feel devastated

that means very upset

Devastated, the White Swan leaps off a cliff

Number three is very smart. You can say – intelligent or brilliant

If the person is intelligent he or she is able to learn and understand things quickly and easily.

You're very intelligent. You have an ability to influence people.

A brilliant idea. A special idea.

Number 4 Instead of saying very bad

you can say appalling That word means something shocking and really bad

His crime was appalling, yes, but it was motivated not by greed, but by desperation

These children, they can't live like this. It's appalling.

Number 5 Very big

Instead of saying "I’d like to live in a very big house"

it’s better to say “I’d like to live in an enormous house”

And you probably know the word ‘giant’ That’s another one you can use

number 6 very honest

You can say straightforward If you say everything you think

and you don’t try to hide your opinion that means you’re a straightforward person

or tiny if you speak about something of extremely

small size you can use both these advanced words

number 8 – very annoyed Instead of saying I was very annoyed

you can say I was exasperated

I was exasperated, and tired, and annoyed, and I said:

something of great quality, we can say it’s superb

Number 10. Instead of saying very hot

you can say sweltering, that’s extremely and uncomfortably hot.

Number 11. instead of saying very happy,

you can say thrilled. If someone is thrilled that means he is super excited

Number 12 - very tasty. Instead of saying "very tasty", you can say “exquisite”.

This lamb is exquisite.

But this word can also mean very beautiful and delicate,

or qualities that are extremely good.

So you can use the word “exquisite” instead of very good as well.

The next is very dangerous

Instead of saying It was very dangerous you can say it was hazardous

or it was threatening. If the situation is full of risk

and depends on the effect of unpredictable forces,
