I hope so are you happy are you really happy I hope you are happy today because

Christmas is on the way you better watch out you better not cry you better be

good I'm telling you why because Santa Claus is coming to town Santa is on his

way just a week to go before Christmas I'm very excited I am like a big kid at

this time of year wondering what his santa claus going to bring for me this

year I wonder have I been good or bad during 2019 that's the big question I

suppose the other thing I should mention as well is we are halfway through the

week already I don't know why this week is going by

so quickly yes it's Wednesday

I was drinking some water then and I almost choked on it that's not very good

as it so here we go then we are approaching Christmas a week away just

another week to go the big question is will I be with you on Christmas Day now

I know normally I'm with you on Wednesday in fact these are the days

when you can watch me on YouTube Sunday Wednesday and Friday 2 p.m. UK time

every week but the big question is will I be with you next Wednesday because it

will be Christmas Day a week from today also it's worth mentioning that I may or

may not be with you on the first day of 2020 ooh because that is also Wednesday

I can hardly contain my excitement because I'm excited that's why we all

will be talking about words and phrases connected to not being interested in

something I hope you are interested in today's livestream because I'm here with

you today live from the United Kingdom let's have a look outside the window

shall we oh it's a strange one today this morning it was very misty very

foggy outside the window in fact I can show you now what it looked like this

morning so there is the view right now however this is the view that greeted me

this morning and there it was this morning so the same view but looking out

of the window when I first woke up this morning it was very foggy we are having

some really weird weather it doesn't feel like winter and it certainly

doesn't feel as if Christmas is arriving next week so I don't know what's going

on at the moment the weather is very strange apparently the that over the

next few days it's going to get very warm in fact I think it will be around

14 maybe even 15 degrees this weekend so some very strange weather and this is

the view right now so that's what you can see out the window at this very

moment in time and it doesn't look too bad

it is rather mild very damp but apparently it's going to be really warm

this week very strange isn't it and also lots of rain as well I'm afraid

oh dear I was looking forward to going out this

weekend for a lovely pre-christmas walk unfortunately it looks as if it's going

to be very wet this weekend what is the weather like where you are now I know in

some parts of the world the weather can be very hot very cold please

think about those in Australia at the moment who are suffering from extreme

heat in certain parts of Australia at the moment it is 46 nearly 47 degrees

at the moment one of my friends actually lives in Australia so I hope he is

staying cool so it's very warm in Australia however here in the UK it is

not so warm even though it still feels very mild

week I'm very busy tonight I'm going out to see one of my friends in fact one of

in Wolverhampton and then this weekend we're catching up with some friends we

haven't seen for a long time on Friday as well so a lot of socializing taking

I'm going to mention briefly you might want to talk about it more you might not

want to talk about it at all what does it mean when you take something to heart

when you take something to heart do you ever do this do you ever take

something to heart this expression is an interesting one and it concerns our

emotions our human emotions if you take something to heart it means you take it

personally you think something is concerning just you on a very deep level

so maybe something that you take to heart is something that you feel

insulted by or maybe something that you feel upset by so maybe a person makes a

comment maybe they are trying to offer some advice to you but you take it to

heart you take something to heart we can also

say you take it to heart so this means that you take it very personally even

though the thing that was said or done was not meant

to be offensive so maybe a comment that someone made or maybe something that a

person did maybe it was meaningless however you take it to heart you take it

too seriously you take it very personally and I think we are all

capable of doing this sometimes especially if we are in a bad mood so

sometimes if we're feeling if we are feeling a little down a little unhappy

we might take it to heart we might take something that is said

something very innocent something that is not meant to be offensive but we take

it to heart because we believe that it is something that is against us or

something that is insulting so what about you do you sometimes feel very

sensitive about what people say or do do you sometimes take something to heart an

interesting expression and I'm always interested in these expressions and

words that are connected to the way we behave and act towards each other they

to describe feeling bored so if you ever find yourself feeling bored about

something or because of something then there are many ways of expressing this

word something that is not interesting something that you don't have any

interest in you might be bored by it so we will look at that a little bit later

on here's another interesting phrase and again this is all to do with human

behavior what is the difference between something that is in your mind and

something that is on your mind so what are the differences between these

phrases in your mind on your mind if something is in your mind it means your

brain is actually doing something it is something that is in your mind it is

something that is stored in there so maybe you are remembering something that

is in your mind something that is in your mind it is actually a memory that

is stored in your mind so if you have something in your mind it means it is

there as a memory something that you have remembered something that is stored

as a memory it is in your mind however when we talk about on your mind

you might have something on your mind this is different it has a different

meaning to have something on your mind is something that is bothering you

something that is worrying you a thing that is causing you some concern

or worry something is on your mind maybe you are thinking about a person may be a

person that you haven't heard from for a long time

that person is on your mind something is worrying you something is

troubling you something is on your mind and again just like earlier I'm sure we

all have things on our minds it might be something trivial it might be something

small and insignificant but something that is on your mind might be something

that you are worried about something you are concerned about something you might

not be looking forward to of course we can also have nice things that are on

your mind you might have something exciting approaching so it will be on

your mind maybe you feel so excited you can't

sleep at night because the thing that is about to happen is on your mind and of

course in a negative sense something that you are not looking forward to can

be on your mind so quite often we will use this in a negative way something

that is on your mind if a person looks worried you might see your friend and he

or she looks a little worried a little anxious about something you might ask

them what is on your mind what's on your mind you look troubled

you look worried you look as if you have something on your mind and as I said

earlier if you have something in your mind it is something that is there all

the time something that is in your mind of course we can also say that something

is in your head or just in your head that is something that is imagined or

not real so a person might be in the house at night alone and they can hear

strange noises in the house even though they know that no one else is in the

house you might tell your friend the next day and they might say don't worry

it's all in your mind something in your mind is something that you are imagining

or thinking about something that is in your mind it is all in your mind or

something that is there permanently such as a memory it's also in your mind so I

hope that explains some more meanings of two very common phrases we are going to

lesson I made many years ago way back in 2010 and this particular lesson is all

about one of my favorite moments of winter in the lesson you are about to

see we are going to take a look at the English snow spring is the time for new

life to grow summer is when we find places to go autumn or fall turns the

leaves into gold winter the season for catching a cold hi everybody this is mr.

hope so today I'm going on an English winter

wonderland walk and you are very welcome to join me as you can see we are having

a very white winter here in England I love the winter time as it presents such

a sharp visual contrast to the other seasons especially when winter looks

like this for those who live in constantly hot and dry countries

experiencing snowfall is something which can only be imagined although over

recent years some countries that never usually get any snow have actually had

it

winter is a difficult time for small animals the icy conditions mean that

both food and water becomes scarce and hard to find it is a sad fact that many

small animals die during a very cold winter most at-risk are small birds

although this Blackbird seems to be doing all right

feasting on what is left of my Christmas turkey

goodbye mr. blackbird hmm I really love eating that so much

look at this poor thrush its feet are so cold it has to stand on one leg mmm

there's plenty of food to be found under the snow as this Blackbird and Sparrow

are finding out

when the snow falls fast and thick we call it heavy snow when the snow is

falling during a strong windstorm we call this a blizzard when snow is

falling gently and the flakes are small we call this light snow sometimes the

snow does not fall completely frozen it melts away very easily this type of snow

is called sleet

there can be very few natural sights more impressive than a blanket of snow

covering the landscape the feeling of walking out on a snowy day really does

capture the senses all the sounds which are normally around you disappear as the

snow absorbs them

the feeling of walking on fresh snow is quite unique

the distinctive crunch beneath your feet as you walk along completes this amazing

winter experience

look at me I'm building a snowman it is fun to play in the snow and I still

remember as a child how excited I felt when I opened my bedroom curtains after

a night of snowfall to see a white winter blanket covering all of the roads

and rooftops come to think of it I still get excited about it now

the winter season in the UK can vary from year to year

sometimes the winter climate is not so cold we call this a mild winter

sometimes the winter weather brings with it lots of snow and freezing

temperatures we call this a hard winter or harsh winter

few days it's going to get very warm here in the UK I think it might have

something to do with global warming I think it might I hope you enjoyed that

lesson made many many years ago nine years ago I made that lesson I hope you

weren't too bored by that lesson so here are some words now that I'm going to

show you to be bored something is boring boredom so let's

take a look at these words one by one shall we

bored is the feeling of being an interested in something so maybe you

feel bored maybe you are doing something that takes a long time maybe you are

looking at a movie or a TV show and it isn't very interesting to watch

you might feel bored you feel bored by something so that thing you are watching

the thing you are doing the thing you are actively involved in isn't really

very interesting you don't find it interesting it makes you feel bored and

the thing you are doing the thing you are watching is boring

so both of these words are adjectives however this one comes from the person

who is feeling the sensation of disinterest the thing that the person is

doing is boring so even though these two are adjectives many people get these

mixed up they get them the wrong way around so you can be bored by something

bored with something the thing is boring a boring lesson a

boring film a boring walk a boring conversation you feel bored by the

boring thing so a lot of people get these mixed up so they might say I never

feel boring with you what you should say is I never feel bored with you so that

refers to your feeling that refers to the thing that you are bored with or

bored by you feel bored the thing is boring it is not

interesting and then we have the noun the noun form which is boredom so

boredom expresses that feeling it is the noun that shows the state of being bored

something that makes you feel bored is boring you feel boredom and that is the

noun so bored is an adjective boring also an adjective boredom is the

noun however there are many words as well that can be used to express this

so something that is tedious something that makes you feel bored something that

goes on for a very long time and you have no interest in it it is tedious

place as hot as hell it's hot as hell here something can also be as cold as

but I might not go to the cinema I don't like going to the cinema I just find it

a very annoying experience so there are always people talking and playing on

their phones and eating food making lots of noise so I don't really like going to

the cinema to be honest so I might way until the new Star Wars film is actually

available on well maybe on Amazon I will watch it on there in the comfort and

peace of my house a job can be very tedious yes it can so maybe if you do a

job and you're not very interested in the job or maybe if you work in a place

where there isn't much work to do so maybe you have to go to work maybe you

are working in an office and you have nothing to do you have to sit there and

wait for something to happen it can feel very tedious

Noemi says doing the housework is tedious I agree with you we have got to

clean the house because we have a special guest coming to stay just after

Christmas so yes we have to do a lot of tedious chores over the next few days

something can also be Dell if something is dull it is uninteresting it does not

interest you it is not of interest something is dull tedious boring it is

not interesting so maybe you have a job that isn't very interesting maybe you

have to spend all day sitting in an office maybe you have to do the same job

over and over again maybe you have to do something that you don't want to do at

all so instantly you will find it dull I don't like doing the housework I don't

like doing the house chores I don't like it I don't like doing any of those

it is urn inspiring maybe you read a book and halfway through the book you

your emotions maybe something that doesn't make you feel excited maybe

something that is tedious or boring is an inspiring I found the new Star Wars

film to be uninspiring maybe the things you saw in the movie have been done

lackluster it's an interesting word if something is tedious or boring something

that is flat and an interesting something that does not make you feel

might describe it as lackluster lackluster or lack lust some people say

uninteresting is bland bland so maybe you have never seen this word before

maybe it's the first time that you've seen this particular word you might

describe today certainly the weather outside you might describe it as gray
