oh look at that we've had a little bit of snow in fact yesterday we had so much snow

we had a blizzard yesterday we will be taking a look at yesterday's dramatic weather a little

bit later on but now yes we are here together again it is another english addict coming

to you live from the birthplace of the english language which just happens to be do you know

where this is yes it's england

wow hi everybody this is mr duncan in england how are you today are you okay i hope so are

you happy i hope so i hope you are feeling super duper today yes we are here again yes

i know it's broken did you see that it's broken it fell off a few moments ago it's on the

floor right now can you believe it's almost a year since we started doing this

it's almost a year since we started doing this are you still doing this to be honest

with you i found it much easier just to climb into a bathtub so what i do now is i put my

hand sanitizer into the bathtub i fill the bathtub right up to the top and then i just

jump in and lie in the bath for about 20 minutes it's much easier to be honest so here we go

then yes we are coming towards the end of the month by the way this is the final day

of january and we have something very special coming up so today if i seem as if i'm holding

back there is a reason why i'm holding back i am saving my energy because february is

just around the corner and we have something very special coming up during february have

you heard about it well if you haven't heard about it i will give you a little clue right

now because i'm not going to call it february i'm going to call it february yeah that's

what i'm doing from tomorrow we have a whole month of english live we have video lessons

as well lots of things coming your way during february or should i say fab you weary you

see can you see what i did there so everything is going to be fabulous from tomorrow for

28 days we have 28 days of live streams there will also be some videos as well so i might

not be with you live every day however there will be some video lessons or some short videos

being posted on the days that i'm not with you live you see but i will be with you almost

every day almost every day during february i'm going to be with you live on not february

okay there's no excuse now there's absolutely no excuse you should know what it's called

february 28 days of fabulous english for you to sit down relax with maybe perhaps you can

curl up with your laptop or maybe you can do something else whilst listening to me you

see so lots of things we can do during the month of february or should i say fabuary

so all of that begins tomorrow that's the reason why i i'm holding back i'm saving my

energy because for the next 28 days i'm going to be very busy to be honest with you so that's

so if i seem a little distant today if i seem slightly reserved or cool if i if i don't

seem to be putting so much effort into my live stream there is a reason why because

i'm saving my energy for the following month which is tomorrow the first day of february

tomorrow who wants to play the new game that everyone is now playing it's called spot the

white van so this is a new game that i started last week can you spot the white van so what

we have to do we have to watch very carefully you can see in the distance there is a road

going across the screen and what we have to do we have to spot the white van so as soon

as you see a white van going across the road please let me know okay that's a lorry so

i'm sorry but we can't have lorries lorries or trucks do not count it has to be a white

van so i'm i'm a very patient person and i'm pretty sure within the next few moments there

will be a white van going across the screen come on where are you can i just say earlier

there were lots and lots of white vans going across and now there aren't any i suppose

one of the reasons of course is it's sunday you see and because it's sunday there aren't

many people out and about in their vans i suppose we will wait for another 20 seconds

we had so much fun with this last week because there were lots and lots of white vans driving

up and down the road

i i think this is going to be a big craze on the internet i think a lot of people are

going to start doing this they're going to start trying to spot white vans where they

live where oh was it was that a white van i don't think it was no that was a car i'm

sorry i have to be very strict with this game you see it must be a white van okay we will

here i am for those wondering what the heck is going on here if it is your first time

my name is duncan i talk about the english language quite often to be honest some good

news and some bad news first of all the bad news we still don't have live captions so

there aren't any live captions however the good news is the speed of the live stream

has been improved so now there is a very short delay between me speaking and you hearing

me so it used to be around about 30 seconds now it's only around five or six seconds so

that's pretty good so i've managed to to decrease the delay between me speaking and you hearing

me which i think is pretty good that will make it much easier for you to interact with

me and of course we can all talk to each other as well because that's the reason why we are

here to share our love of english it is that's the reason why i'm here because i am an english

addict and i have a feeling that perhaps you are an english addict as well oh my goodness

we had we had terrible weather yesterday i i know there are many places around the world

suffering with rain and also snow even south america i was watching the news this morning

and they were talking about the fact that in south america around argentina peru that

part of the world and also chile there is actually a lot of rain at the moment but here

yesterday we had the most amazing blizzard yesterday not only did we have strong wind

we also had heavy snow so take a look at this so this is actually yesterday outside the

window we were experiencing a blizzard yesterday blizzard i live that word the word blizzard

means snow and wind at the same time so quite often the snow will drive across the landscape

you can see there that the snow is not just falling down it is also flying across and

the reason why it's flying across is because of the strong wind so yes we did have a lot

of strong winds and also snow yesterday in fact we had quite a blizzard here's another

shot you can see once again the snow yesterday was coming down very heavily fortunately it

did not stick on the ground so the snow was falling but it didn't it didn't stick so it

went away very quickly but later on this is the best one look at this later on the blizzard

became even worse so this was later on in the afternoon look at that so that is actual

snow falling yesterday outside my studio window and there you can see the snow was falling

very heavily in fact there was not only snow there is also strong winds as well i hope

where you are the weather is not too bad i hope it isn't too windy or wet or snowy where

you are watching hit the moment so there it was yesterday's dramatic weather we had a

very long heavy disruptive blizzard yesterday

if i'm not mistaken i think blizzard is also the name of a computer game manufacturer is

that right i think they are based in the uk i think so blizzard so for all those who like

playing

computer games yes i believe blizzard is also the the name of a company that makes computer

games as well

talking about today potatoes something very interesting some interesting information concerning

potatoes right now we are going to take a look at one of my many video lessons that

exist on youtube this is an excerpt from full english number 25 and then we will be back

can you see what i'm standing inside this is something you will see a lot on a countryside

walk here in england this is a type of gate that is used on public footpaths in rural

areas it is called a kissing gate you will often see them around the edges of farmland

where a public footpath comes into a farmer's field the shape of a kissing gate means that

only one person can go through at any time the gate will not open right out thus preventing

livestock such as sheep from escaping the gate is closed off on both sides this is because

of the shape of the enclosure it is normally semi-circular or square in shape the gate

touches or kisses each side of the enclosure which gives this gate its name it is a kissing

gate it allows people to pass through whilst keeping the farmers livestock enclosed in

the field

can you see what i have here this is string it is a useful item for tying things up with

you tie things with string you tie up something to keep it in place or to bind things together

the word string can also be used in other ways too as a phrasal verb you can use the

word string to mean lead someone on by making them believe something that's not true you

string them along you are stringing them along you are cheating them to fool someone into

believing something that's untrue is string along i don't believe a word of what you're

saying you are just stringing me along as a verb to string up means to hang something

with a rope to execute a person by hanging them by their neck is to string up then there

is the phrase highly strung which means to be over sensitive and easily upset a highly

strong person tends to overreact to things he has a reputation for being highly strong

so be careful what you say it's time to take a look at another buzz word

a buzz word is a word or phrase used frequently during a certain period or for a certain reason

today's buzz word is millennial the word millennial can be used as an adjective or noun in its

general term the word refers to a period of one thousand years for example a millennial

cycle which relates to the time something takes to complete or come round again then

there is the more modern use which is a person who will reach young adulthood during the

early 21st century a person who will be a young adult in the early 2000s can be described

as a millennial we often hear about millennial trends and millennial habits concerning young

adults in today's society the adjective describes the person while the noun refers to the status

young adults in the early 21st century are millennials the needs of the average millennial

tend to be technology based social media sites often find it hard to keep up with the demands

of the millennial user are you a millennial this particular buzz word is often used when

discussing the needs and requirements of the current and the next generation of young adults

here are a couple of words that sound alike but have very different meanings the words

are allowed and allowed they share the same phonetics but their definitions are completely

dissimilar first of all the word aloud means to do something audibly that is to say that

something is done that can be heard for example not in a low whisper but in a voice that can

be heard the thing in question is being done aloud he read the letter aloud for all to

hear the word aloud is an adverb it describes how something is being done then there is

aloud which is a verb that means to give permission or to consent to something you allow something

to happen it is allowed one person has allowed another person to do something the sign says

when he's on the live stream to be honest that's not true that's not true i am generally

optimistic positive in real life mr steve is the most miserable person in the world

that's not true although steve i have to be honest with you steve you you have had a very

traumatic day so far if by the way if you felt a little bit of movement in the earth

oh mr duncan i've got a bone to pick with you have you have you been discussing my ablutions

your ablutions why why do you use our viewers why do you use words that no one uses anymore

they well i use it yes ablutions it just means you're sort of you know peeing and well it's

everything it's it's washing yes exactly it's keeping your body healthy and clean things

you normally do when you first get up in the morning yes but going to the toilet is something

we all do unfortunately today mr steve was having difficulty doing one of those things

redone that this morning yes well well it's here now it's a very close resemblance to

we're starting an exciting month of february but i'm calling it fabuary so we're having

a whole month of live english also recorded lessons as well so lots and lots of things

happening during the month of february or should i say fab you weary yes well you see

i thought that you'd been discussing my personal issues issues uh this morning because how

many do you have well that's just the one we're talking about at the moment okay because

i i was because before i'm coming on about five minutes before every sunday when i come

on i like to pick out some little bits from the live stream that's good and i was flicking

through the live stream and i noticed that people were giving me hints and tips on how

to relieve constipation well that's good isn't it so i thought what's mr duncan been saying

i'm going to have to berate you later berate okay talk to you a lot and say don't do that

you shouldn't be doing that mr duncan okay private nothing to do with anyone else okay

except we are all family so i don't actually mind so thank you for the suggestion flower

that i should eat prunes but believe me over the years over the many many years even from

a young child i always had problems in that area yes it runs in the family my father was

the same if only it did run the only thing it isn't doing is running i tried everything

over the years prunes 50 brand 100 brand i've tried it all yeah in fact bran actually makes

it worse but anyway we won't go into that now but if you anyone does have any sort of

tips feel free to share them with me long-term solutions to constipation see of course you

might help other people sometimes sometimes your your bowels because that's what they

are can be determined that their health can be determined by what you eat so yesterday

we did have a lot of meat we had lamb shank and also some of these as well oh yes potatoes

i felt this this morning i felt like it actually came out like that we had chips we had chips

with everything now yes so last night we had chips with lamb shank and also mr steve's

magic cauliflower cheese which was as usual absolutely delicious so we have been eating

a lot of chips but we received a very interesting email really from corey corey j let me guess

let me guess have they purchased a certain thing no oh i thought someone was because

last week we had two people that said that they were going to to purchase an air fryer

yes we're not going to talk about that we're not going to talk about that well i'm just

saying i'm just guessing as to what it could be you're not going to talk about it isn't

that just talking about what the guess could have been can you hear that you are you are

very delicate today i'm going i'm going to have to be very careful what i say to this

guy because he seems very delicate he could he could blow at any moment just like i did

earlier i thought that was the thing you had difficulty with anyway yes but yes no i was

just saying we're going to talk about it just what i thought that this person email based

so what is it there mr duncan well potatoes apparently potatoes are very popular in a

certain part of the world ireland no although there is a history in ireland with history

a big history in ireland that i'm not going to go into at the moment but potatoes potatoes

are very big in can you guess steve now we had an email last week where somebody said

that there were like 300 different varieties of potato is it peru it is peru i thought

so it's peru who was it that said it yeah in fact there were there were six thousand

right varieties so look at the picture there look at all the different types of potato

now now there are two potatoes that i can see i can see some sweet potatoes but can

you see those potatoes that they look like they look like parsnips that must be heaven

for you mr duncan i have never seen potatoes that looked like parsnips before so so yeah

look look at that selection of potatoes that's incredible there are so many varieties of

potato in peru and imagine you could turn all of them into chips yes so think of all

the mashed potatoes i could make from from from those potatoes that you can see there

in that in that image so in peru but the potato is taken very seriously in fact we can go

right back to the ancient incas who developed a way of drying out the potatoes really ten

thousand years ago incredible so not only that but also in peru they have a special

day for potatoes they actually have a celebration of the the good old-fashioned potato in peru

so if ever there was a place that we should be visiting or at least i should be going

to i think it must be peru where the the world capital of potatoes well they look amazing

they look amazing we've just got the boring old well that's a that's a red skin but normally

the potatoes we have here all got white skins unusual variety

what mr duncan what did i say i'm just thinking of of your use of the word skin so yes yes

they're all sort of different shapes and sizes but uh but this one this this also looks a

little bit like mr steve's poop this morning mr duncan can we stop talking about my poop

it's about as hard so that's that's literally this isn't it by the way i i eat colossal

amounts of fiber fruit you name it exercise nothing works and although tomic has has commented

that count yourself lucky that you've got me and my imperfections that you can bait

a whole show around i'll tell you something i could i could stay on air for a whole year

and still have things that i could talk about kiwi says valentina i might try that yes inigo

says that in spain the word constipation means false friend constipado means cold oh well

maybe that's where it comes from maybe that's why we use it here that you're all sort of

hard and cold and unmoving maybe a stubborn person stubborn exactly yes stupid so your

friend can be stubborn and also your poop can be stubborn as well yes valeria i eat

lots of drink lots of water my father had the same problem it's it runs in the family

so you know i've just got to all bran try all bran for a week yes done that as well

tony what happens the trouble is i'll try something and it'll work for say a week and

then it stops working so i think i've got to keep trying different i've tried um uh

those seeds what are those seeds that i eat as well i don't know they are uh sunflower

no what are they called i don't know i can't think of the name of them it might come lin

seeds linseed or flax seeds they they're they're fine um have you ever thought about just taking

a large hose pipe and just sticking it up there and then turning the water on full yeah

that might cause damage mr duncan that might work exactly uh you look like one of those

little fountains that you see in in italy with with the water coming out of their mouths

well uh i think you've hit on something there sue cat how long have you got uh let's not

get into that that's that's a subject for a whole another lesson yeah i think i think

for that mr steve should be sitting on a on a couch lying back i think with a person taking

notes has probably diagnosed the the main issue here because i think if you are a sort

of a tense nervously person which i tend to be i think it's sort of everything shuts down

uh so but yes i've got to relax more i've got to appear more on your live streams mr

duncan well yeah maybe you can have some some some days when you don't want to do any work

had a great idea but i don't think it's a good idea he said has anyone ever done a live

stream of them sitting on the toilet yes so so maybe next week maybe next sunday we could

have a live stream with mr steve and maybe we can see how well all of his diet plans

and and all of the changes that he's made during the week well if i have to suddenly

rush out yes during the live stream you'll know what it is i can take the camera with

me we can have a live i was going to say dump dried apricot says zurshid i'll try that again

maybe i could combine the two i wonder wounds and apricots are there any other english teachers

on youtube talking about constipation i don't probably say no i don't think so not in a

want me to go right across your new white hat uh and then let's do the score and if

more people say yes i'll do it apparently orange juice is good for constipation ah well

my sister says that but it doesn't work for me i don't want to know about your sister's

comments orange every day can we just stop all this talk about people's poop it's bad

enough talking about yours i don't want to hear about your sisters as well to be honest

uh yes lin seeds have a glass of water yes i sue cat now i tend to take the linseed dry

but i think the same with the prunes you need to soak them in water otherwise when you're

taking them you all the water in your system is going to go into the it's going to suck

all the water out of you so yes put them in a glass of water i think you know what i think

i think just it's just a thing that some people are are prone to getting so some people have

have constipation some people have the opposite so you can actually have the opposite now

to be honest if i had a choice if i had a choice between constipation and diarrhoea

i would always choose i would always choose constipation because because diarrhoea can

get you into all sorts of sticky situations i like these tips they're so wonderful about

coming on live to to your lovely audience the community that you've created

is that i can get all these tips on how to relieve constipation yes i mean it's just

worth it all these 14 years of teaching english live is worth it if i can solve my constipation

issue yeah so i'm starting to think that the only reason why steve comes on here is so

he can he can ask you to sort out all of his his life problems just swallow the jelly and

that's it yes that's it uh when you soak it in water you get like a jelly so don't bother

with the uh espagula is spagula or espaguila husk which comes from india i think from a

plant oh okay uh is the other thing i use but again you've got to make sure you have

plenty of water apparently racer says less rice now i've never heard of that i i don't

know what effect eating rice has on your body whether it can make you bind you up really

yes because there's no fiber in rice yes well yes so it sort of binds you up i think yes

we are coming up to three o'clock and by special request steve pedro belmont or should i say

also if you have diarrhea you were also running short of underwear well clean underwear donna

give you constipation unless you keep the skins on them but then the worry would be

have you got all the chemicals pesticides and fungicides that they spray on potatoes

would you want to necessarily eat those that's why we peel them i think so so these these

mr steve does not like my beard whereas lots of other people do they say it makes me look

live stream approve of and in fact like mr duncan's beard yeah uh whereas you and i don't

and be all itchy he'll shave it off no i am going to keep this beard for as long as mr

i i'm not sure how how long to actually grow my beard because a few weeks ago it got it

got quite long but then i cut it and i've also added a little bit of color as well now

there is nothing to be ashamed of if you if you change the color of your beard because

women do it all the time with their hair don't they women are always changing the color of

their hair so if women can dye their hair and color their their hair i'm sure men are

allowed to actually make their beard look a little darker so that's what i've done but

i think it looks alright it makes me look a little bit more erudite

all go pop in your mouth so i was going to try a little bit of it you see on today's

going to be writing to me to be honest i don't think so olga's cooking there he goes there's

always somebody cooking yes last week we had somebody baking a cake yes olga's cooking

in the world it's food o'clock well that's it because of course people are watching in

lots of sort of entertainment in the evenings is this going anywhere yes it is going somewhere

and it's going it's i'll tell you where it's going it's going to the point of mentioning

that uh we had this remote party on zoom okay with you know like 50 or 60 people you could

see all their little faces and i was wondering whether other people with their work colleagues

were having zoom meetings and parties uh it was very interesting because we had like a

quiz and we had to download an app onto our mobile phones i feel like i'm living this

in real time we had to download an app onto our mobile phones and then there was somebody

in i don't know where they were uh asking all these questions fascinating you know giving

you a choice and you had to answer the questions on the app on your phone okay and somehow

that got connected somewhere and they could give the scores out all over the country well

i think it would just appear on a screen yes it's very clever though i just wondered whether

other people were doing that as well that was the point i was making you you think that's

clever this this is clever though if you want to see something really clever it's this we're

standing in england talking to the world this this is clever olga is cooking soup full of

cabbage beets and carrots borsh ah borsch now that's going to be good for constipation

i think so that sounds like a meal that steve should be eating please send me the recipe

olga because that sounds like the perfect relief that i'm looking for what is borsch

i feel as if i should know what it is well it's cabbage beets and carrots so so that's

to speak lots of different languages very well we can say that you are a polyglot i

europe and people will beat you up well i think that we are i i think that now in france

particularly really and germany probably german people wouldn't say very much but i don't

would assume that because we were british we were anti-european well i i don't think
