Meaning of ONE OF A KIND - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

So in English when we say something is "one of a kind" it means that it is the only one

like it in the whole world.

So we can use this to talk about things and we can use this to talk about people as well.

So let's say that you were growing apples and your apple tree grew an apple that looked

a little more like a pear.

It kind of had a funny shape to it, and a funny colour.

You would describe it as one of a kind.

It's very, very unique.

We also use this like I said to talk about people.

You could say that your child, because they are so good at playing the guitar, that they

are one of a kind.

Maybe you have a relative who's incredibly good at something and you could say that that

person is one of a kind as well.

So if you're one of a kind you're the only one like it in the world.
