money. Using money means the different ways that we can spend money to buy

The first word is haggle. Haggle is a verb and it means to attempt to decide

on a price that is acceptable to the person selling the goods and the person

buying them. Haggling is usually done through arguing for a lower price. So, for

example: if a store is selling a shirt for $20 you could try to haggle the

price down to 18 dollars. If the seller agrees, you successfully haggled the

price of the shirt. Some synonyms for haggle (synonyms are words that have a

similar meaning) are: negotiate, bargain, barter, and quibble. Here are some

sentence examples: she is good at haggling. Bob had to haggle to get his

friend to sell his guitar for 20 bucks. The next word is THRIFTY. Thrifty is an

adjective, and it means showing a careful use of money by avoiding waste. Someone

who is thrifty uses their money carefully, not in a wasteful way. You could say that

someone is a thrifty shopper. That means that they only buy the things they need

and not wasteful things. Some synonyms or (words that are similar) to thrifty are:

frugal, prudent, and economical. Here are some example sentences: My mom saves a

lot of money by being a thrifty shopper. He doesn't save money. He needs to be

thriftier. The next word is wealthy. Wealthy is an adjective and means having

a great deal of money or having a lot of money resources or assets. If someone is

wealthy, it is the same as saying that, they are rich. Some synonyms for wealthy

are: rich, affluent, and well-off. Some symptoms examples for wealthy are: She is

a wealthy businesswoman. He is the wealthiest person

in the city. The next word is: filthy rich. Now, this is a funny idiom. If we look at

the two words together we see: filthy which means very dirty, and rich. So the

idiom means very rich in an excessive or offensive way. Let's look at some

sentences: The businessman is filthy rich. Her grandfather is filthy rich.

The next word for using money is: BROKE Broke as an adjective means that a

person has no money. Some synonyms or (words that are similar) to broke are: poor,

penniless, and destitute. Here's some sentence examples: Can I borrow 20

dollars? I'm broke until payday. He can't come to dinner because he is broke. Our

next word is GENEROUS. Generous is an adjective that means someone is liberal

and giving. Now, this lesson is about using money, so a generous person when

we're talking about using money is someone that likes to give money to help

people out. Some synonyms for generous are charitable, big-hearted, and open

handed. Here's some sentence examples for generous: He is generous with his money.

She gives a generous amount of money to charities. The next word is STINGY.

Stingy is the opposite of generous. Stingy means not generous. Someone who is

stingy doesn't like to share or give. Some synonyms for stingy are: cheap,

miserly, and penny-pinching. Here's some sentence examples for stingy: My friend

was too stingy to lend me five dollars. The company was too stingy to raise
