the students have been asking for more  advanced vocabulary to improve their

English yes I know I always read their  comments thank you for your support by the

way and of course I will teach you some  Advanced vocabulary this time related to

business idioms are absolutely Ely essential  

in talking business when it  comes down to understanding

others and expressing yourself because if  you're lacking a good understanding of English

idioms you will easily get lost in  a business conversation in order  

to help you find your way through the  jungle of business idioms I will give  

you some very commonly used used  idioms if you're ready then let's

start ahead of the pack it means  to be more successful than the

competition oh for you to understand better I will  give you some examples for each Advanced phrase

okay if we want to stay ahead of the pack  we'll have have to increase our marketing

Corner the market it simply  means to dominate a particular

market for example Amazon more or  less Corners the online retailing

Easy Come Easy Go what does it mean  something gained easily is also lost  

easily example I lost 500 in a pocker  game last night but that's life easy  

come easy go she never took things very  seriously Easy Come Easy Go was her motto

game plan it means a strategy  or plan for achieving

success for example what is our  game plan for dealing with our new

competitor or the governor is developing  a game plan to lure businesses to the

region get down to business stop making  a small talk and start talking about  

serious business topics for example now  that everyone's here let's get down to  

business and start with the presentation or  let's skip the formalities and get down to

business get something off the ground  to start something like a project or a  

business example now that we have finished  the planning phase we're eager to get the  

project off the ground or a lot more money  will be required to get this project off the

ground go down the drain what is  the meaning something is wasted or

lost for example all our efforts in  entering this new market went down  

the drain with renting we felt the money  was virtually going down the drain every

month go the extra mile it means  to do more than what people

expect for example to give our customers  the best shopping experience we go the extra

mile or the president is  determined to go the extra mile for

peace hands are tied it means not being  free to behave in the way that you would

like I want to give you an example  at love to help you but my hands are

tied politicians are always saying that  they want to help us but their hands are

tied in a nutshell what does  it mean using as few words as

possible for example in a nutshell  we will run out of cash in 3 months

time to put it in a nutshell we're  bankrupt that in a nutshell is what  

we're doing in full swing at a stage  when the level of activity is at it's  

highest for example construction of our  new production site is in full swing

now or the International Film  Festival was in full swing when we

arrived in the driver's seat it means to  be in charge or in control of a situation

example being offered the position of  managing director I'll soon be in the  

driver's seat or now he knows he's in the  driver's seat and can wait for a better

deal there are a lot more I mean more idioms  related to business but it's late for me
