So, what are the three misconceptions about high

best score in speaking tests?

The most common misconception is that you’ve got to use

big words, in order to score high in the IELTS speaking test,

as you can see from the example in the beginning of the video.

due to the reason that I can attain aberrant

intelligence from them.

If you try to use big words that you don’t fully understand,

then you may risk changing the meaning of the sentence

and the examiner might not understand you.

It is correct that you should demonstrate the ability to use

a wide range of vocabulary.

But just don’t use words that you do not fully understand or

not 100% sure about.

So, a better answer may look like this.

So, let’s start the speaking test.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Well, I really enjoy reading books,

because not only I can expand my knowledge,

but also, to relax.

Okay.

So, what do you usually read?

I have always been kind of a geek,

so I enjoy reading from social media,

where people all over the world can be

connected in just one platform.

Well, many learners seem to favour British

and American accents, because they think that

they will sound really fancy.

I actually have a Vietnamese student who is overly concerned

with her Vietnamese accent, because she can’t seem

to get rid of it when she speaks English.

So, what to do?

Actually, you don’t have to do anything, because any

accent is acceptable in IELTS, as long as your pronunciation

can be understood.

Imagine that you receive a question to describe a foreign

country that you have visited.

The only thing that worries you is that you have never

been abroad before.

What to do?

Well, you can, one, panic and be silent,

or B, just make things up and continue speaking.

What will you choose?

The fact is, I don’t recommend people lie, but you don’t have

to tell the truth the whole time in IELTS speaking test,

because the examiner is only interested in your language,

not the content.

So, in case that you come up in a topic that you

have no experience about, you can honestly say that

you have no experience, for example, you have

never been abroad before, but you can continue by talking

about a country that you would love to visit in the future.

Well, to be honest, I have never been abroad before,

but I really wish that some day I could.

If I had to pick a country that I want to visit in the future,

then I would definitely go with Australia.
