I want to confess something to you.

I think that the way we study English language

these days can be really lonely. And I think the world has a

big problem right now with loneliness. We're more

connected than ever, but yet more people

are feeling lonelier than ever too.

So what gives? And how can we improve this?

So I think that the way that we study English is often by ourselves

and that's a good thing, but if you're always

only using a textbook or a

you know studying independently with whatever material

you're using, it can be lonely. It's good to do

this about maybe half of the time, but not all of the time.

The other half of the time it's really important to

connect with people and use the language that

you're learning. Use what you're studying. It's really important to

use new information that you're learning

as soon as you can immediately

after you learn a new word or a new structure you need to use it.

If you don't have someone right there with you to practice with

then you can use it with yourself, you can speak to yourself

you can think to yourself, but it's really important to

get out there in the world and to use English with

other people. So you could do this online. Our sponsor

I think that it's really important to connect

with someone online a few times a week and

that I practiced with my teacher was phrases

for getting to know new friends and I asked my teacher

about her suggestions for how to meet new people

in a new language which can be really difficult. I know because

I've been there. So I want to encourage you to use your

English not just you know, to know English, but to

use it to connect with people and it can help to solve

our global problem of loneliness.
