How do I learn English alone? - Great ways to speak English with confidence on your own.

Over the years, I have received a lot of messages and questions about learning English.

Some of these questions relate to certain parts of the language itself,

while others often concern the way in which English is learned as a subject.

Questions such as... ‘How do I learn English?’

‘What is the best way to learn English?’

‘How long does it take to learn the language?’

But of all the questions, one of the most common ones is ‘How do I practise speaking English if I have no one to do it with?’

This is indeed a good question.

You might be one of those students.

So here is my advice to help you on your way.

If you want to share your experience of learning English with other people, then here are my tips for doing it.

First of all, you can practice speaking by yourself.

This is a very good way of building not only your vocabulary, but also your confidence.

Listen to your own voice using a recording device such as an MP3 recorder or the voice recording app on your smartphone.

This exercise is a very good way of preparing yourself for speaking with other people.

You can also use a mirror to help you.

Yes, a mirror.

Look at your reflection as you speak.

It might feel a little strange at first, but over time you will become used to doing it and your confidence will grow.

If you are trying to find other people to practise with, then why not put a notice up in your local shop or community centre?

There will be many people who are just as interested in learning English as you,

who are also looking for the chance to practise speaking with others.

Try to find an English corner where people meet to practise their speaking skills with.

If there isn't one, then why not create your own?

You might be surprised by how many people in your area want to practise English as well.

Sharing your love of speaking English with others is a great way to improve your word power and your confidence.

It is also a lot of fun.

So remember, you are not alone.

There are many people out there who are just as interested in sharing their learning journey with others as you are.

Build your confidence.

Practise English every day.

Make English part of your daily life.

Find others who share your interest.

Whether it is in real life or virtually through the internet.
