10 GREAT VERBS to Supercharge your English

Here we go with ten amazing verbs to supercharge your English. You are going to like this.

Our first verb, to binge-watch. This is to watch several episodes of a tv series one

after another so that you end up watching multiple episodes, four five even! I sometimes

do it at night time. I'll put on one episode and then I'll say ok I'll watch one more and

then you get to the end of that one and you think ok just one more and it keeps going.

It's terrible. If you want to put binge-watch into the past tense then you put the -ed on

watched. So I binge-watched Game of Thrones.

Oh what! He didn't? No, he didn't? Oh my! He did! No! I've got to get up. Ok tom, one

more, one more and then bed. One more and then bed.

Number two, to ride shotgun. I love this phrase. To ride shotgun. This means that you sit in

the front seat of the car. You are not the driver but you sit at the front seat, in the

front seat. So you would say, I want to ride shotgun today and that means I want to sit

in the front seat of the car.

I want to ride shotgun, I want to ride shotgun, let me! Come on, let me ride shotgun. I never

get to rise shotgun, please!

This is exciting. It's my first time riding shotgun. Yeah it's my first time. Wow! It's

so much fun up here. Oh my god! It's a cow, it's so big. My god this is fun, isn't it?

Shall we play some music? Can I play some music. Shall we play a game, let's play a

game. Shall we play eye spy? Let's play eye spy, I love eye spy it's my favourite game.

I love it! Ok, shall we play? I spy with my little eye something beginning with. If I

go like this it's like I'm running really fast. I'm running!

Number three, to photobomb. So this is to get into the back of somebody's photo deliberately

as a joke or to do something funny. An example sentence. That guy just photobombed us.

To blank somebody, this is quite rude. It's to deliberately ignore someone.So you see

them and you maybe don't want to talk to them because you don't like them or because you

can't be bothered. You blank them so you ignore them. I hope you haven't blanked anyone recently.

Oh my god! It's my ex-girlfriend, oh my god what do I do? Don't panic! Breathe, don't

panic, it's your ex-girlfriend just don't panic. Blank her, just blank her. Blank her

that's the best thing. Because any conversation would be very awkward. I don't even know what

would I say? What shall I say? I shouldn't say anything, i should blank her. Ok, I'm

blanking, I'm blanking her.

To Instagram something, this is a lovely modern piece of English. It's now become a verb as

well as a noun. So if you Instagram something, you take a photo and then you put it on Instagram.

That makes sense. Yeah!

Ok, stay there London bus, stay there London bus. I love it! You look beautiful, don't

move. Don't move! Oh that, I'm going to Instagram that right away. Oh my god! That's so London.

Hashtag London. Hashtag big red bus. Hashtag double decker. Hashtag OMG. Instagram, let's

Instagram it now. Let's do it now.

Next one, to people watch. This is brilliant English.So to people watch is an activity

in which you watch people. Yeah that's the activity. You watch people, that's the activity.

So you might sit in a cafe and you just watch people go past. You might do it in a restaurant

or on a park bench and I guess it's interesting because you get to see different people. You

get to see their clothes or maybe the relationships between the people. I like to people watch

when I go on holiday so to a new country. I like to just sit in a cafe and just look

at the people walking past and it's a great way to kind of get a feel for a new country

or a new city. So I love people watching when I go to a new city.

To cringe, cringe. This is to feel really embarrassed. This is an embarrassing situation

and yeah you kind of, your body kind of goes like 'oh no' 'god what are they doing' or

you just feel very awkward about something. Let's look at an example.

Oh my, what? Dad! Aunty! Uncle! What are you doing? Why are you? Stop dancing. You're too

old to dance. Dad stop dabbing!

Number eight to pre-order something. So when a company releases something like a book,

a new piece of technology like a phone you can pre-order. So you can make the order before

it's released to guarantee that you get the thing when they release it. So you might pre-order

tickets to a concert, you might pre-order a new piece of technology so it's to order

it or buy it before it's released.

Hi, yeah I pre-ordered the new Harry Potter book, I wondered if i could take it. Yeah,

the new Harry Potter book, I pre-ordered the new Harry Potter book, it's that one. You

are actually on it. Yeah, no your elbow, you re on it. Your elbows are...ok I'll go to

the other desk.

Number nine, to dab. This is a very modern piece of English. It's a dance move, I'm sure

you have seen it. I'm sure you've probably done it before. There's no point me talking

about it. Maybe it's better if I show you.

Hey. Hi. I'm Tom, by the way, what's your name? No name, ok. It's milk, I like drinking

milk. Yeah, it's good for my teeth. You're not much of a talker, are you? I'll dab somewhere

else. No? ok. Sure? ok.

And the final verb, to autocorrect. This is when you are writing a message on your phone

and you type the words and then the phone changes the word that you are trying to write.

So for example I might say 'That's great' and when I'm writing great it might autocorrect

to greek. So that's Greek and I'll send it without thinking and I'll be like 'no what?

That's Greek!' What does that mean? That's not what i meant. So to autocorrect, so the

phone autocorrects your words. So it can be quite funny, there are some amusing mistakes

that happen with autocorrect. I'm sure it happens in your language as well.

Do I have Joe's number? No, I don't. No! Autocorrect, not no idiot, no I don't. Autocorrect sometimes

you and me are not friends.
