Learn the English Phrases "to travel light" and "at a good clip"

In this English lesson, I wanted to help

you learn the English phrase to travel light.

When you travel light, it means you don't

take a lot of things with you.

You just bring one small suitcase

or maybe two small suitcases.

I'm just laughing a bit because

I'm actually in Maine right now.

I'm here, and I brought two small suitcases.

And I'm claiming that I am traveling light.

But maybe not technically light, but to travel

light simply means to maybe just take a

backpack and go away for a few days.

Hardly bring anything with the opposite would be to

bring, like, a big suitcase, a small suitcase, a

backpack, and all kinds of other things.

So when you travel light, you

don't bring a lot of stuff.

The other phrase I wanted to teach

you today is at a good clip.

When you go at a good clip,

it means you're going pretty fast.

I got here, let's see.

I left this morning at around 830,

and it's quarter to eight right now.

So less than 12 hours.

I was going at a pretty good clip.

I wasn't speeding by a lot, about two or

3 miles an hour faster than the speed limit.

But, yeah, I went at a pretty good clip.

I had a really nice car to drive.

I'll explain that in a sec.

But to review, to travel light means to travel

and not bring a lot of stuff with you.

Maybe your phone, your wallet, and a backpack.

And when you go at a good clip in

a vehicle, it means you're going pretty fast.

But, hey, let's look at a

comment from a previous video.

It's gonna be a lot of fun for both of you.

And then my response, I think it's going to be a blast.

So I haven't told Brent I'm here yet.

I just got here, and I wanted to make this video quick.

I wanted to explain to you, that's not my rental car.

This is my rental car.

But before you think Bob spent crazy

amounts of money on his rental car.

I was supposed to get a car like that, an economy car.

But when I went to the rental place, they

said that they didn't have any more economy cars.

And then they said they didn't

have any more premium cars.

And then they said that I would have to take this car.

I would have to take this car.

So I was kind of happy for

the same price as an economy car.

Actually, I think that's Brent's car, by

the way, the little black one there.

He's not here yet, though.

He'll be here in a bit. Anyways.

You might have seen this place already.

This is an apartment that Brett found for me

to live in for a couple of days.

And let's turn some lights on here.

It's actually quite nice.

I've already been in for a little bit.

I brought my fan, but my fan broke on the way here.

I like to sleep with a fan on, but I see

there's a fan there I might be able to use.

This is my room. Don't look there.

That's tomorrow's lesson on that

paper or Friday's lesson.

And there's a couch and other things as well.

So that's kind of cool.

So pretty fun.
