if we want to connect with people,

we have to be able to move away from

the part of ourselves

that is fearful,

that is mistrustful,

that assumes people will harm or reject us

and turn towards the part of ourselves

that simply wants to love

and connect with people

and can ready ourselves to engage

in these new connections with optimism

and with hope.
