people love gaming and play games some people play app games on their

phone other people play computer games or PC games and other people play

console games first let's study the names of some different types of games

the first one is FPS that is a first-person shooter an FPS game is a

shooting game where the gamer can only see the character's hands holding a

weapon or picking up something on the screen

some examples are counter-strike doom and half-life the next one is RPG RPG

means role-playing game a role-playing game is a game in which two players

assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting some examples of RPG

games are Final Fantasy World of Warcraft or wow those are some examples

the next one is MMO MMO means massively multiplayer online this is a game that

you play with many other players so players use a network in a virtual game

room you can play against people from all over the world in an MMO some

examples of MMOs are world of warcraft Elder Scrolls online and runescape these

are just a few of the types of computer games that you can play there are many

many more types now let's look at some vocabulary for talking about playing

games or playing computer games a console game a console is a piece of

electronic equipment for playing games on some examples are

PlayStation Xbox and Nintendo switch a game controller or game pack the input

device used to control a video game a game controller allows you to move

around and do things in a game items game items are things players can gather

and use in a game for example weapons medicine food building materials etc

inventory inventory is a noun inventory is the area of a screen in a

game that lists and let's a player access all of the items the player has

collected in the game farming farming isn't now farming it is what a player

gathers and collects items in a game that makes a player stronger and more

powerful loot loot is a noun loot is items you need to survive in a game for

example weapons medicine food building materials etc loot can also be used as a

verb loot as a verb means to go and gather items you need for example let's

go loot that building which means you are going to gather all the useful items

in a building buff buff is when a character's power and abilities become

stronger this could occur because the character eats or drinks something that

buffs their power and abilities camping camping in a game means staying and

hiding in one place or an area in the game and waiting for enemies to come by

you jump out and surprise them and kill them and take all their loot grind grind

is a verb grinding gaming's means to do a very

difficult task for a long time to achieve something like a reward or a

higher level etc lag lag is when games slow down because of a poor internet

connection what kind of games do you enjoy playing type your favorite game in
