large numbers in English. Large numbers in English. The first number unit that

we see in large numbers in English is the unit thousand. The thousand unit has

four digits. A digit is any number from 0 to 9. So we look here we see one, two,

three, zeros, a comma and a 1. 1000, now let's look at this number: we can count

and see we have one-two-three-four digits total, so we know that it is the

thousand unit. Let's try 2,222. When we see the comma, we know that we need to

say the unit name. So, in this example we can start on the left with the first two

two and then we say the unit name thousand two thousand two hundred twenty

two

now let's try another number let's count the numbers one two three four four

total digits we see there are three three nines before the comma and one

nine after the comma so if we start from the left we can say nine and then the

unit name thousand 9999 now you try what's this number

that's correct it's 1234 1234 so if we start from the left side we can see the

one the comma we need to say the number unit thousand 1234 very good the next

number unit after thousand is ten thousand the ten thousand number unit

has five digits we can count the digits three zeros on the right side of the

comma and as one in a zero on the left side of the comma total is five digits

so let's count starting from the left we can say ten and then at the comma we

could say the number unit so ten thousand in the ten thousand unit we

have 10,000 20,000 30,000 40,000 50,000 60,000 70,000 80,000 and 90,000 so let's

try this number let's count how many total digits 1 2 3 4 5 so we have five

total digits and now let's start on the left side we have 80 so we can say 80

and then the comma we need to say the number unit 80222 so this number is
