mother's day let's get started let's  look at some mother's day vocabulary  

today let's look at the five words  gratitude appreciate cherish generous and  

tenacious the first word is gratitude gratitude  is a noun which means the quality of being  

thankful most often we hear it used in the  word grateful which is the adjective form of  

gratitude so instead of saying thank you i might  say i'm grateful for you or i'm grateful to you  

so let's take a look at how we might use the  words gratitude or grateful when talking about our  

mother's or mother's day i have so much gratitude  for my mother this means i have so much of a  

feeling of being of thankfulness for my mother  i am grateful to her i have gratitude for her  

i am so grateful for her love and care notice  that when we use the word grateful we often say  

i'm grateful for something i'm grateful  for her love and care i'm grateful for  

uh the way that she raised me right so  

here are first words gratitude and grateful  just a different way to express thankfulness

next is the word appreciate appreciate means to  recognize the full worth of something or someone  

or to value or respect something or someone so  today we'll look at appreciate of course in the  

context of a person who do you appreciate  in your life who do you value and respect  

so in the context of mother's day i  might say i appreciate my mother so much  

or i appreciate all that she has given  me our third word today is cherish  

cherish means to protect and care for someone  lovingly and often we use cherish to mean that we  

adore or love something very dearly so of course  this is a word that we might use with our mothers  

so i might say something like i cherish my mother  or i cherish the time that we spend together  

this means i love and adore and uh  really really hold close to my heart  

my mother and the time that  we spend together so cherish  

the next two words are adjectives which means we  might use them to describe someone the first word  

is generous this is an adjective which means you  are very giving it means you might give something  

more of something than is necessary or expected  so this could be you give a lot of your time  

you give a lot of your love or you even give a lot  of material things generous means very giving so  

on mother's day i might say something like i  am grateful that my mother is so generous or  

she is generous with her love and time this means  she gives a lot of her love and a lot of her time

the last word we'll look at today is tenacious  tenacious is a wonderful adjective that means  

to have persistent determination this means  to work hard and never give up or stop trying  

many parents out there are very tenacious  when it comes to raising their children  

and trying to make sure that they have a good life  and become good people so on mother's day i might  

say something like even when life was difficult  her mother was always tenacious she never gave up  

this means that she never stopped  trying and she always worked hard  

let's review our words for today so the first  three words gratitude appreciate and cherish  

are all words we might use to show  our thankfulness and how much we care  

uh you might tell your mother that you are  grateful for her that you appreciate what she  

has done for you and that you cherish your  relationship with her if you're explaining  

to her why you love her so much you might say  it's because she is so generous and tenacious
