Learn English Gaming Vocabulary, Gaming Acronyms, and Gaming Words

hello everyone and welcome back to the english  danny channel i'm teacher john and i'm here to  

help you become great at learning english  today's topic is gaming acronyms and if  

you don't know about acronyms don't worry we're  going to learn about acronyms in today's video  

so keep watching so what is an acronym well  an acronym is an abbreviation of several words  

formed with the first letters of each word okay so  let's look at a few examples of this okay we have  

usa which of course means united states of  america un which is uh the united nations  

and of course we have nasa all right let's  look at our first gaming uh acronym and that is  

afk afk means away from keyboard and you  can say it or you can type it so you can  

you know you can say this if you're talking to  someone when you're when you're playing a game  

and you want to use this when you are leaving  your computer all right so you're you're away  

from your keyboard so you can't respond  to somebody who's trying to talk to you  

and we use this as an adjective all right so let's  see a few examples okay for example i need to do  

something for a few minutes so i'll be afk or just  i am afk our next word is rpg and rpg means role  

playing game and people use this acronym to talk  about any game when you play a character class  

such as a knight or a wizard okay so for example  world of warcraft is my favorite rpg or i only  

play rpgs these days and i'm sure that you can  see rpg is used as a noun and our next word is fps  

fps means first person shooter and people use this  acronym to talk about any game where the character  

uses a gun from the first person perspective maybe  you don't know what first person perspective means  

and this actually it means that when you play the  game it's as if you're seeing the game through the  

characters eyes so you can't see the character  okay it's through their eyes that's called  

first person so let's u let's use this in  an example call of duty is a popular fps  

or i don't really like to play any fpss and  our next one is ffa ffa means free for all  

use this term to talk about a game where there are  no teams and all players can act freely to attack  

other players and let's see it in an example  

for example what time uh what type of game is this  team battle no it's ffa and our final word is ctf  

ctf means capture the flag you can  use this term to talk about a game  

where the objective or your goal is to capture  the flag of the opposing team and then return it  

to your base or your home or something like  that your side of the map and let's use it in  

an example here so for example we're playing ctf  not ffa all right everyone that's our video for
