now let's get started music is a very important  topic to talk about we talk about music with our  

friends family and coworkers music is something  many people listen to every day and you might  

use this vocabulary a lot the five words that we  are going to learn about today are melody rhythm  

tempo pitch and genre so let's talk about  number one melody what is melody maybe you  

have heard this before melody is a noun and the  definition is a Tim especially the main tune in  

a piece of music written for instruments or  voices a melody is usually the main or most  

important or most noticeable music that you can  hear in a song for example there is a very famous  

song happy birthday what is the melody in this  song it goes that dun dun dun I think that you  

know that melody it is very famous so let's use  the word melody in a sentence Wow the melody to  

that song is so nice or the melody in this song  is very easy to remember number two rhythm what  

is rhythm well the spelling for this word is  a little bit difficult so sometimes it can be  

hard to read this word let's practice please  repeat after me rhythm rhythm rhythm is a noun  

and the definition is a strong regular repeated  pattern of sounds it is a repeated pattern okay  

so the most important thing to remember about  rhythm is that it repeats for example how can  

we count a rhythm like this 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 let's  use the word rhythm in a sentence the rhythm in  

this song is so good or I like to dance to the  rhythm of this song number 3 tempo what is tempo  

well tempo and rhythm are a little bit similar  but they are different tempo is a noun and the  

definition is the speed of the rhythm tempo can  be fast or slow let's see an example of a fast  

tempo one two three four one two three four let's  see an example of a slow tempo one two three four  

one two three four now let's use the word tempo in  a sentence I like the rhythm of the drums but the  

tempo is too slow or can you please play a slow  tempo you are playing the drums too fast number  

four pitch what is pitch well pitch is a noun and  the definition is how high or how low a sound is  

so sounds can have a high pitch middle pitch or a  low pitch let's see an example of a high pitch now  

a middle pitch now a low pitch those three sounds  are the same they are just different pitches high  

middle and low let's use pitch in a sentence wow  she can sing in a very high pitch or I can't sing  

in a very low pitch I can only sing in the  middle pitch number five genre what is Jean  

rrah it can be a little difficult to say so let's  practice repeat after me genre genre well genre  

is a noun and the definition is a particular  style of music film or art so there are many  

different kinds of music genres in America the  popular kinds of music genres are pop music rap  

music rock music and jazz music let's use the word  genre in a sentence I like many different genres
