understand and speak better when you talk  about certain topics today's topic is goals

English now let's get started goals are a very  important topic to talk about we talked about our  

goals with our friends family and co-workers the  five words that we are going to learn about today  

are long or short term priority incentive patience  and determination so number one long or short  

term what is this well long term is an adjective  phrase that shows you are talking about something  

far into the future short term shows that you are  talking about something that is not far into the  

future a long term goal will happen in a long time  maybe in a few years an example of this is buying  

a house or graduating from university a short term  goal will happen soon maybe in a few months an  

example of this is losing some weight or reading  a book let's use it in a sentence my long term  

goal is to finish University my short term goal  is to lose three kilograms number two priority  

what is priority a priority is a noun and it means  something that you think is more important than  

other things and should be dealt with first so  you should do it first before anything else so  

the priority is the most important thing that you  must do for some people this means going to work  

to make money for other people like students  this means finishing an important assignment  

let's use it in a sentence my priority today is to  finish writing my essay or I'm sorry but meeting  

my friends today is not a priority number three  incentive what is an incentive an incentive is a  

noun and it means something that encourages you  to do something so an incentive makes you feel  

more motivated an incentive can be more money or  some delicious food let's use it in a sentence my  

incentive to go to work is money or the incentive  of having pizza after class made me study harder  

number four patience what is patience patience  is a noun and it means the ability to stay calm  

and accept a delay or something annoying without  complaining patience is something that you have  

or don't have if you can wait a long time for  something good then you have patience let's use  

it in a sentence studying for four years  to get a university degree requires a lot  

of pay or I don't want to wait anymore I have no  patience for this number five determination what  

is determination determination is a noun and it  means the quality that makes you continue trying  

to do something even if it is difficult some  things are very difficult and some people give  

up when something is too difficult if you have  determination then you don't give up you always  

try hard let's use it in a sentence I don't have  enough determination to finish this test I give  

up or I have the determination to work hard and  succeed ok everyone that's our lesson for today
