learn some words and phrases that will help you the words that we are going to

learn about today are symptom allergy antibiotic vaccine and prescribe so

number one symptom this is a noun and the definition is a physical feeling or

problem that shows that you have a particular illness for example a symptom

of having a cold might be coughing or sneezing let's use it in a sentence

I had symptoms of being sick so I went to the doctor number two

allergy this is a noun and the definition is a medical condition in

which your body reacts badly to something you eat breathe or touch for

example many people have an allergic reaction to pollen from flowers let's

use it in a sentence my brother has a peanut allergy when he eats them he

becomes very sick number three antibiotic this is a noun and the

definition is a medicine that cures infections by destroying harmful

bacteria antibiotics help to cure colds sore throats

and coughs let's use it in a sentence I had a cold so my doctor gave me some

antibiotics to cure it number four vaccine this is a noun and the

definition is a substance that is given to people to stop them from getting a

particular disease for example there is a vaccine for many diseases such as

polio chicken pox and measles the vaccine prevents the person from getting

those specific diseases let's use it in a sentence

I received the vaccine for measles when I was young so I never got that disease

number five prescribed this is a verb and the definition is to say what

medical treatment someone needs for example when a doctor

gives you medicine because you are sick they are prescribing the medicine to you

let's use it in a sentence I felt very sick so my doctor prescribed me one week
