classes today well I think I'll get a bottle of  water take her oh one moment I forgot I had to  

ask you something you didn't give me my exam  seriously I forgot it sorry but let me tell  

you you didn't do very well on this last exam  really damn to be honest I was studying hard  

but I have some problems I try to practice  every day I listen to Audios in English but  

I don't understand teacher how can I improve my  listening skills can you help me please I need

it m sure sure I think I have some minutes to  help you listening skills the best way to improve  

your English listening skills is a combination  of immersion and active and passive listening  

plus finding the right exercises like shadowing  dictation using the right material etc for you  

the first thing is to start with a positive  mindset I know English listening can be very  

difficult especially with the speakers who have a  strong accent or who talk really fast but you've  

actually done it before you learn how to listen  understand and speak a language when you were a

baby it's important you know something when people  are talking don't focus on what you're going to

reply don't try to translate what they are  saying don't analyze the grammar structure of the

sentences just listen that way you will  get used to hearing English words and

sentences now about your study  routine study a little bit at a  

time if you have only a few minutes  to study that's okay learning for 15  

to 30 minutes every day is much better  than trying to memorize hundreds of new

words and also grammar rules  in one day this is called micro

learning it's when you divide your task into  very small tasks that can be done in about 5  

minutes for example if you're trying to listen  to a podcast you can break it up and focus on  

one minute at a time taking the time to learn  the vocabulary and understand what's being

said I used to do it you you can  listen to a video for example for  

1 minute then pause it then check what you  understood you can summarize what you have

heard also you can take notes  of the new words words you don't

understand then you can continue with the rest of  the video that's the correct way to improve your

listening try different types of content  there are so many different formats for a

studying find the one that works for you or  switch between content types depending on the

situation I will give you some examples podcast  YouTube videos radio Audi books sing along to  

English songs turn on English music as you  do other things and sing along as you wash  

the dishes or drive to work for example  now what type of music should you listen

to well if you're a beginner then romantic  music or pop is fine also Rock now if you  

want to challenge yourself you can listen  to rap music it's difficult but it's funny  

to challenge yourself I remember there was a  song from melmore I liked a lot but I couldn't  

sing it because it was too difficult ult well  I decided to learn the lyrics and sing it now  

I gave you different ways to practice your  listening but it is also important to focus  

listen to the same content every day for a  week find a bit of content that you enjoy  

like a podcast or a YouTube channel choose just  one brief episode or video to listen to every  

day for a week pick out words or phrases that  are difficult to understand and look them up on  

the first and second days don't forget to hit  pause and listen again after a couple of days  

you should be able to listen for these words and  understand them by the last day you'll find that  

you you can understand much more than on the  first day now music is good but also listen  

to English conversations it really works find  conversations you are interested in I mean about  

topics you like and one example of it is this  conversation you want to improve your listening

skills so this video helps you improve your  listening skills through a real conversation in

English another example if you like money then  find videos in English with tips to earn more

money I hope you understand what  I'm saying another thing listen

intensively find a quiet place and set aside  15 minutes free of disruptions play an audio  

file and focus on catching the words as well  as their use and the overall meaning of the

audio take notes about everything you find  important such as when a speaker r es her

voice to imply her anger or when you think a  speaker is being sarcastic means the opposite  

of what they say listen to the speed too are there  any places where the speaker pauses slows down or  

speeds up what do you think these moments mean  this exercise focuses on taking your listening  

skills to the next level it trains your ability  to focus your attention on the words being spoken  

also listened and read another way to improve  your listening skills is to use two sources of  

information at the same time the easiest way to do  this is by watching an English video with English

subtitles this way you'll be listening to and  

reading The Words which will  make it easier to understand

everything or listen and speak  listen to a sentence over and  

over repeat the words immediately after  the speaker says them keep practicing  

until youit an intonation  match those of the speaker
