3 tips to improve your band score in IELTS Listening

let's begin. These are the three tips  to improve your Listening band score.

nah it sounds wrong native speakers  don't speak like that they say  

come on come on catch it good job do you notice  the difference when you listen to native speakers  

you realize that they don't speak individual  separate words instead they combine words together  

come on come on catch it catch it instead  of saying come on the final consonant sound  

links with the first vowel sound in  the next word and it becomes come on  

come on becomes come on the same  would catch it becomes catch it

the thing is when they do this it sounds  like they are speaking a completely new word  

which makes it even harder for learners  like us to understand so what should we do  

well the first thing you can do is  to practice pronouncing ending sounds  

such as the final consonant sounds ed cells or  plural cells fine cat love wanted laughed played  

keeps dogs classes if you teach yourself to  say ending sounds you can also hear ending  

sounds and in fact it's impossible to say the  ending sound without connecting it with the next  

vowel sound the next word for example come on  catch it catch it the next thing you can do  

is learn to listen to words in chunks chunks are  groups of words that are usually spoken together  

really quickly i'd like to how are you  doing not at all can you see i should have

what do you say i don't understand you huh  ah what what do you mean huh what do you mean

if you want to improve your listening band score  you should think about listening as a skill the  

best thing to do is to immerse yourself in an  english speaking environment so my advice is  

you can listen to songs news podcasts in  english anything that you can get access to  

even when you're doing something else

and you don't have to worry too much about  

understanding everything because the purpose  of passive listening is to train your ears  

to listen to english bit by bit  without you being stressed out

one of the common mistakes that i see people make  is to focus too much on practicing ielts materials  

thinking that the more practice tests that they  finish the higher best score they get but often  

they don't see any improvement ielts listening  can sometimes be dry or too academic and may not  

give you interested so you can re-energize  yourself by listening to something else  

that you really like and understand better it can  be something on youtube about recent blockbusters  

makeup tips or cooking instructions or it can  be a ted talk about a topic of your concern  

or it can be a movie or a sitcom of your interest  remember to diversify as your source of listening  

to cover a variety of accents styles of language  and topics now back to practice stats 150.
