Learn English with The Beatles

What's up everyone I'm so excited for today's  lesson because we're learning English with the  

legendary English band The Beatles! Now I'm a huge  fan of The Beatles they really are on a different  

level to other artists and their music is timeless  meaning is popular today and will not be affected  

by time or fashion. In this lesson you'll learn  with a scene we've selected from an interview  

of theirs and then you'll also learn lots of  vocabulary and expressions with a conversation  

I have with Ethan. Finally you'll get to practice  your speaking by having a conversation with me  

and then watch without subtitles and test  your knowledge with some quiz questions.

I'm going to teach you some words that you can  use to talk about The Beatles or any other artist  

or band that's popular. Today then we'll play a  conversation Ethan and I had using these words.  

We already explained what flop means it could  be a song that doesn't end up becoming popular  

the opposite of that is hit. A word that's  often attached to The Beatles is legacy  

they were so influential even often regarded as  the most influential band of all time that their  

music served as inspiration to many artists  and bands that came after them. Part of that  

legacy is probably the way their fans or fanbase  interacted with The Beatles. Their fans were so  

enthusiastic about them that it became a sort of  phenomenon that received the name of Beatlemania.

In this section of the lesson we'll replace  some parts from my conversation with Ethan.  

Then we'll give you a few seconds to answer  using the suggested phrases on screen  

you may reply in your own unique way too.

So it's funny how in that video they don't seem to  have overly high expectations for their career  

Nothing the beatles did ever flopped. So he  was a bit off in his prediction they put out  

hit after hit after hit the legacy that John  Paul George and Ringo left is incomparable.

So what are some of your favorite songs by them.

Well two of my favorites are I'm Only  Sleeping and Tomorrow Never Knows  

they experimented with playing music backwards and  used the sitar a lot after their trip to India.
