In the question, "Did you see that?" the  content words are SEE and THAT. The other  

words are function words and aren't normally  stressed. But a pronoun could be emphasized  

for contrast. Our intonation rises because  it's a yes-no question. Did you see that?  

Our tone can change depending on the  situation. Listen carefully. Guess who
