5 Reasons Why Your Spoken English Is Not Improving | Do This to Speak Better in English

your english as fast as possible and achieve  great results however sometimes we all feel like  

no matter what we do nothing helps and our english  is just not improving well today's your lucky day

a foreign language takes time a lot of time and if  we're talking about mastering a foreign language

english and guys i am always learning i will  be always learning english because it's not my  

native language and i am studying english every  single day like i'm exposed to english i'm doing  

something in english every single day for example  recently i finished reading the book kafka on the  

shore by haruki murakami and from the book i  learned so many new words for example handbag  

ablution and insipid yeah guys all of these  words are pretty advanced and not something that  

people would normally use in their day-to-day  conversations but still for me it was a huge  

learning opportunity but what i can tell you  is how much it took me to achieve the level  

i have right now in english and i think it took  me around 8 years give or take but i also know  

that this whole process can be done a lot quicker  and for you to be able to learn english as fast as  

you can let's say to achieve this level as  high as you can you actually have to enjoy  

what you're doing and naturally you could ask  me veronica how can i start enjoying learning  

the language and my two most important pieces  of advice here are first write down on paper  

while you're actually learning english like what's  the end goal for example for me the reason why i  

decided to become pretty serious about spanish  learning is that i was just so tired of always  

saying la siento no hablo espanol la siento no  hablo espanol and i actually decided to start  

a blood espanol to start speaking spanish i was  just i don't know i felt really stupid to be  

completely honest with you guys i felt like a kid  i wanted to interact with native speakers and i  

still do even though right now it's still hard for  me because i'm a beginner the second advice here  

would be only do something you like for example  again coming back to me with my spanish example  

i watch peppa pig a lot in spanish just because i  love peppa pig and i love how simple it is i like  

how it teaches me so many great things but at the  same time it's just a cartoon and i know for a lot  

of people it might be kind of stupid and silly but  i don't care it works for me and this is the most  

important thing and i think what you guys do a lot  in your studies or at your job is doing powerpoint

content in english and especially you never read  i personally believe that reading is an extremely  

powerful tool that can teach you english that can  help you learn so many great words in english but  

also it can help you learn something about the  world just like about the world in general if  

you're too overwhelmed with all the books you see  in a bookstore what you can do is start with kids  

books or books for teenagers i think this is  extremely helpful at the very beginning because  

usually children's books contain a lot of pictures  and they're pretty fun to read you can also google  

popular books for kids and this way you'll find a  whole selection of all the different books you can  

start with and also guys i think this process just  brings back so many memories it takes you back to  

when you were a little kid to when your parents  read you some books in your native language if  

you already passed the children's literature  phase i highly recommend the website called  

goodreads because there you'll find great book  recommendations and also you'll be able to keep  

track of everything you're reading you can start  by exploring their book list for example this book  

list is called books that everyone should read at  least once and guys as you can see it has a lot of  

books it has almost let's see almost 8 000 books  and all of these books have amazing ratings so  

i'm pretty sure you'll be able to find something  you'll love you'll enjoy reading the next reason  

why your english is not improving might be because  you feel overwhelmed with the amount of english  

you still have to learn there's a really famous  quote by albert einstein that goes the more i  

learn the more i realize how much i don't know  which is so true guys like the more you learn the  

more you realize that oh my god there's still  so much to learn and i think it's especially  

true for intermediate students because when you're  already at this intermediate stage you're past the  

beginner stage and usually at the very beginning  we make progress in english or in any other  

language really fast so we see results fast we're  really excited but like this intermediate plateau  

is real and a lot of people really struggle to  break out of this vicious circle and achieve

go from intermediate to advanced in english as  fast as you can but here i still want to share a  

great tip that helps me in my spanish learning set  smaller daily or weekly goals to prevent feeling  

overwhelmed for example for me my weekly goal is  to study spanish five times a week it sounds like  

a lot but listen to me here i can study spanish  like 10 minutes a day or 30 minutes a day or an  

hour a day so i give myself this flexibility right  i allow myself to do whatever i want to do i can  

watch peppa pig all day i can read something in  spanish i can have a spanish class with a teacher  

the most important thing is to study spanish five  times a week and you can keep track of everything  

in a journal for example i love bullet journaling  and you guys do remember the times when i was  

still a moscow and i had a blue bullet journal  right now i have a different well i have a pink  

one and i have like a page that is called habit  tracker so this is where i track all my habits  

for some people this method doesn't really work  and i recommend for example asking your friend  

to keep you accountable your friend or your  family member can message you like every day or  

every week asking you about the progress if you  succeed if you stick to your plan treat yourself  

do something fun the fourth reason why your  english is not improving might be because  

you're relying too much on your native language  what you can do instead is pretty simple first  

change the language on your phone to english do it  right now actually on all your electronic devices  

not just on your cell phone now let's talk about  the second thing you can do every time you want to  

google something for example you're taking a walk  outside and you start thinking why do humans walk  

upright like why are we just crawling on all fours  like a cat or a lizard i don't know yeah that's a  

pretty interesting question so why not google  it in english instead of your native language  

that's it this is how you'll be learning english  this is how you'll be exposing yourself to more  

english every single day and now let's move on  to the final reason why your english might not  

be improving you aren't applying everything you've  learned to real life situations guys are you ready

with a really difficult name that i'm not even  going to attempt to pronounce one cannot guess how  

a word functions one has to look at its use and  learn from that amazing quote this quote is all

and context right if you have english-speaking  friends even better when you talk to them try to  

notice which words they use and try to like absorb  the language right and then if you hear some new  

words that you don't know feel free to ask them  i'm sure they're going to be happy to explain to  

you what this or that word means and then you can  just write down all the new words and commit them  

to memory later by using different techniques that  i mentioned in my previous video but memorization
