Ranking TOP language learning apps (the most comprehensive tier list)

hello guys and welcome back to my YouTube channel  today I'll be ranking language learning apps  

and I'll share some useful Insight because I'm  currently learning three foreign languages English  

Spanish and Chinese I want to let you know that  the apps I'll be talking about are not just useful  

for beginners I feel like a lot of people have  this idea that only beginners use language apps  

and it's absolutely not true there are great apps  for intermediate students and even for advanced  

students that I use sometimes when I learn  English well in Spanish I'm not advanced yet I'm  

definitely intermediate in Chinese I used to be  Upper Intermediate now I feel like I'm beginning  

my journey again so I decided to make one of the  most comprehensible videos and actually today  

we're gonna be reviewing 31 different apps I know  it's kind of crazy but also I don't want to make  

this video like five hours long and that's why  I'll be mentioning some of the apps very briefly  

so let's go but before we dive into today's  awesome content I want to give a quick shout out

it's enough because I found some videos on YouTube  where people were talking about just like 5 or 10  

apps and I was like no I have to find as many apps  as I can and also guys I I've used every single  

one of these apps it's not like I have never used  it before and I don't even know what I'm talking  

about but also I have to let you know that this is  my tier list right that's why I decided to create  

it like this not a fan okay good really good a  fan it's only my perspective if you don't agree  

with me it's fine if you think this app is amazing  and I think you know it's okay or I'm really not  

a fan of this app again it's okay as well because  it's only my perspective so let's begin with the  

first app the first app is life XP this one and  to be honest I'm a huge fan of this app this is  

basically a language platform where you can have  one-on-one conversations with a tutor the reason  

why I love this app and I use it myself is because  I believe the first class on their platform is  

only 99 sense and if you get a subscription on  their website all the teachers are going to have  

the same price which is very convenient the next  app is Lyrica so Lyrica is an app that can help  

you learn the language with music to be honest  I will put it to okay right here just because  

it's very limited I think it's only available on  iOS right now first and second you can study all  

the languages there right they don't have like all  the languages like I don't know 20 or 30 languages  

they only have I think five something like that  so and I feel like when you're learning languages  

with music you can just use Google or YouTube and  that's it next up is out sound I would say Elsa  

is a really good app if you want to improve  your pronunciation in English it's very fun  

so it's a good pronunciation app the next app is  Ling to be honest I'm just immediately gonna put  

it right here because I'm not a fan fan of these  apps in general basically this is an app where you  

can learn a lot of different foreign languages  and it's very gamified and I really don't like  

these apps again it's just my personal preference  I'm not a fan of like playing games and learning  

foreign languages the next one is lingo pie I am  a fan I absolutely love this platform the way this  

app works is you can watch shows or videos with  the help of this app and memorize new vocabulary  

this way and I personally use this app for Spanish  learning and also what I like about it is that  

it's also connected to Netflix so you can also  you know watch Netflix and learn new vocabulary  

so this is a great app I love it the next one  is Lura I would say Lura is okay it's an ax and  

training app with AI the main thing is you can use  AI to practice English if you don't have anyone to  

talk to the reason why I want to say that for me  this app is okay is because some of the things are  

very limited and also like the AI that talks  to you sounds like a robot you know this like  

classic AI voice like what are you going to do  today so that's why yeah this is kind of like the  

only thing that I don't really like the next app  is let me speak and I'm again gonna put it here  

because I'm not a fan I'm sorry it's too gamified  for me it's an app to help you learn vocabulary in  

English this app is fluent forever and I would  say it's really good I really like it this app  

was created by Gabrielle weiner who wrote the book  fluent forever and to be honest I enjoyed reading  

the book so much I even created a video on my  YouTube channel about this book so if you want to  

check it out make sure to do it later after this  video but I like this app because it really helps  

to memorize new vocabulary it's very good but the  reason why I wouldn't say I'm a fan is because  

there are other apps that I think are a little bit  better when it comes to memorizing vocabulary in  

English the next app is promova and I really  like this app I would say it's really really  

good promoba is great for memorizing vocabulary  and I just like its design I like the flash cards  

I like the pictures the examples they're using so  really good the next one is bright and I feel like  

it's time to put something in the good category  and it's going to be our first app here so the  

reason why for me bright is a good app is because  you can learn vocabulary there and some phrases  

in English but it's like very simple so that's  why I would say it's a good app now let's move  

on to lingoda and for me I'm a huge fan of lingoda  I've been a student on lingoda for years now right  

now I'm learning Spanish on lingoda and I love  the classes there especially the group classes  

I have never taken like a one-on-one private  lesson there but group classes are amazing a  

few weeks ago I decided to take a group class on  lingoda about tattoos because I have quite a few  

tattoos and it was so much fun like I got to speak  about my tattoos in Spanish practice Spanish learn  

some new vocabulary talk to amazing people and  yeah I know lingoda I'm a big fan the next app  

is italki and I'm a fan of italki 2. I like that  you can find someone to practice any language with  

really for a very low price which is amazing  about iTalk game the only thing that I don't  

like about italki is that right now it's kind of  hard to be a teacher there because there's just  

so many people there already on the platform and  I actually used to be a teacher on italki just a  

community teacher a while back and yeah that's  why you know there are so many memories for me  

associated with italki the next app is hello talk  this is basically an app for language exchange  

right to find people to speak English with maybe  even for free so I would say for me I don't know  

honestly it's a good app the reason why I would  say it's a good app is because the way it works is  

there's like a feat where you post your questions  and native speakers respond to your questions and  

help you the only problem for me is sometimes no  one responds to my questions and yeah sometimes  

it gets tricky but if you don't want to spend any  money to learn languages of course feel free to  

use hellotalk because people do respond maybe you  just have to wait a little bit longer if you have  

any questions about language learning they will  definitely help you there the next app is high  

native and high native works very similarly to  hello talk so I think I will put it in the same  

category for me it's just a good app then we have  tandem honestly I like tandem more but because  

of them some things about tandem I honestly don't  know I would say I don't know like when I look at  

my really good row I have Elsa I have promova and  honestly I don't really want to put tandem there  

because how do I put it sometimes people there  are not as motivated as you are sometimes they're  

looking for a romantic relationship there even  though yes the app is trying to crack down on like  

all of this Behavior because it's not a dating app  it's an app for learning languages so I like that  

you can have like video calls with people there or  just you know text people and ask them questions  

so yeah it's a good app then we have bold voice  for me I'm a huge fan both voice is a great app  

if you want to speak English with this American  accent and it's amazing because just the way it's  

structured like the videos the explanation videos  are all done by native speakers Hollywood acts  

and coaches and it's a great app I'm definitely a  huge fan then we have Anki so as you guys can see  

I decided to include Anki Pro even though yes  there is just a regular Anki app but it's very  

simple it's very simple very rudimentary and a lot  of people don't like it but there's like this new  

cool app called Anki Pro and it's based on the  app Anki and that's why I started using ankyo  

Pro just because it looks nicer so I'm a huge fan  of Anki I love using the space repetition method  

to learn vocabulary this is actually the most  effective method of memorizing new vocabulary  

in foreign languages so I'm a huge fan of Anki  the next app is Pimsleur for me I'm definitely a  

fan of Pimsleur especially at the very beginning  because it's kind of like a podcast you can just  

put it on your phone turn it on and maybe you're  going somewhere driving somewhere especially when  

you're driving somewhere just repeating the the  sentences out loud after the speaker is really  

helpful it's a very good app I feel like a lot of  people like polyglots and language Learners they  

love Pimsleur and I'm definitely one of them then  we have Babel so honestly for me Babble is an okay  

app I'm honestly not a huge fan of Babel because  I like busu a lot more and I feel like these two  

apps are kind of similar so for me busu is a very  good app because I use busu at the very beginning  

of my Spanish Learning Journey and it helped me  so much it's like to get started to feel like I'm  

making progress so yeah I I really like this app  this app basically uses this like comprehensive  

approach you're practicing vocabulary grammar  listening reading everything at the same time so I  

really like it now we have Duolingo okay guys are  you ready for this do you think I like Duolingo  

do you think I'm a fan or do you think I don't  like it let me know in the comments I'll wait

okay here's the truth actually I'm not a fan  of Duolingo can't believe I'm saying that I  

know a lot of people like using Duolingo but I  don't I tried honestly I tried using Duolingo  

for English learning for Chinese for Spanish  but it just I can't guys when I was trying to  

learn Spanish and Duolingo I still remember when  I was trying to learn Spanish and Duolingo there  

was the sentence I drank milk Joe bubble leche  and it was like why do I need this like why do  

I need to practice this sentence you know I  could say I drink milk but I couldn't say I  

work on YouTube or I don't know I like reading  so I don't know not a fan the next step is modly  

I feel like for me it's going to be an okay app  because it's one of those apps like Duolingo and  

um I don't know just not a fan honestly it's  an okay app then we have Rosetta Stone to be  

honest for me this app is good just because I  like Pimsleur a lot more so these two apps are  

very similar Pimsleur for me is actually you know  what I don't know how to pronounce pimsler it's a  

pims alert or pimsler and guys if you're like  me you're not sure how to pronounce some words  

you can use this website forvo and and can help so  Pimsleur so for me Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur are  

pretty similar so I just like Pimsleur a lot more  then we have closed Master closed Master is an app  

for you to memorize vocabulary to be honest I'm  not a fan because I don't like the interface it's  

very simple for me just the best app to memorize  new vocabulary is Anki so all the other apps are  

immediately no next app is drops it's gonna be not  a fan because drops is a very gamified app it's  

basically a game to memorize new vocabulary and I  really don't like that the next step is memorize  

and to be honest I really like this app because I  feel like it can help you memorize new vocabulary  

very successfully because inside the app for every  single word you have like a little video filmed by  

a native speaker and the person is pronouncing  the word and it's very fun I feel like it adds  

this nice experience because you're watching  all of those videos and you know pronouncing  

words correctly is obviously extremely important  the next app is link you and to be honest I would  

say it's a let's say a good app this app was  created by Steve Kaufman and his team Steve  

Kaufman is a very famous polyglot I love talking  to him I've done a few interviews with him on my  

YouTube channel an extremely intelligent person  but the reason why I feel like link Q is like for  

me right I'm not a fan of this app is just because  basically the way this app works is you can read  

texts and you can learn new vocabulary this way  so you're reading and then it also has this like  

space for petition technology there so it helps  you memorize new vocabulary it doesn't really work  

for me because I don't like reading on my phone  first of all second of all I use Anki to memorize  

new vocabulary and when I do read I usually I have  a book it's a book I read in Spanish it's like  

romance nothing too particularly interesting to  be be honest but the reason why I decided to pick  

this book is because it's easy for me like it's  not extremely easy but it's not super difficult so  

yeah that's usually how I read I'm not a huge fan  of apps that you know help you read things okay  

we have two more apps right here so the first app  is linguist and uh I would say not a fan I I don't  

know I really don't like this app because it's  also one of those apps to help you memorize new  

vocabulary but I feel like it's a little bit more  difficult because it asks you to change the form  

of a word for example like change the noun to an  adjective and just like sometimes you don't know  

especially at the very beginning it's a little  bit hard and they don't use any pictures from what  

I remember I might be wrong but again not a huge  fan and finally our final app is called lingo deer  

I would say it's an okay app I feel like I like  using this app more for learning Asian languages  

like Chinese when I'm learning Chinese sometimes I  use this app because I like that the pronunciation  

there is great done by native Chinese speakers so  again it's a little bit too gamified for me as you  

guys already know I'm just not a huge fan of those  types of apps so I think that's it this is what my  

table looks like as you guys can see there are a  lot of apps that I really like like live XP lingo  

pie lingoda italki ball voice Anki and pimsler  there are all the other apps that I feel like are  

good or really good but honestly they're just a  few apps that I'm just not a huge fan of and again  

it's only my experience maybe you don't agree with  me which is totally fine but at the same time I
